Warren McSweeney, the Assistant District Attorney, requested more time to review the case. Hardy’s next scheduled hearing is Feb. 16. The TNA star did not attend the hearing.

Low Ki Talks About Politics In WWE, Asking For His Release

17

Former WWE wrestler Low-Ki was interviewed this week by Darren Wood of Slam Wrestling. Here are some highlights of what Low Ki said about:

His WWE Release: “I can’t comment on other guys who have left or wanted their release. But if you’re not happy there then just leave, simple as that. I’ve had a good relationship with them [WWE] the entire time I was there regardless of what people may think. I have always had strong relationships everywhere I have gone; there are no bad feelings from either end.”

His Past Working Against Him In WWE: “I took a different path to most of the guys who are coming into WWE now and I think because I made a name for myself outside of the company, they didn’t like that,” he theorized. “I can’t and couldn’t ever be recognized as a WWE guy. I was never made by the company and I do think that was an issue. This is the biggest company in the world but they don’t have that stamp on me because I made a name for myself all around the world before entering. They would much rather take pride in saying they created you and I think that went against me.”

Politics In WWE: “WWE is a very big political game, and I already knew what the environment entailed, if you play that political game you stand a much better chance of succeeding in a particular role or position. I’m not a politician; I don’t see the need in playing these games especially when the business is suffering. If you don’t fill in that particular prototype or that idea then you are going to have a more challenging time in regards to a push or trying to excel. I feel this was the case with me; they have always been more about bigger guys. The company could have been behind me a lot more. They also could be behind a lot of guys more.”

Shaul Guerrero Works FCW This Week, Maria Kanellis Update

3

– WWE developmental diva Shaul Marie Guerrero, daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero, sang the National Anthem and did ring announcing at last night’s FCW live event in Florida.

Also on that show, new Nexus member and FCW Champion Mason Ryan defeated former NXT Rookie Percy Watson.

– During an interview with Final Bell Radio earlier this week, former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis had the following to say about the upcoming DivaMania tour, also featuring former WWE Divas Jillian Hall and Tiffany:

“We’re going to visit different bars, clubs, and do signings and hang with fans. It’s going to be the three of us back on the road. It’s going to be more of a relaxed atmosphere, not so structured. We’re just going to go out there and have a good time. We’ll go to a club and host a party and go up with the DJ and play songs. Maybe we can get Jillian to get up there and sing, and Tiffany loves to dance. If you’ve ever seen a club that is hosted by one of the Kardashian sisters or Rihanna, that’s what it’s going to be.”

WWE All Stars Box Cover Art
WWE All Stars Box Cover Art

– Former WWE ring announcer Howard Finkel wrote on Twitter this week that he’s at the video game developer’s studio putting the finishing touches on the ring announcing sound effects for the upcoming WWE All Stars video game.

– While Randy Savage working with WWE’s new All Stars video game is certainly newsworthy, it’s now come out that Savage has been working directly with THQ, not WWE. This is similar to how Savage worked with toy maker Mattel (and not WWE) for his new WWE-branded action figure.

– The cover art has been released for the WWE All Stars game and reveals 3 more members of the roster not previously announced – Randy Orton, the Ultimate Warrior and TNA star Hulk Hogan.

WM27 News: Edge’s Opponent, Christian Update, Ticket Sales

27

– SmackDown rising star Alberto Del Rio has been discussed as World Heavyweight champion Edge’s likely opponent at WrestleMania 27 on 4/3.  WWE is firmly behind Del Rio and company officials are very satisfied with how he’s handling his current push.

Former Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler, Edge’s Royal Rumble opponent, has also been discussed as a possible opponent for WrestleMania.

– The latest on Christian is that he probably will not be healthy in time to work a match at WrestleMania. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle back in late September, had surgery to repair the tear and has been rehabbing ever since. Initial reports stated he’d be out of action for approximately 6 months (until late March).

– WWE Hall of Famers Bobby Heenan and Harley Race have been invited to WrestleMania 27. Jim Ross recently mentioned that Race was confirmed to be attending the event.

– It’s interesting to note that WWE has not yet mentioned how many tickets have been sold for WrestleMania 27. In previous years, they have touted early strong ticket sales, which doesn’t seem like a great sign.

Linda McMahon Comments On Running For Senate Again

11

The New York Times published an article this week looking at former WWE CEO Linda McMahon’s political future and whether she will run for United States Senate again in 2012. Based on public comments she’s made in recent months, speculation from political pundits and the tremendous amount of personal wealth she still has (despite spending upwards of $50 million of her own money in her unsuccessful 2010 campaign), the New York Times thinks there’s still a strong chance of her giving it another shot. You can read the NYT piece at this link.

Earlier this week, Connecticut Senator Joseph Leiberman announced that he is retiring and will not be seeking another term in 2012. Linda McMahon posted the following statement on her official Facebook Page regarding Leiberman’s retirement and whether she will make another run for that job:

“Senator Lieberman announced today that he will not seek re-election. I believe he deserves our respect and appreciation for bringing a strong, independent and principled voice to Washington. Many people have asked me what my plans are. While running for the U.S. Senate in 2012 remains an option for me, I will spend …the next few months focusing on how I can best serve the people of Connecticut.”

*Spoiler* On TNA’s “They” Storyline – Several Returns Expected

26

Last Thursday on TNA iMPACT!, Amazing Red’s “little” brother (officially known as “Crimson”) put Abyss in a chokehold backstage and delivered a cryptic message to him: “They are coming.”

“They” will mark the return of the Main Event Mafia and will consist of Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner, and possibly Sting, Kevin Nash and Booker T.

Steiner returned to TNA at last Wednesday’s iMPACT! taping and participated in a cliff hanger ending. He donned a suit reminiscent of his time in the Main Event Mafia. Angle is penciled in for the group, and many within the organization expect Sting to be too.

Many in TNA presume that Nash is on board for the group. However, he adamantly said last week on Twitter that he is not because he is retired. Internally, many believe Nash is kayfabing his absence from TNA, but those close to him indicate he’s legitimately retired.

Booker T’s status remains unknown at this point, other than he wasn’t believed to have signed as of last week. Some were pleased with his departure from the organization in October 2009 as there were complaints about his performance, attitude, refusal to put over Matt Morgan in a match, and his own admission that he was using the company as a way to audition for acting roles.

Bobby Lashley has been mentioned by those in TNA as a possible member of the group. However, those affiliated with the mixed martial artist don’t believe he’s returning to the wrestling organization. Lashley is currently a free agent as his contract with Strikeforce expired following his loss to Chad Griggs in August. The only thing of note he has done since then is work a wrestling match for the Japanese promotion Inoki Genome Federation (IGF) in September. He is not tentatively not scheduled for any upcoming shows.

“They” would initially feud with Immortal and Fortune. The angle begins on the Feb. 3 iMPACT!.

— Friday’s TNA Wrestling live event in Reading, PA, drew approximately 1,000 fans. Saturday’s show in Upper Marlboro, MD, drew 688 fans. Sunday in Hagerstown, MD, drew a sellout crowd of 1,350 fans, the first legitimate sellout for a TNA live event in a while.

Sarita Inks Contract Extension, Bully Ray In Line For Lengthy Run

6

— Sarita has signed a two-year contract extension with TNA Wrestling.

The Canadian women’s wrestler has been featured more prominently on TNA Wrestling programming in recent months, scoring victories over many of her peers in the Knockouts Division including Angelina Love, Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky. She recently, albeit unofficially, aligned herself with TNA Women’s Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne and Tara while becoming embroiled in a heated feud with Velvet Sky.

Sarita, who’s real name is Sarah Stock, initially signed a contract with TNA Wrestling in 2009 and vignettes hyping her debut began airing in June of that year. Success came early as alongside Taylor Wilde, the duo became the inaugural Knockout Tag Team Champions in September. The tandem dropped the belts on the January 4, 2010 edition of iMPACT! and were scarcely featured in the ensuing months. Sarita turned heel on Wilde in June and subsequently received a push of sorts on Xplosion. She resurfaced on iMPACT! in October and has since accumulated a number of wins.

Sarita also competes for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in Mexico, under the ring name Dark Angel.

— Current creative plans call for the former Brother Ray to get a ‘long singles run’ as Bully Ray, a character he always wanted to portray. His former tag team partner, Devon, will also continued to be used as a singles wrestler.

Nash Reportedly Returning To TNA, Kong No Longer Awesome

19

— According to SLAM! Wrestling, “Kevin Nash is expected to return to (TNA Wrestling).” He is still listed on TNAWrestling.com’s roster section after his contract with the organization expired in October.

— Former TNA Wrestling performer Kia Stevens’ attempt to trademark the term Awesome Kong was officially dropped on December 3, 2010. TNA Wrestling had opposed Stevens’ attempts to trademark the ring name, stating that she never owned it. Stevens performed under the alias Amazing Kong prior to joining the organization in October 2007, so ownership would likely fall under their auspices. The organization also claimed that Stevens used fraud and misrepresented herself when she applied for ownership of the name. She never responded to their claims and thus lost her bid to trademark the name. TNA Wrestling warned Stevens in October that if she didn’t respond by December 3, 2010, she would lose her bid to trademark it. She didn’t respond by the deadline and is now officially prohibited from using the name.

— The Motor City Machine Guns are featured on the cover of the latest issue of The Wrestler. They are pictured holding the TNA World Tag Team Championship, which they dropped to Beer Money, Inc. at Genesis.

According to a source within WWE, the company is interested in bringing in Kimbo Slice to work WrestleMania 27. With an appearance by Brock Lesnar virtually a dead issue at this point, people within WWE think Kimbo has enough mainstream popularity to draw attention to the company’s showcase event.

– Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez made his WWE ring debut last night on NXT, defeating Del Rio’s Rookie Conor O’Brian to eliminate him, in what’s best described as a comedy match. Rodriguez wrestled under a mask on the independent scene prior to signing with WWE and has been training at Florida Championship Wrestling.

– Former Price is Right host Bob Barker will be at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta, according to SportsTalkNetwork.com. Barker is said to be a long time wrestling fan and won the Slammy Award in December for Best RAW Host.

In a segment that may or may not air on TV this Friday night, Ross appeared to a huge ovation from his home state crowd and did an interview but was interrupted by fellow Oklahoma native Jack Swagger.

According to our correspondent in attendance, Swagger put down Oklahoma and Ross before starting his match.

WWE sometimes has local stars cut in-ring promos when they are in their home city or state. It’s possible that the segment with Ross won’t air on TV but just was a treat for the fans in attendance.

After the SmackDown tapings ended, Jim Ross was the special guest referee in the dark main event. The match saw Rey Mysterio and WWE Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston defeat Alberto Del Rio and Kane.

After the match, Ross and Del Rio got into it. Mysterio and Kofi snuck up from behind and Ross pushed Del Rio over them to end the show.

O’Brian told Ricardo to kiss his rat tail. Ricardo continued chastising O’Brian in Spanish before being chased to the backstage area by the eliminated NXT Rookie. Macho Man Confirmed For New WWE All Stars Game (VIDEO)

9

Screenshots of Randy Savage in the new WWE All Stars Game:

Video game website IGN.com has announced that former WWE and WCW champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage has been confirmed for the upcoming “WWE All Stars” video game.

Randy Savage has not worked with WWE directly in many years. This past fall, WWE and Savage collaborated for the first time since the early 1990s, when WWE released a DVD set based on Savage’s career. Many hoped the Savage DVD set would result in Savage’s long-awaited return to WWE television, but that never happened and he wasn’t even interviewed for the project.

For those unfamiliar with the new WWE All Stars game, it will feature superstars from today as well legends previous generations. The game will feature “over the top” and “highly stylized” characters, along with arcade-style play (opposed to the SmackDown vs. RAW series, which is more of a ‘simulation’.)

“Macho Man” Randy Savage joins an already stacked roster that includes names like Steve Austin, The Rock, Bret Hart, Triple H, John Cena and more.

Check out this video of  Savage promoting the game (including new gameplay footage of Savage):

Zack Ryder: “What? Steve Blackman joined the Nexus tonight?”

— The move that Mason Ryan delivered to John Cena on RAW was his finishing move in FCW, which he calls the House of Pain.

– MMA fighter Kimbo Slice will make his pro wrestling debut on February 5th for WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki’s IGF promotion in Japan.

Slice will be taking on Shinichi Suzukawa in an “IGF Championship” match, says their website. That show will also feature fellow MMA fighter Josh Barnett and former WWE star Shane Helms.

Former WWE Writer Explains What Vince McMahon Really Wants

8

In the six years that he was a writer for World Wrestling Entertainment, Ring of Honor producer Dave Lagana worked directly with Vince McMahon and got a good sense of what makes the legendary wrestling promoter tick. Lagana has posted a blog titled, “Hey Pal: What Does Vince McMahon Want From Wrestling?” .. Here are some highlights of what Lagana said about:

Know Your Brand: “Coke is a brand. Tide is a brand. You are a brand. Vince would always make this one point very clear: “Perception is Reality.” Vince McMahon is a brand. From how he walks, to how he carries himself, to the speech patterns he uses. What he does, works for him. Don’t believe me? Check out his net worth. Vince would sit down with talents to talk with them, to get inside their heads and find out who they are. The best characters always come from inside the person playing them. Vince prided himself with finding a little nugget inside a talent and running with it. All the great characters are a piece of themselves, with the volume turned up.”

What’s Your Finish: “No matter if it was a storyline being pitched to Vince or details of a match, he’d always ask ‘What’s your finish?’ He wanted to see if you had thought about where you were going, the goal. While this sometimes could be perceived as a power game, it also made you prepare differently for the next time.”

No Sneezing: “If there is one thing Vince McMahon hates… it’s sickness. “There is no such thing as sick”, was the usual response when someone would try to use it as an excuse. Vince is a workaholic and if anything gets in the way of his work, it makes him angry. Paul Heyman would joke that Vince would get angry with his own sneezes. Perhaps it was because he couldn’t control it. ”

ROH on HDNet Results: The Briscoes Confront Haas & Benjamin

0

Here are the quick results from last night’s ROH on HDNet:

-Jay & Mark Briscoe def. The Elite (Ted McNaler and Adam Revolver) by pinfall after a Doomsday Device on Revolver.

-MsChif def. Daizee Haze by pinfall with the Desecrator DDT. After the match, MsChif refuses to shake hands with Haze and sprays mist in her eyes to add insult to injury.

-In the ring, Jim Cornette interviewed the “World’s Greatest Tag Team” of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. They want a tag title shot, which brings out the Briscoes who take issue with both their remarks and their WGTT moniker. In the end, Cornette makes a match between the two teams at the next ROH iPPV in Chicago with the winners becoming the #1 contenders. Fair enough.

-“The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels def. Chris Hero by pinfall with the Best Moonsault Ever to become the #1 contender for the ROH Television Title.

ROH has announced that this Saturday, January 22nd, the final “ROH on HDNet” main event at The Asylum in Philadelphia will feature a 6-Man Tag Team Grudge Match pitting ROH World Champion Roderick Strong and World Tag Champions Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli against Jay & Mark Briscoe and Davey Richards.
