Evan Bourne Injury Update, Who Discovered Sheamus, Keibler

7

— Evan Bourne has resumed training and is taking part in physical therapy after undergoing surgery last month to repair a torn rotator cuff. He is expected to return to action in February or March.

— Former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler stars in two upcoming direct-to-DVD films; Fixing Pete (set for release in January) and Dysfunctional Friends (out in May).

— Former WWE star James “Jimmy Wang Yang” Yun appeared on this week’s Right After Wrestling radio show and revealed a pretty interesting news item. Yung takes credit for being the person who discovered WWE newcomer Sheamus:

“I’m the one who got Sheamus his job. I picked him out in Milan, Italy and said ‘I’m gonna test this guy out’ and look at him now, he’s done great. I saw the workouts earlier and they told me that I could work with anyone I wanted. It came down to him and another German guy. I went to both guys and I asked ‘who does Italy hate the most, Germans or Irishmen?’ They both told me Irishmen so I ended up picking Sheamus to work that night. The rest is history.”

Goldberg Responds To Triple H Saying He’s Not HOF-Worthy

44

WWE superstar Triple H was recently interviewed by SBNation Atlanta while in town to hype WrestleMania 27 tickets going on sale last week.

During the interview, Triple H took a few shots at former WCW and WWE star Bill Goldberg. When asked about his favorite opponents, Triple H responded:

“For me, from my singles career, would probably be Rock and obviously Shawn. Between there I had a lot of hodge-podge guys, which weren’t really what you’d call classics. The Goldbergs and guys like that.”

Goldberg is a former Atlanta Falcons NFL player and made his name in the Atlanta-based WCW promotion. When asked wether Bill Goldberg deserved to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in Atlanta during WrestleMania 27 weekend, Triple H responded with:

“Bill’s trying to get into the Hall of Fame. If there’s a rumor about him coming back, he probably started it. I’ve not seen any mention of his name.”

Goldberg has now responded to Triple H’s comments, writing on Twitter:

“I read HHH and HBK’s views on the #WWE HOF….everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They do have a point if induction is based on tenure”

UPDATE: WWE star Chris Jericho has also commented on the possibility of Goldberg in the WWE Hall of Fame. Jericho, who has had issues with Goldberg over the years (Goldberg not wanting to put him over in WCW and Jericho getting the best of Goldberg in a backstage scuffle), wrote:

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF “OLD SCHOOL” RAW?

47

Monday’s “Old School” episode of WWE RAW was a very different broadcast than we’re used to seeing.

Aside from the various WWE legends that appeared, Jim Ross’ return to the announcing booth and Piper’s Pit, the show also featured throwback logos, ringside setup and production values.

Some of it might have been cheesy, but some of the classic staples of WWE television (including the pre-taped interviews by wrestlers at the beginning of their matches) really put a spotlight on some of the things missing from today’s product.

COMMENT BELOW – We want to know what you thought about Monday’s Old School edition of WWE RAW .. Is there anything “old school” that should be brought back?

Billington currently resides in Manchester, England and suffers from the after-effects of steroids and his high-impact wrestling style, which has left him confined to a wheelchair and partially paralyzed.

— Multiple WWE related terms trended on Twitter during Monday’s “Old School” episode of Raw including “#OldSchoolRaw”, “Brawler” and “Jim Ross.”

Jericho also commented on Jim Ross’ return to the announcer’s table on RAW and gave this analogy:

Steve Austin & Jim Ross Rip WWE’s “Top 50 Superstars” List

23

One of the big topics of discussion over the weekend is WWE’s new “Top 50 Superstars Of All Time” DVD. The list was posted online and has left many longtime fans scratching their heads.

For example, one has to wonder how WWE can seriously rank Rey Mysterio at #9 ahead of Hulk Hogan, who barely made the Top 25 at #23.

WWE Hall of Famers Steve Austin, who was ranked #3, and Jim Ross went on Twitter and spoke about the curious rankings.

Steve Austin wrote, “i dont know the criteria for the WWE top 50 list…but i disagree with 85% of it.”

Jim Ross said: “Hogan & Rock not being in top 10 n wwe top 50 dvd shocked me. Is shock 2 strong a word? Everyones entitled 2 their opinion.”

The Rock actually was listed at #5, and Jim Ross later corrected himself:

“My bad on Rock’s lofty rtg on wwe’s top 50 dvd. Hulk should have been higher but argument can b made 4 others too. I liked the dvd. Buy it.”.

In this week’s SEScoops.com “Sound Off” audio show, our own Solomonster shared his thoughts on WWE’s Top 50 list – you should definitely check that out below:

– TNA President Dixie Carter appeared at the final Asylum show and thanked fans for their support. She was met with a “Thank You Dixie” chant.

Herschel Walker Hypes Batista’s MMA Potential

5
Batista Training at Cesar Gracie's MMA School

NFL legend turned MMA fighter Herschel Walker spoke to Chad Dukes of 106.7 The Fan over the weekend and hyped the possibility of Strikeforce signing former WWE superstar Dave Bautista.

Bautista, who has been negotiating with Strikeforce regarding an early-2011 MMA debut, has been training at Cesar Gracie’s MMA school out in California and sounds serious about his transition into the fighting game. Walker told Chad Dukes:

“I think that’s great for Strikeforce to sign a guy like that [Batista]. But I know Dave and one thing that’s great about him (is) he’s doing what I did. He went into a camp, people are talking about him fighting but they’re not talking about (how) he went into a camp. He’s over at the Gracie’s camp. He’s over there with Diaz, which I think Nick and Nate Diaz are absolutely incredible fighters. I love the way they fight. And what’s strange about it, this guy is over there training, he’s not over here talking about, “I want to be an MMA fighter,” but he’s not out there training. He’s out there training. So he’s going to be a beast. He was a beast as a professional wrestler, so he’s going to be a beast here. The guy is going to be pushing what, 265 pounds? He’s strong as an ox, so yeah, he’s going to be a beast.”

It’s been widely reported that one of Batista’s first MMA opponents could be fellow-former WWE star Bobby Lashley, who has fought twice for Strikeforce and is coming off a disappointing loss against relatively-unknown Chad Griggs back in August. Keep reading below for more on a possible Batista vs. Lashley showdown:

Dana White Says Marquardt Choked Again At UFC 122

1
Yushin Okami Puts The Gloves To Nate Marquardt

UFC’s outspoken president Dana White spoke at the UFC 122 post-fight press conference on Saturday from Germany and let the world know what he thinks about Nate Marquardt following his loss to Yushin Okami. White said:

“He is a choker, he choked tonight. Marquardt is such a talented guy, and what I’m seeing is stuff from the Greg Jackson camp. This camp continuously – when these guys fight, their corner is either telling them they’re ahead or they’re winning. I mean, Nate Marquardt sat here tonight and said that he thought he won the fight. Where the [expletive] is his corner? You go into the last round and you’re getting outstruck by a wrestler, and you think you won the fight? And this is consistent with the Greg Jackson camp.”

Marquardt also spoke at the press conference, downplaying the loss and maintaining his position that his performance was a lot stronger than the judges gave him credit for:

I felt great coming into this fight. Mentally, I felt ready. I had a great camp. I had a great game plan, and honestly, I feel like I was landing the harder shots. When he was catching me, it wasn’t really affecting me, but the judges perceive it as him controlling the fight. I felt I did enough to win, but I wasn’t a spectator. I was in the fight, so it’s hard for me to say. Either way, I’m still one of the best, and I’m going to get back in there and be the champ one day.”

What do you guys think – does Marquardt really have what it takes to hold UFC gold? Comment below.
