WWE superstars Chris Jericho and Gregory Helms were arrested in Kentucky early Wednesday morning when police were called to a gas station and found the wrestlers “extremely intoxicated” and fighting.

Local newspaper The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the two were arrested at a Shell gas station around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday and charged with public alcohol intoxication. TAfter spending about an hour in jail, they were released after each paying $120 fines.

The two had been in nearby Cincinnati, Ohio the previous night for this week’s SmackDown taping.

Jericho posted the following message on Twitter hours before the arrest: “Listening to zakk Wylde and having a GG contest with Hurricane. It’s the woods vs the praries. Praires are winning…”

It’s pure speculation, but some are guessing “GG” stands for Grey Goose (vodka).

Could The Ultimate Warrior & Randy Savage Be Joining TNA?

16

During a recent interview with UGO.com, Hulk Hogan commented on the possibility of Ultimate Warrior and Randy “Macho Man” Savage joining TNA Wrestling.

“The Warrior is not “alive” anymore,” Hogan told UGO.com. “I did a deposition about six months ago where Vince McMahon put out a tape called The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. And I did a deposition. I sat in a room across from him. No other wrestler would testify. He thought I was actually going to help him, but when I told the truth…I seriously doubt he and I would ever work together again. I did tell the truth at the deposition. He’s the worst. He’s horrible. There’s nobody worse than him in the ring. So hopefully I’ll never have to see him again in the ring.”

As far as Savage is concerned, despite their past differences, Hogan would love to have him on board with TNA. He feels if Savage dyed his gray beard and got back into shape, he would be good enough to return to the ring.

“I’d LOVE to see the Macho Man,” Hogan exclaimed. “Dye that old gray Santa Claus beard he’s got. Get back in shape. And teach these young guys how to do it because I could sure use his help. He’s got a great mind for the business.”

Hogan also comments on the removal of the six-sided ring (calling it “a playpen”), when exactly he should have quit wrestling, back shaving tips, and more. You can read the interview in its entirety at the following link.

— Seldom seen SmackDown Superstar Curt Hawkins was given a tryout this past week in Florida Championship Wrestling as a color commentator.

— A SmackDown/ECW house show taking place on Valentine’s Day in Guadalajara, Mexico is sold out.

Maria Being Taken Off Television, Fozzy Album Sales, Sheamus

1

— Maria is being taken off Friday Night SmackDown for the next few months as Celebrity Apprentice has a clause preventing her from appearing elsewhere on television during the period in which the show is on the air.

The third season of Celebrity Apprentice premieres on Sunday, March 14th, 2010. As WWE would say, check your local listings for time and channel.

— Chris Jericho’s fourth Fozzy album, Chasing the Grail, is not expected to sell particularly well as its sales didn’t show up in the hits radar screen for its first day of release. The radar screen charts albums expected to sell 10,000 in the first week and Chasing the Grail is not expected to reach that mark. It is presently ranked at No. 321 in overall music sales on amazon.com and No. 16,867 on barnesandnoble.com.

— WWE Champion Sheamus has several scenes in The Escapist, including a major fight scene. The movie stars famous UK actor Bran Cox and was recently released on DVD.

TNA Title Change Takes Place Tonight At House Show

Rob Terry won the Global Championship from Eric Young at tonight’s TNA live event in Cardiff, Wales — his home country.

Young had held the title, which was formerly the Legends Championship, since October 2009.

TNA president Dixie Carter announced the title change on her Twitter account and posted a photo of Terry holding the title at the following link.

Update On Jeff Hardy's Status With TNA Wrestling

0

Little has been said regarding Jeff Hardy’s status with TNA Wrestling since his return to the promotion during the first live Monday edition of iMPACT! on Jan. 4. TNA did not bother to mention him on subsequent television broadcasts not to mention that the company website has yet to add a bio on him to its roster page.

In an update on the matter, it would appear that Hardy’s appearance three weeks ago on iMPACT! was not a one-time deal and that he will be making further appearances for the promotion in the near future.

Apparently revealing the name of his partnership with Shannon Moore, Hardy tweeted the following on Monday:

“HeavensDemons…airhedge&itchweeed ready to hitTNA with some shockfactor..you dig thy name…HeavensDemons?”

For those unaware, Hardy refers to himself as “itchweed” and Moore as “airhedge.”

The tweet has since been deleted, but it be should be noted that it is legit as Max of Generation Y retweeted his post, calling it a “great name.”

Sid Vicious Looking To Join TNA, "The Pope" Dealing With Illness

— On his Facebook account (which is where the “bizarre hair” photos initially surfaced), Sid Vicious put up a link to a petition for fans to sign concerning “the hiring of Sid Eudy/Sid Vicious to add to the overall benefit of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.”

Regarding the petition, Vicious wrote: “Petitions don’t work…but Sign it anyway just to show them where the Power lies. Spread the Word! Somebody made this Petition as a Labor of love so I Understand how that feels..We all know how it is. you gotta get in there and get your hands dirty and do whatever you got…ta do to get your boys back on TV where they belong…it’s sad but thats the way it is now! it’s all in the fans hands now!”

You can check out the petition at the following link.

— D’Angelo Dinero took ill early in TNA’s European tour and was forced to stay behind in Glasgow, Scotland as result. He is also nursing a hand injury. Fortunately, his health has since gotten better as he returned to the tour last night in Bournemouth.

“Pope is so sick Dr’s would not let him wrestle in Glasgow. He has to stay behind until better,” TNA president Dixie Carter wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

Bischoff Calls WWE's TV Product "Boring", Joe Suffers Injury

0

— During an interview with the Pro Wrestling Torch conducted this past September, Eric Bischoff commented on whether he had given thought to joining TNA Wrestling. In his response, Bischoff called WWE’s television product “boring” and predictable.

“Not really. A, because I don’t watch it. B, because I just don’t think about it. I don’t watch WWE, either. It’s not because I don’t like it. Well, it’s kind of because I don’t like it. It’s just that it’s so boring I can almost tell you what’s going to happen 30 seconds before it happens,” Bischoff told Wade Keller.

“I’m not just talking about the matches, I’m talking about the whole storyline arc of the show. But, I don’t want to say this the wrong way. It’s not a “been there, done that” syndrome, although that’s kind of part of it. It’s that unless it’s really creatively challenging and stimulating, I just don’t think about it. Since I’m not in it and I don’t really watch it, it’s just not something that I think about. I’ve probably thought more about wrestling in the last two interviews I’ve done with you than I have in the last two years.”

It should be noted that Bischoff was in negotiations to work with TNA when the interview took place.

— Samoa Joe dislocated a rib during Monday’s live event in Paris, France. He worked against AJ Styles and Daniels in a three-way bout.

“Dislocated a rib last night. Most fun was explaining the screaming from my room as D-Lo (Brown) popped it back in,” Joe wrote on his Twitter account yesterday morning.

He managed to work his scheduled “I Quit” match against Daniels last night in Bournemouth, England.

TNA iMPACT! Reportedly Moving To Mondays Permanently

19

Get ready for a new war.

Spike TV and TNA Wrestling have decided the time is right to move TNA iMPACT! permanently to Monday nights, according to the Wrestling Observer.

As we reported earlier today, a second Monday night iMPACT! has been scheduled for March 1, head-to-head with WWE RAW for 2 hours.

While it is unclear at this point whether TNA’s official Monday night timeslot will keep the 9-11pm ET timeslot or if that will just be on March 1st.

The Observer reports that the likely taping schedule will be a live on Mondays one week, then tape the following week’s iMPACT! the following day (Tuesday).

We’ll have more on this breaking story very soon, but it now looks like the success of TNA’s January 4th experiment is what gave Spike the confidence to green light a new Monday night war.

Another Monday Night TNA iMPACT! Scheduled For March

7

After TNA Monday night special on January 4th drew a strong 1.5 cable rating, it appears Spike TV has scheduled another live TNA broadcast to go head-to-head with WWE RAW.

According to news correspondent Devin Cutting, Spike TV has  scheduled a second Monday night TNA Impact episode on March 1 from 9-11p.m. EST head-to-head with WWE Raw.

Comedy duo Cheech & Chong are scheduled to host WWE RAW that night.

TNA originally had an Australian tour scheduled from late Feburary to early March and then rescheduled it due to “changes in the U.S. TV production schedule.”

A report on PWInsider.com states that the TNA iMPACT! taping schedule at Universal Studios in Orlando now lists live events on Monday 3/1 and Tuesday 3/1, so it appears the show will be live once again.

Our Thoughts: In the days and weeks following January 4th, executives from Spike TV and TNA Wrestling made it clear they were beyond satisfied with TNA’s ability to hang with WWE on Monday nights. We know that more live specials (and a possible permanent) move are in the works and another Monday night special is a great sign. The face of TNA has been changing by the week and it should be interesting to see what the product even looks like come March 1st.

DDP & Honkey Tonk Man Say They're TNA Bound

0

Add Diamond Dallas Page and the Honkey Tonk Man to the list of wrestling legends that could appear in TNA Wrestling in the coming months.

DDP, who worked for TNA back in 2005, tells Jason Clevett of Slam Wrestling that he’s spoken to Eric Bischoff about coming in for a few appearances:

“Eventually I am sure at some point in time when they need a guest referee I may consider it. I want to do the Piper thing, he shows up for two months and then is gone for nine. That is the only kind of thing I want to do, and I am in the shape to still do it. I probably have ten really good matches left in me, and I am not gonna throw them away or just put them out there. If they are willing to pay me to come back, and it behooves me, maybe.”

Page now focuses on his “Yoga for Real Guys” business and says he’s dropped about 25 pounds since his wrestling days. Since he doesn’t have to carry all that extra muscle, he’s down to a “solid and lean” 230 – with the flexibility of a high school cheerleader:

I can bend over and put my head between my legs, stick my foot over my head and stand one leg. Most guys can’t walk around on two legs!” … You don’t say!

As for the Honkey Tonk Man, the webmaster of his official website posted the following message on HonkeyTonkMan.net:

Honky Tonk Man is very close to signing a deal with TNA! HTM has been in contact with TNA since Early December. More on this breaking News in the next few days.

If there’s one thing misssing from TNA these days, it’s a 57 year old Elvis impersonator.

WWE SmackDown Results: Rumble Go-Home Show

7

SmackDown *SPOILERS*
SmackDown *SPOILERS*

Big thanks to reader Benjamin Tucker for sending in these live results from Tuesday night’s WWE SmackDown tapings from Cincinnati, Ohio:

DX came out but were interrupted by Rey Mysterio, who told Shawn Michaels that he will beat Undertaker at the Royal Rumble. The Straight Edge Society came out as well, only to have Teddy Long come out. He announced C.M. Punk vs. Triple H and Shawn vs. Mysterio. Scratch the tag title match.

(1) Triple H beat C.M. Punk via DQ. The society attacked Hunter, but HBK made the save.

(2) R-Truth beat Chris Jericho.

(3) IC champion Drew McIntyre beat John Morrison in a no DQ match to retain the IC Title. Drew got serious welts from kendo stick shots.

(4) Women’s champion Michelle McCool beat “Piggie” James (Layla as a fat Mickie). Garnered some boring chants.

At this point Undertaker went under the ring. … Batista confronted HBK backstage.

(5) Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels ended in a No Contest when Batista attacked them. Hunter came out and threw himself and Batista over to the ropes to the outside. Taker appeared in the ring and chokeslammed both Mysterio and Shawn to close the show.

There was supposed to be (it seems) an eight-man tag with Batista, Team Punk, and Jericho vs. Mysterio, DX, and Taker, but Batista left because of some sort of kink in his knee.

Jim Ross' Raw Thoughts: Cena-Vince, DX, Dule Hill

0

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update at his official website, JRsBarBQ.com.

Dule Hill’s Job Hosting RAW: “USA’s Psyche star Dule Hill has tons of talent and charisma and was fun to watch host Raw Monday night. Hill has a bright future in television and film, without question. I plan on watching Psyche for the first time Wednesday night when John Cena guest stars.”

Cena’s Interaction with Vince McMahon: Ross called the segment “spot on” and some of the best verbal confrontations he’s seen in a long time. Ross said, “The dialog between Cena and the Chairman of WWE was organic, emotional, and really has me anxious to see Raw next week when Bret “Hitman’ Hart returns to confront McMahon.”

DX’s Promo On RAW: “The serious nature of winning the Royal Rumble match and what it means individually to every competitor was underscored with Monday Night’s DX in ring promo. This was another verbal exchange that captured my interest. DX in a serious tone really captivated my attention.”

To read about who Jim Ross likes for the SuperBowl and much more, visit JRsBarBQ.com.

Our Thoughts: Dule Hill had several entertaining segments and held his own with some of WWE’s best talkers. Cena’s performance showed just how good he can be on the mic and the confrontation felt special. As does Sunday’s Royal Rumble. It’s one of those years where you could see a number of superstars coming out on top and there are several storylines in place that will all come to ahead on Sunday.

RVD Says WWE Is Paranoid He Will Go To TNA

18
Rob Van Dam
Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam mentioned in his latest blog post at RobVanDam.com that WWE is paranoid he’ll wind up working for the competition:

“The constant rumors that I am or have signed with one of the wrestling companies seems to be getting stronger still. Last week, WWE locked me out of my profile page at WWE Universe because they believed I had signed with TNA!”

Van Dam is arguably the hottest free agent in the industry and would surely make some waves if he showed up in TNA. It also shouldn’t be ruled out that Van Dam makes a surprise appearance at Sunday’s Royal Rumble, as we saw last year.

Just last week on the “Busted Open” Sirius satellite radio show, Van Dam said, he’d be open to working for WWE again, but only if the conditions were right. He said, “I can tell you for sure that I have no interest in returning to a full-time schedule like I did before. That’s not going to happen.”

Van Dam continues to wrestle for various independent promotions across the world and could return to the national wrestling scene at any time. With TNA bringing in so much new talent and a work schedule that is far less demanding than WWE, it could be an attractive option for RVD.

Change To TNA's PPV Strategy, Reality TV Stars To TNA?

0

– Word is that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff only want to hold the TNA Slammiversary and Bound For Glory pay-per-views outside of the iMPACT Zone in Orlando, according to f4wonline.com. The idea is that holding all other pay-per-views in Orlando will not only save money but will make the company look less minor league when they fail to sellout other arenas – which has happened a few times before.

– MTV reality star Trishelle Canntella, who was featured on Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling, said on her Twitter page that she loves TNA and would work for them if presented the opportunity.

– Another reality star, Joey Kovar (MTV ‘sReal World & VH1’s Celebrity Rehab) is currently training to be a pro wrestler.
