Ugly Buyrate For MITB PPV, Jericho Talks Young Talent

26

– The projected buyrate is in for July’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view and the disturbing downward trend continues. The company’s corporate website projects the show did 189,000 buys – down almost 30% from from last July’s Night of Champions show, which did 267,000.

Chris Jericho spoke to the UK’s Daily Star about his band Fozzy’s upcoming UK tour. During the interview, he says his spot in WWE is safe no matter what and he’ll always be valued as a top worker for the company. “I’m not one of those people who worries about my position,” Jericho said. “I’m never going to lose my spot. I could work the opening match every night and still be a star.”

Jericho also commented on the young talent getting pushed in WWE. “It’s just the way it is – most of the guys in WWE are young guys and green,” he said. “It’s not like it used to be. I spent nine years going all round the place perfecting my craft – now it’s nine months. The brilliant thing about the Nexus angle is that we’re taking seven guys who have not done a thing and thrown them into the hottest angle they may ever be involved in. You’ve got to take what you have and work with it.”

Details On Luna Vachon Rejecting Offer To Appear At TNA PPV

0

Luna Vachon, who passed away last Friday, was asked to appear at last month’s Hardcore Justice pay-per-view.

When Mick Foley learned that her home had burned down, he suggested that TNA Wrestling utilize her to manage Tommy Dreamer against Raven, since in 1995, she was used as Dreamer’s second to counteract Stevie Richards.

Vachon declined the offer, citing that she had retired.

Tara Revealed As Mystery Biker On Thursday’s “iMPACT!”

7

Former TNA Women’s Knockout Champion Tara was revealed as the mystery biker on Thursday’s episode of iMPACT!. She removed both her helmet and mask following her tag team match victory over “The Beautiful People.”

Tara, who’s real name is Lisa Marie Varon, announced on her MySpace account in late April that she would be leaving TNA Wrestling the following month after refusing to re-sign with the company. To explain her pending departure from the organization, Tara challenged Madison Rayne to a match at Sacrifice, where she would put her career on the line against Rayne’s Women’s Knockout Championship. Tara was defeated by Rayne and her TNA Wrestling career came to an end.

After her wrestling career came to a halt, Varon continued to discuss a new contract with TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter. She returned to the organization on July 11 at Victory Road as a heel, hiding behind a motorcycle helmet and attacking Angelina Love during her match for the Women’s Knockout Championship.

SEScoops Mailbag: Should WWE Move Raw Because Of The NFL?

2

SEScoops Mailbag for September 3rd

(submit YOUR questions to [email protected])

Q: I know this would never happen, but seeing that football season is coming up soon and that tends to drag down Raw’s rating for 4 months, do you think WWE would be able to perform better in the male demographic on a Tuesday or Wednesday? – Donnie P.

A: Maybe, but the difference would be slight. Raw has shifted to Thursdays on occasion and always performed worse because people are creatures of habit. Monday has always been wrestling night and moving Raw to a different slot would harm their viewership rather than help it.

Q: When will WWE expose who the mystery GM is? – Justin

A: When Michael Cole is good and ready. Oops.

Q: Did the old territory system die before or after WrestleMania 3? – Andrew

A: Certain territories were still alive after that third Mania show. It wasn’t a singular date where they all dropped dead, they were phased out through the late 80s/early 90s.

Q: Do I need to graduate from high school in order to join WWE? -Johnny

A: You need to graduate from high school regardless of whether or not you join WWE.

Q: On the “Rise and Fall of ECW” DVD, it states that ECW was the highest rated show on TNN, or at least that’s what Ron Buffone says. What sort of numbers was the show doing and how did it compare with what Raw and Nitro were doing at the time? Also, what was the best PPV number ECW ever did? – Paul Snaith

A: The numbers the TNN show got were nowhere close to what Raw and Nitro were doing, even in the dying days of WCW. They were more comparable to TNA Impact or NXT on SyFy, generally wavering between an 0.7 and 1.1. Highest rated edition was a 1.3 (1/21/00 and 3/3/00) while the lowest rated was the final episode (10/6/00) at an 0.6. As for their PPV numbers, I believe the best one the original ECW ever did was for their second to last show, “Massacre on 34th Street” (12/3/00), but I don’t have the exact number. For the record, the first ECW “One Night Stand” show in 2005 did the greatest number of buys by leaps and bounds, though it was a WWE production that received hype on their programming leading up to the event.

Q: Which gimmick match do you consider pretty funny when watching it now? For example, Abdullah the Butcher getting the electric chair, Giant-Hogan monster truck tug-of-war, Big Bossman vs. Al Snow double cage match with guard dogs, or Triple H vs. Henry Godwin “Hog Pen” match). – Anonymous

A: They’re all pretty ridiculous to look back on. I recall years ago on Raw during the Attitude Era there being a divas match on some sort aptly dubbed an “Over the Top, Off with Your Top” match by Jerry Lawler. Not necessarily as ridiculous as the ones you mentioned, but I still laugh when I think of that clever match title.

Q: This is in regards to the recent A.J. Styles interview where he seemed uncharacteristically critical toward TNA management. As we all know, Fortune launched a program with EV2.0 shortly afterward. Do you think the fans get worked? Seems right up Russo’s alley and the timing seems to point in that direction. – Mike

A: It’s entirely possible. Styles does not seem to have a history of working his public interviews in that manner, and many of the points he hit on are factually true. It is a fact that other wrestlers in TNA legitimately feel the way, so if it was Russo pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes, congratulations. But that doesn’t change the fact that you still have people working in your company who are unhappy and turning it into a storyline won’t do much to help locker room morale.

Q: I’ve been watching wrestling since I was a kid in the early 70’s and was of the mind that Bruno Sammartino was a God. I understand the situation between Bruno and Vince is pretty bad, so I’m not getting my hopes up for the Hall of Fame. I was able to take some comfort in the fact that he was at least pictured in the opening montage that runs prior to every WWE show. However, I’ve noticed he’s been replaced. Is there any reason behind slighting the guy who carried the (then) WWWF title, if not the company, for a total combined twelve years over his two reigns? – Bill (War Machine) Lawless

A: I wouldn’t read too much into it. Yes, there is still animosity between the two sides, mostly from Bruno’s side as WWE has made numerous attempts to get him into the HOF before and he’s always turned them down. They featured him in their opening montage for quite some time before replacing him, but they also replaced others recently including Jim Ross and Gorilla Monsoon, who has always been one of Vince’s favorites. They simply felt it was time to update the montage.

Q: Where do you go to watch Ring of Honor? Is it not on TV because I can’t find it, is it an online thing? – Nathan B.

A: ROH is most definitely on television and can be found Monday nights on HDNet. If you’re cable provider does not offer HDNet, you can easily find full episodes on YouTube.

iMPACT! Going Live In October & More “Major Changes”

23

TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter announced on her Twitter account this afternoon that iMPACT! will be held live on Thursday, October 7. She wrote:

“TNA iMPACT! is going LIVE on 10/7. Remember my tweet about how TNA is going to change forever? Stay tuned”

Carter did not indicate whether iMPACT! will be live on a permanent basis. She also did not say where the event will be held. iMPACT! television tapings are currently listed to take place Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays throughout the rest of the year.

Regarding her previous remark in regards to TNA ‘changing forever’, Carter wrote on June 11, “It’s 6:30 a.m. Been up for hours. So excited I can’t sleep. TNA’s about to change forever. Can’t wait to share it w/you, my staff, the talent.”

Teddy Hart In WWE-Sponsored Rehab, Diva Upset

13

— Teddy Hart, the youngest wrestler to be signed to a WWE contract, recently entered a Texas area rehabilitation center on behalf of his former employer. He is staying at the same facility as former WWE performer Scott Hall.

Hart is claiming that he entered rehab at the urging of his uncle, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart, who said that if he successfully completes the center’s program, would persuade WWE to give him another shot.

During his last run with AAA, Hart managed to unite the entire locker room against him due to his reputation of changing match finishes and spots to put himself over. His mentality is to perform as many flashy maneuvers in his matches as possible, whether they make sense or not.

— The Friday Night SmackDown television taping on December 28, 2010 will be held at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York. Tickets go on sale October 2, 2010. (Thanks to Devin Cutting)

— WWE Women’s Champion Layla is apparently through with Twitter for the time being as she wrote over the weekend that she ‘needs a break from some of the bs’ on the social networking site. She tweeted:

“I think I’m officially off Twitter I need a break from some of the bs on here Tired of some I****S!! Having easy access 2 Me Much luv Lay.”

The tweet came just hours after her response to recent jabs from TNA Wrestling performers “The Beautiful People” made its way onto a number of wrestling websites. There is an unconfirmed rumor going around saying that WWE brass caught wind of the “war of words” and became upset with Layla for taking part.

TNA Brass Losing Faith In Mick Foley, TNA Holding Knockout PPV

11

— While Mick Foley is expected to return to the squared circle in October at TNA Wrestling’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view event, he is no longer considered a long-term in-ring option by those within the organization.

On the night of the company’s big angle where Fortune assaulted EV2.0, the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion was instructed to lie down when the lights went out to give the audience the impression that he was laid out during the sequence. While it’s possible this will play into the storyline, there aren’t many people within TNA who feel they can count on him to put on a good match at this point.

— A new TNA Knockouts-themed pay-per-view broadcast featuring previously aired matches is scheduled to debut Saturday, October 2.

Entitled TNA Wrestling Knockouts: Mad Sexy Vol. 1, its description reads: “TNA Wrestling Knockouts: Mad Sexy Volume 1, hosted by Playboy centerfold and TNA Knockout Christy Hemme, will feature top matches from the past between TNA Knockouts like Angelina Love, Velvet Sky and Gail Kim.”

Reaction To Katie Lea’s TNA Tryout, Angelina Thanks Fans

4

— Regarding former WWE Diva Katie Lea Burchill’s tryout match for TNA Wrestling last week, one observer dubbed her performance as “okay” and “nothing spectacular.” Meanwhile, talk amongst others within the company was more positive.

No word yet on whether she will be offered a contract.

— Tonight’s episode of TNA ReACTION will feature a highly regarded segment on one of the company’s rising stars.

“Watched a rough cut of this weeks ReAction. An amazing segment with one of TNA’s rising stars,” Eric Bischoff wrote on his Facebook page. “One of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. Check it out Thurs night right after iMPACT!”

— The reunion of “The Beautiful People” last Thursday on iMPACT! scored the program’s highest rated segment with a 1.15. Angelina Love caught wind of the news and thanked the fans for their support on her MySpace page, writing: “HUGE thanks to all the fans that watched TNA Impact last week and made the reuniting of the original Beautiful People the highest rated segment on the show!!!!”

RAW Guest Host Calls The Experience A Disaster

15
Actor Justin Long

Actor Justin Long, who hosted WWE RAW on August 16th with “Going The Distance” co-stars Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day, tells MetroNews.ca that the experience was a disaster.

“In no way am I being self-deprecating when I say that was a disaster,” Long said.  “It was just not the audience to be promoting a movie like that to. We were so out of place. It was just awkward. They’re all fired up to see guys pummeling each other, not to see three nerdy comedy guys do some bits. They played the trailer for this crowd and it just silenced them — and not in a good way.”

Long continued, saying the crowd in Los Angeles looked like they were ready to attack him and his fellow co-hosts.

“We were in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, and the only time we really had the audience on our side was when we were praising the Lakers. And before that I think the majority of them were contemplating throwing things at us. There were a few homophobic remarks. I don’t want to generalize it, I know some wrestling fans. But it’s just not the audience.”

Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli Sign New ROH Deals

6

Ring of Honor has announced that ROH Tag Team champions, The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) have signed new deals with the company. Here’s the announcement:

(Bristol, PA- September 2, 2010)- ROH officials are happy to announce that Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli have signed on to stay with Ring of Honor. For Chris Hero, it is an extension of his existing contract and for Claudio Castagnoli it is the signing of a new contract. The current ROH World Tag Team Champions have dominated in the tag team division since reforming at “Final Battle 2009”, and have had some of the most captivating bouts of 2010 including battles against The Briscoes at “The Big Bang” and “Death Before Dishonor VIII” as well as exciting singles bouts like Hero vs. Tyler Black at “Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies 2” and Castagnoli vs. Black at “The Bluegrass Brawl”.

“We are very happy to have Hero & Claudio on board with Ring of Honor for the foreseeable future.” said ROH President Cary Silkin, “These are two of the most talented wrestlers competing today, and it’s quite exciting to see how they will continue to excel not only in our tag team division, but in the singles ranks as well.”

Hero & Claudio will be in action next weekend with an ROH World Tag Team Title defense against Colt Cabana & El Generico in Plymouth, MA on Sept. 10th and a Dream Tag Team match-up against Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas on Sept. 11th at “Glory by Honor IX”.

Backstage Notes On NXT Rookie Diva AJ Lee

11

Regarding NXT Rookie Diva AJ Lee, WWE’s creative department discussed changing the 23-year-old’s ring name due to a rival promotion’s wrestler sharing the same first name, but ultimately felt it was no concern.

WWE officials originally intended to promote Lee over the summer to the SmackDown brand as a new babyface Diva, replacing released performer Mickie James as ‘the cute small girl’. A vignette featuring Lee aired before the live crowd at the July 6th Friday Night SmackDown television taping om Atlanta, Georgia but cut from the television broadcast because they were introducing Alberto Del Rio via vignettes and felt that other talent shouldn’t be introduced simultaneously.

Lee, who’s real name is believed to be April Jeanette, started wrestling independently in the Northeast in 2007, two years after graduating from high school. While plying her trade on the indy circuit, Lee attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in New York City, majoring in Film and Television production. With just over 20 matches under her belt, she attended WWE’s May 2009 talent evaluation clinic and nabbed a developmental deal — the first female with prior wrestling experience to be signed to a contract in over two years.

Lee debuted in Florida Championship Wrestling in August 2009 and has been among the most prominently featured performers in the developmental promotion since then. She currently reigns as the Queen of FCW.

Of the six NXT season three contestants, Lee is the only contestant with prior WWE wrestling experience, having just competed last week at a SmackDown live event in Odessa, Texas. She is regarded as ‘far and away’ the best in-ring performer of the cast and thus considered the favorite entering the competition.

NXT Season Related To WWE’s Unhappiness With Its Divas

21

The decision to make the third season of NXT an all-women’s show was likely made very recently because last week, WWE filmed twelve wrestlers at Florida Championship Wrestling, eight men and four women. Initial plans called for four men and four women to be featured in the abbreviated season, but it was later changed to six women.

There is hope that the show will garner better ratings with women prominently featured so they can reach a television deal with another network. There is also hope that Aloisia’s “freak of nature” persona will increase ratings so Syfy will change its mind and renew the program.

Another aspect revolves around unhappiness with many of its current female performers, resulting in the company looking for replacement Divas. Talent relations were unhappy with the behavior of several of the women in recent weeks, particularly when much of the roster was situated in Los Angeles for SummerSlam. It is said that Tiffany and the recently released Serena were not the only ones who made embarrassing scenes in public. Officials are very strict regarding the public image of its talent because of promises to corporate sponsors that World Wrestling Entertainment is a wholesome company.

As things stand now, the lame duck show will end its current season on October 1, with a live episode in Oklahoma City as part of a three-hour programming block that will include the network’s debut of Friday Night SmackDown.

WWE Issues Statement Addressing Substance Abuse

11

Mere hours after Luna Vachon’s death last Friday, World Wrestling Entertainment issued a statement addressing the many former wrestlers who have passed away as a result of substance abused related issues.

The statement reads:

“Not withstanding our extensive Talent Wellness Program for current Superstars, WWE goes to great lengths to help our former talent who may have substance abuse problems, offering complete drug rehabilitation at no cost to them. Ultimately, however, stars in any form of entertainment should be held personally responsible for their own actions. Prescription drug overdose is a problem not only with former WWE talent, but society as a whole according to the Center for Disease Control, as it is the second leading cause of unintentional death (particularly among younger people) in the U.S.”

Austin Likes CM Punk, Cena Rags On Himself, NXT Finale Rating

20

– Steve Austin commented on Twitter about CM Punk using his music and calling him out on Monday’s RAW:

“Got a lot of reports of CM Punk using my ring music and calling me out…I enjoy his work and wish him the best. Go get em kid.”

– John Cena was asked on Twitter whether he’s interested in being an NXT pro and gave a pretty funny response.

“yes I asked, and was denied. Apparently u need more than 2 moves to offically be called a “pro” (enjoy that one)”

For all the Cena haters out there, you can’t say he doesn’t have a good attitude about it.

– Chris Jericho is working on the final draft of his latest book and has suffered an extremely frustrating setback:

“Was only able to recover 20% of the final book edit. I am now officially 80% insane…”

– The NXT Season 2 finale drew a  1.02 rating and averaged 1,323,000 viewers.

James Dismisses TNA Rumors, Jarrett Marries Angle’s Ex-wife

7

— TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter announced the signing of a new talent on her Twitter account on Monday, noting the individual as someone people ‘have been asking about’. Many names have been speculated, however, one person that can be ruled out is former WWE Diva Mickie James.

James’ manager Mary Michael released the following statement to Diva-Dirt.com dismissing rumors that her client has signed with TNA Wrestling: “To lay the rumors to rest, as of yet I can confirm that Mickie James has not signed a deal with TNA.”

— Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle’s ex-wife Karen have indeed gotten married. According to an individual with access to the former TNA Knockout’s private Facebook page, the couple tied the knot last month.

— For those unaware, the recently formed alliance of Magnus and Desmond Wolfe is called London Brawling, not London Calling.

Male Wrestlers Considered For NXT, WWE Highlighting Mullets

9

— Among those considered for the third season of NXT before WWE officials decided to make it a Diva-exclusive program were reigning FCW Champion Mason Ryan (a former UK Gladiator and bodybuilder who resembles Batista), Xavier Woods (a/k/a Consequences Creed), as well as second generation performers Bo Rotundo (younger brother of Husky Harris), Wes Brisco (son of Gerald Brisco) and Richie Steamboat (son of Ricky Steamboat). (source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

— All September, WWE Classics On Demand will be “Superstar Chic”, featuring ‘Superstars with unforgettable trendsetting looks’. Matches pitting wrestlers with mullets are featured in the “Shorties” section. Bouts featured include Eddie Guerrero vs. Johnny B. Badd, Rick Rude, Brutus Beefcake, Shawn Michaels vs. Crush, Scott Hall vs. Curt Hennig and Jake Roberts vs. Randy Savage, among others.

SmackDown Star Out For Several Months – Contains Spoiler

4

Joey Mercury will be out of action for several months after undergoing surgery over the weekend to repair a torn pectoral muscle. It’s considered a six month recovery process.

Despite the injury, Mercury is expected to remain on television since he had his arm on Monday’s Raw just days after surgery. Many feel that with Serena’s recent release, it wasn’t a good time to remove Mercury from television since the Straight Edge Society wouldn’t be much of a group with two people. However, Punk and Gallows broke up at the following night’s SmackDown television taping, so the injury may have been the catalyst to disband the group.

Update On The Future Of NXT, Shortest Match In WWE History

7

— World Wrestling Entertainment is expected to rush through the current season of NXT with the final episode airing on October 1 just before the premiere of Friday Night SmackDown on Syfy. The third season of NXT will feature five episodes.

While company officials adore NXT and have vowed it will continue, they have been unable to land a new home for the show. With that being said, there was a discussion this past week of moving the show to WGN America. Vince McMahon said that ideally, they would keep both NXT and WWE Superstars.

— In regards to Sheamus’ eleven second win over Zack Ryder on last week’s Raw being the shortest WWE Championship Match in history, it is not. It is believed that the shortest WWE Championship Match in history was Diesel’s victory over Bob Backlund on November 26, 1994, which lasted eight seconds. The shortest WWE match in history is believed to be The Rock defeating Big Bossman in four seconds at the 1998 Survivor Series.

— Jerry Lawler’s Memphis Wrestling television program scored a 0.7 local rating on August 21, which equals approximately 11,000 viewers.

Bischoff Talks Monday Nights, Bret Hart, Hogan & Russo

12

TNA’s Eric Bischoff was one of the special guests on this week’s live edition (08/30/09) of the Monday Night Mayhem radio show. You can listen to an MP3 of Bischoff’s appearance here.

Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:

His reaction to those wrestling fans that ask the question “Where is the controversy in TNA?” and if we will be seeing that on TNA programming in the coming weeks/months: “I think that you will. One of the challenges in the business today, and the same is true in the WWE, what can we do that hasn’t been done to death in the last 10 to 12 years? When I launched Nitro, and we did all the ridiculous stuff & controversial stuff that I did that put WCW on the map, nobody had ever done it before, and that’s what made it controversial. That’s why I was the ‘anti-Christ’ for wrestling fans, because I was doing things no one had done before. Giving away finishes live on the air five minutes before the competition’s show went on. All these things people said was stupid & ridiculous, how do you do that again? How does Vince McMahon do all things that are ground-breaking, controversial, & water cooler buzz? How does he recreate those elements in the guidelines of a televised wrestling show? How do you recreate that in today’s environment? Is there going to be controversy in TNA? Of course there is. Are we seeing right now? Without giving anything away, I think we’re setting it up. In the months to come, people are going to see some things that are controversial, but I don’t think anyone should raise the bar of expectations so high that we are magically going to get back to that virgin territory that we enjoyed 10 or 12 years ago.”

How much input he usually has into an edition of TNA iMPACT, his response to those that strongly believe that Hulk Hogan & himself are “running TNA,” and the current chemistry between himself & Vince Russo: “It varies a lot depending on the week. I’ve read some of the comments of some of your other guests on Monday Night Mayhem talking about me, and I think Kevin Kelly was one of the ones I read last, and I know people out there think and are under the assumption that Eric Bischoff & Hulk Hogan are ‘running TNA.’ Nothing is farther from the truth. We have nothing to do with the strategy of the company. We have nothing to do with the marketing of the company. Nobody talks to us or asks us about talent acquisitions or people getting fired. We have little to do with the day-to-day operations of TNA. The same is kinda true with regards to creative. I work closely with Vince Russo, I see the formats, I give my suggestions. Vince & I have a great working relationship, and in regards to chemistry, I would say besides my partner Jason Hervey and Hulk, there’s no one better that I have a working relationship with.”

The Internet’s constant stream of hating against TNA & why it’s easier for fans to point out the flaws of TNA than those of the WWE: “Let me put it to you this way: Misery loves company. It’s easier for people who are negative, who want to criticize without really having anything intelligent to say and without it being constructive criticism. It’s one of the reasons why I constantly am trying to raise the bar, eliminating one stupid fan at a time. When I see the kind of comments like ‘TNA Sucks’ or ‘Your storylines blow,’ or ‘Fire Russo, or ‘Fire Bischoff,’ or ‘Hogan sucks,’ I laugh at that stuff because there are a lot of people out there and because misery loves company. Let’s face it, WWE is a giant bandwagon. It’s been around a long time. It’s easier & safer when you’re the type of person who is looking for a group of miserable people to jump on the bandwagon that’s successful, because the WWE is a cable television juggernaut. It is what it is. So it’s easy to jump on that bandwagon and look down at TNA for its warts, blemishes, bumps, bruises, & dents because there’s plenty of them. TNA is not WWE. It’s not a billion dollar company with the kind of infrastructure & production staff taking their show live on the road every week. There’s so many things that we don’t have that it’s easy to point out our flaws. I think if you look at what TNA does, and does well, and tries to do. We are ‘the little engine that’s trying.’ There’s some great talent in the ring, I think we have the greatest balance of new, young & exciting talent, established talent that rates well despite what everyone else wants to believe on the Internet. If you’re objective and you’re a real wrestling fan, you’re gonna have comments, and while you may not like certain things that are happening in TNA, you’ll find plenty of things to like.”

Bret Hart’s comments about Vince McMahon “stomping out” TNA from Monday nights, the impact “The Hitman” may have had in making that a reality, & what the final outcome would have been for TNA on Monday nights had Bret Hart never come back to the WWE: “I like Bret so much so it’s hard for me to comment about things like this. Bret Hart is a little pre-occupied with the legacy of Bret Hart. Not going to deny it, the move to Monday night was a mistake. It is what it is. It was ill-conceived, it was bad timing, it was a risk, and it was a risk that didn’t pan out. I’ve taken plenty of risks that didn’t work out, and I’ve taken some risks that have. Vince McMahon has taken some risks that worked and taken plenty of risks that hasn’t. The move to Monday night was a miss, and I’ll take as much responsibility for that as anybody else. I don’t think any of it had anything to do with Bret Hart. I think if Bret Hart would have never come back to WWE, the outcome of our Monday night effort would have been exactly the same.”

His thoughts on this Sunday’s No Surrender Pay-Per-View & why his primary focus will be on the semi-finals of the TNA World Title Tournament: “I think there are some great matches on the card. The primary thing that I’m focused on is our ‘A-story,’ which is who is going to become TNA World Heavyweight Champion. You got four powerful names there, four very exciting talents four guys who could deliver anywhere in the world in either company. You got four guys who are great storytellers and can deliver in the ring. If there’s a reason to watch the Pay-Per-View, that’s the one thing I would encourage people to follow & watch, because it’s another chapter in a pretty interesting story that we laid out back in March, and I’m excited about it.”
