WWE Confirms Final Class Of 2010 Inductee

WWE issued the following today, confirming an earlier reports that baseball great and WrestleMania celebrity Bob Uecker will be the final member inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this weekend:

MR. BASEBALL BOB EUCKER ENTERING WWE HALL OF FAME

STAMFORD, Conn. – World Wrestling Entertainment (NYSE: WWE) today announced that baseball legend Robert “Bob” Uecker will be “in the front row” when he is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Uecker will be inducted by Dick Ebersol, Chairman, NBC Universal Sports & Olympics, at the 2010 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Arizona this Saturday. The ceremony will run on USA Network at 11 PM ET.

Bob Uecker, affectionately known as “Mr. Baseball,” has a long and glorious history at WrestleMania. While best known for his work as the radio play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers and his numerous acting credits, he participated in two WrestleManias. In 1987, Uecker appeared as a ringside announcer at WrestleMania III at the Pontiac Silverdome and the next year, Uecker was the backstage interviewer at WrestleMania IV at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City.

“Bob Uecker cemented his place in WWE history with his appearances at WrestleMania III and IV,” said Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon. “Seeing the huge hands of WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant around Uecker’s neck is a clip that became immortalized in pop culture history.”

Uecker made his major league debut as a catcher with the Milwaukee Braves in 1962. Uecker also played for the St. Louis Cardinals and won the World Series with the club in 1964. After retiring as a player, Uecker returned to Milwaukee. In 1971, he began calling play-by-play for the Milwaukee Brewers radio broadcasts, a position he holds to this day. Uecker also played the part of “George Owens” on the television sitcom, Mr. Belvedere and play-by-play announcer “Harry Doyle” in the Major League film series.

Others to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 27, as part of WrestleMania week, include pop culture icon Gorgeous George, Ted “The Million Dollar Man” DiBiase Sr., former Women’s Champion Wendi Richter, Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon, Stu Hart and Japanese legend Antonio Inoki.

Who's Backstage At Impact?, Hall & Nash Comment On Reunion

0

— Rob Van Dam, Jeff Hardy, Sting and Mick Foley are backstage at iMPACT! and advertised to appear during tonight’s show. All four superstars were left off last night’s Destination X pay-per-view. It’s worth noting that in the company website’s preview for tonight’s show, they weren’t initially advertised to appear. However, their names have since been listed.

— Last night’s pay-per-view saw a reunion of the Wolfpack as Kevin Nash turned on Eric Young to help Scott Hall and Syxx-Pac pick up the victory, thus giving them contracts with the company. Both Hall and Nash commented on their reunion.

Nash wrote on Twitter: “Wolfpac is back! very proud of Scott. last night will be etched in my memory forever. dont forget to watch impact 9-11 on spike. I’ll be watching 2nite. worth watching just 2 see how good Scott looked at ppv if u missed it.”

Hall wrote on Facebook: “And THE BAND IS BACK TOGETHER….did you really expect anything else? Don’t blink…who knows what will happen next…”

Apparently, WWE doesn’t own the term Wolfpac when they purchased WCW intellectual property, thus meaning TNA is free to use it.

— The TV Guide preview for tonight’s iMPACT! is as follows: “Fallout from the Destination X pay-per-view event, including AJ Styles’ title defense.”

Carter Comments On Whether There Will Be An Impact Replay

4

— Dixie Carter announced on her Twitter account that there will not be a replay of tonight's episode of iMPACT! on Spike. She wrote: “Ok, Im serious this time,” Carter wrote. “There will be no replay of Impact this (week). No really. Don’t laugh. Tonight on Spike is only time to catch it.”

Rambo is currently scheduled to air during TNA’s former time slot.

— As seen last night at Destination X, Scott Hall and Syxx-Pac faced Kevin Nash and Eric Young in a tag team match with their future in TNA on the line. Ultimately, Nash turned on Young and helped “The Band” pick up the victory, which gave them contracts with the company. Both Hall and Waltman have since been added to TNA’s roster page.

— Jesse Godderz of Big Brother attended last night’s Destination X pay-per-view.

Who Has The Best Win/Loss Record In WWE?, Chat With Melina

5

— Believe it or not, but Nikki of The Bella Twins has the best win/loss record in all of WWE as she has yet to lose a single bout this year. She currently sits at 21-0. Her sister Brie sits at 21-1 as she lost a singles match to Maryse back in January. The only other wrestlers yet to lose a match this year are Tiffany (5-0), Heath Slater (3-0), Mr. McMahon (1-0) and Hornswoggle (1-0).

The wrestler with the worst record in all of WWE is Jillian Hall as she has competed in 19 matches this year and lost all of them. Trailing behind Hall is Mike Knox as he too has yet to garner a single victory. He presently sits at 0-17.

It’s interesting to note that WWE Champion Batista is 2-24 so far this year (with 3 no decisions). Other wrestlers with less than stellar win/loss records include Chavo Guerrero (2-23), William Regal (2-24), Alicia Fox (2-31) and Carlito (1-31).

— Speaking of The Bella Twins, the WWE website has posted new studio photos of them here.

— Melina noted on her Twitter account that she will chatting live tonight with fans. Click here for more information. She will also be on hand for tonight’s Raw, but simply as a visitor.

RVD Comments On TNA Not Using Him At Destination X

7

TNA star Rob Van Dam posted the following message on his official website over the weekend .. Van Dam says he showed up to the airport on Saturday to fly to Orlando assuming he was booked for last night’s TNA Destination X pay-per-view:

Well, it sure is nice to hear people on the streets telling me they’re glad I’m back. For almost three years I’ve heard how much they “need” me back. Tonight when I go through the airport I’ll most likely hear “Dude, I’m so glad you’re back” and I’ll smile, thinking of these words that you and I have shared. It’s almost like we have an inside joke. Isn’t that special?

I guess I was a little too anxious to hear those words last night, as I was told at the airport that I was 24 hours early!

My bad. Thought I was booked or something.

I actually had several reasons to think I was expected at a pay per view from conversations earlier in the week, and the schedule they gave me, but it all boils down to me not paying attention. I simply didn’t know what the date was yesterday or I would’ve known I misunderstood plans. That’s what happens when you don’t worry about anything, and are so care free you don’t plan ahead.

Sometimes it bites you in the ass!

Sunny Penning Book, Maria Kanellis Talks "Celebrity Apprentice"

0

— Former WWE performer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch is currently working on a book about her time in the wrestling business which she hopes will be out next year.

“It’s going to be a fun book,” Sytch told the Asbury Park Press. “I’m not out to trash anybody or ruin people’s marriages or expose who did what kind of steroid, it’s going to be a fun read. It’s all about all the fun stuff that happens on the road that nobody knows about unless you’re there.”

You can read the article in its entirety here.

Speaking of Sytch, she will be one of the featured performers at Independent Superstars of Professional Wrestling’s ISPWMania event on Saturday at the 3-2 Count Athletic Facility in Freehold, New Jersey.

“She’s one of the biggest female names out there in the history of wrestling and she lives right in New Jersey; it would be crazy not to capitalize on having someone (with) that wealth of knowledge of the wrestling business and such a talented performer,”said ISPW owner and promoter Tommy Fierro.

For more information on the show, visit www.ISPWLive.com.

— Click here to read a just published interview Maria Kanellis took part in before she was released by WWE. She discusses Celebrity Apprentice, her music, being depicted on a recent episode of South Park, WrestleMania, and more. Regarding WrestleMania, she was hoping she’d get a title shot at the grand show.

“I really, really want to win women’s champion,” Kanellis told Crave Online. “But you know what? It’s been five years and if it takes another five, I’ll keep trying. I really will. I will keep trying until WWE says I can’t try no more.”
