Creative Plans Are Being Pitched for Nic Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler) in AEW

0

Former WWE Superstar Nic Nemeth may be All-Elite soon enough if those working within AEW have their way.

Nemeth was released from WWE in September of this year, ending his nearly two-decade career with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut. Nemeth is best known for his time as Dolph Ziggler and is a two-time former World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWE NXT Champion. The Show-Off was arguably the biggest name cut from WWE during the September releases.

Nic Nemeth is All-Elite?

Next week, Nemeth’s 90-day non-compete clause will expire and he will be free to work and sign with any promotion that wants him. Sources in AEW who spoke to WrestlePurists have stated that there is a push within the promotion for Nemeth to be signed when the time is right. There have already been multiple creative pitches being drawn up for Nemeth. One idea would see the Show-Off paired with fellow WWE alum CJ Perry. Perry and Nemeth had an on-screen romance in 2015 during which Nemeth would feud with Perry’s real-life husband Rusev (now AEW’s Miro.)

What’s Next for Nic Nemeth?

We don’t know for certain if Nemeth will join AEW but the former WWE World Champion isn’t struggling to find work outside of WWE. The former Ziggler has been announced for WWC’s Euphoria show which will take place on January 20. Nemeth will compete against Ray González at the event. Nemeth will also be part of the MCW Fan Jam convention that is set to take place on February 4. Fellow WWE alum Matt Riddle has also been announced.

Dominik Mysterio has a big advantage in connecting with WWE fans

0

Dominik Mysterio is a heat magnet in WWE and one current AEW star thinks he knows exactly why.

On Monday’s episode of “Busted Open Radio,” Mark Henry gave his veteran insight as to what makes Dirty Dom so darn good at getting a reaction from fans.

“I put him in the same category as The Rock and the Harts and people that come from pro wrestling,” Henry said. “They have [a] legacy — Randy Orton. There are things that Dominik does that are just intuitive. You can tell he just picked it up. It’s not trained.”

Henry makes note that it’s just like Dom is playing with his wrestling toys as a kid and learning what makes a great heel due to his dad being such a great babyface.

“He knows what he’s doing. And all those years of watching his dad,” he continued, “and all those years of knowing what the bad guy did, knowing all of those things of what his dad had to fight through to get to be who he was. I think it’s paying dividends for him.”

Rey certainly had his share of heelish adversaries, perhaps most notably, Eddie Guerrero, who Dominik was the primary aspect of a storyline between his dad and his late Uncle Eddie.

Now Dom Mysterio will be having a top babyface dance partner in CM Punk, who is set to face Dom at an upcoming WWE live event. Ironically enough, Punk was another name who Rey Mysterio had a notorious feud with.

CM Punk is a game changer for WWE’s next TV deal

0

CM Punk’s return to WWE not only was a big-time moment for pro wrestling fans, but the business side of things too.

Since he ended his near 10-year hiatus from WWE, Punk has been a presence on every WWE program since with the exception of the December 4 Raw. He likely won’t be missing many more Monday nights as he officially signed on with the red brand to be a member of their roster.

During his promo on Raw, Punk cited the serendipity of being in Cleveland, OH, the very city where he left WWE back in 2014 at the Royal Rumble. However, CM Punk signing on with Raw has likely a little more business behind it than just coincidence.

“Things Are Changing Greatly”

Back in September, WWE and NBC Universal announced a 5-year media rights partnership that will bring SmackDown back to the USA Network in October 2024. WWE is currently shopping around the rights to carry WWE Raw and they’re expected to land another blockbuster deal.

We saw All Elite Wrestling launch an entire series around Punk back in June, AEW Collision. A lot has transpired since then, but Punk is once again a driving force in his home promotion scoring big money TV deals.

On Tuesday, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted on social media that “things are changing greatly” with WWE’s media rights negotiations. Punk is proving once again that he can drive business like very few can.

“Things are changing greatly. Let’s just say things changed greatly with Raw negotiations from a few weeks ago. And Punk is a huge part of the selling point.”

Punk has undoubtedly brought in the eyes and the bucks for WWE since his surprise comeback. After Survivor Series Punk’s first appearance back on Raw boosted viewership by nearly 30%. Additionally, the post on X announcing his return broke a social media record for WWE and perhaps most notably Punk has became an immediate merchandise mover.

The very night of Survivor Series, CM Punk’s new WWE merchandise sales found itself up into the six-figure tier.

CM Punk’s WWE return match has been announced. The Straight Edge Superstar will face Dominik Mystery on the upcoming holiday live events tour.

Crew Members Take Us Behind the Scenes of ‘The Iron Claw’

0

One of the most buzzed-about films this holiday season is A24’s The Iron Claw. Yes, it centers on pro wrestling but the story transcends the ring. The movie follows the life of Kevin Von Erich and the Von Erich family, which was snake-bitten by a string of unspeakable tragedies.

From the outside looking in, they were Texas royalty during the peak of patriarch Fritz’s World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) based in Dallas. Given the project was written and directed by Sean Durkin, who happens to be a big fan, you know a lot of time and care went into making sure the presentation was as authentic as possible.

This was not only a unified goal by the star-studded cast including Zac Efron (Kevin Von Erich), Jeremy Allen White (Kerry Von Erich), Harris Dickinson (David Von Erich), Lily James (Pam Adkisson), and others. It trickled down to the unsung heroes working on set behind the scenes as well.

The Iron Claw

The Iron Claw: The Interview

Jennifer Starzyk (Costume Designer), Elle Favorule (Makeup Department Head), and Natalie Shea Rose (Hair Department Head) got together to discuss their process. Favorule in particular was no stranger to pro wrestling, working on Lucha Underground.

“That show beautifully combined live wrestling matches with a scripted vignette series,” she said. “Being a part of that was so exciting. I was immediately sucked in. I knew nothing about wrestling or the amazing characters that were coming in. The athleticism that these people brought each day and doing multiple matches a day. I was like, ‘You guys got me hooked.’ The fans surround the entire world with luchadors from Mexico and worldwide stars from WWE and other places. That was my first foray.”

A24

For Rose, the movie was a trip down memory lane. An admitted Hulkamaniac growing up, she was fully transfixed by the 1980s larger-than-life figure. “I knew going into it how much all these characters meant to the fans because they were my heroes,” Rose said. “Up until my parents told me I had to stop watching because me and my brother would wrestle each other. They were like, “I don’t know if we want you watching this anymore.”

Starzyk makes no bones about the fact she did not watch wrestling, know wrestling, and even had those preconceived notions about it. The cynical perspective softened as she became more immersed and went down the proverbial rabbit hole. Now Starzyk considers herself a fan with a newfound respect for the craft.

“It’s live theater, it’s so dynamic, so electric. These performers need to know the choreography and work together. There is showmanship and costumes. I feel it’s a gift getting to know wrestling now. I enjoyed all that. Not to mention we’re all in this with Sean. He was such a beloved fan of this and the story, so when you hear him talking when we first met. It touches people.”

The new admirer hit the ground running on costumes with her team. Her deep dive included watching Dark Side of the Ring, Heroes of World Class Wrestling, and sifting through the Von Erich’s photo albums. It’s where she got a sense of the vibe, presentation, and feel for the time and atmosphere. Another source was binging 13 seasons of the classic TV series Dallas.

Rose had her own experiences being from Houston and spending time on the family ranch in Buffalo, Texas. She knew, when it came to things like hair for example, people in Dallas wore their hair different than in other cities and regions.

“It’s not the 1980s where everyone is glammed up or done up. Out in the country, [the Von Erich’s] were rock stars, but weren’t done all up the same way…They didn’t do their hair like when you see the 1970s or 1980s portrayed. It was about keeping that authenticity.”

A24

When it comes to period pieces, authenticity is key. And this trio knew they wanted to get it painstakingly right. For Favorule, the baseline was the understanding that these were real people. The challenge was to show the change in years and look visually. But with so much bandwidth, it was about finding the middle ground. Quality photos also weren’t the best. This made it harder to zoom in on the little things.

“Did the guys shave their legs? What’s the tan situation like? We’re getting into the nitty gritty,” Favorule explained. “…Zac, Jeremy, and Harris multiple times have told the story where during our camera test Zac and Jeremy meet for the first time and Jeremy is in my chair and my key Courtney is on the ground full body shaving Jeremy. As Zac walks in to introduce himself, everyone starts laughing because this is the world we’re going to be in the next few months. So get ready.”

A few liberties here and there have to be taken in the world of cinema. However, when it came to all aspects of pro wrestling, the team was thankful to have great experts on set at all times. The pro wrestlers themselves include consultant Chavo Guerrero, who brings a wealth of knowledge from his own time in the ring but on the sets of GLOW and Young Rock. He also portrays Edward “The Sheik” Farhat in the film.

“He taught me how they tuck in their laces of boots or where a knee pad should feel,” Starzk said. “[The wrestlers] were so open to wanting to dress up as people they admired as well. The clothes fit differently than back then. Especially, with our main boys. The Von Erich trunks were higher and worn up to their belly button where now they wear them down. Zac would want to pull them up where we’re like, ‘No, it’s down.’ We met in the model where it should fit on the body.

She continued: “When Chavo put on The Sheik trunks, he was like this is the most covered I think I’ve ever been almost a big diaper with a camel on it. They were so much fun to work with because they were such decent people and wanted the film to be a hit as well.”

MJF and The Iron Claw

Other familiar faces fans may know who helped on set were Ryan Nemeth (Gino Hernandez) and Brady Pierce (Michael Hayes), and of course, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (Lance Von Erich). All three speak highly of MJF, describing a different side of him many may not see away from the bright lights of the arenas. Favorule recalls one particular moment when Durkin let his mega fan flag wave.

“We spent a day with him in the trailer testing out hair and makeup making sure we brought the character to life. Natalie and her team were working on wig stuff and Sean was like, ‘How is he? Can I go in there and say hi?’ He was so excited to get in there with him. MJF was the loveliest. He was so excited to be there. That energy transcended every department.”

Starzyk added: “Maxwell was a total blast on set. I watched him before and was like, “I got to get the answer on this Burberry scarf. He had just won the title and it had this Burberry print on his belt because you can customize the belts.
He was delightful and a blast, funny, professional, and rolled with it… He even asked to keep this purple jumpsuit.”

The three were individually touched by the finished product. “It’s easy to get swept up in these emotional performances because they are so real and true,” Favorule said. “Getting to see it, I remember being in Dallas and looking at the screen it’s so easy to nitpick your work. Then these big emotional scenes come up and then that washes away and I‘m focused on this film…Being able to be part of the story that means so much to so many people, I looked back at my fiancée, and she had tears streaming down. She was like, “I think I need to call my brothers. It was that sort of film. I think everyone will take something different from it.

Starzyk was moved by Kevin Von Erich, not only by his touching story but how he has weathered the black cloud of tragedy. Despite the loss of so much of his family, the Hall of Famer has somehow persevered. “He had to overcome so much, I have so much admiration for him,” she said. “I said that to him at the premiere and he was like, ‘I’m a regular guy and stuff happened to me.’ That’s the person he is. It’s a choice to wrestle barefoot, be Zen, and move to Hawaii. Those things give him a sense of being grounded.”

Getting confirmation of a job well done by the family also filled Rose’s heart. It also was a further motivator and source of inspiration.

“While we were shooting Kerry’s daughters came up to me. We also had Kevin’s sons. “They were like, “That’s what dads’ hair looked like. That meant a lot to me that we did it right and did it justice.”

The Iron Claw opens in theaters on December 22.

CM Punk vs Dominik Mysterio Set for Holiday WWE Live Events

0

Fans will see CM Punk compete in the ring later this month, in the Best in the World’s first match in WWE since his return at Survivor Series.

The former AEW World Champion returned to WWE in the closing moments of WWE’s most recent main roster PLE. The event marked Punk’s first WWE appearance since the 2014 Royal Rumble and his first appearance in wrestling since his AEW release in September of this year.

CM Punk Back in Action

On this week’s Raw, CM Punk declared himself for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, but he’ll be back in the ring far sooner than that.

Punk has been announced for matches on two upcoming shows – CM Punk will face ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio at the December 26 event from Madison Square Garden and the December 30 event in Inglewood, California.

These won’t just be Punk’s first WWE matches in close to a decade, but will also be Punk’s first matches in months. The Best in the World’s most recent match saw him retain the ‘Real’ World Championship against Samoa Joe at AEW All In.

WWE Live – December 30

Punk’s first WWE match in close to a decade will be just one part of a stacked show. Other matches confirmed for the night include:

  • Seth Rollins (c) Vs. Drew McIntyre Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
  • IYO SKY (c) Bianca Belair Vs. Charlotte Flair (WWE Women’s Championship.

Cody Rhodes was set to face ‘Dirty Dom’ in a Last Man Standing match at the event. It remains to be seen who Rhodes will face at the show with Dominik now facing CM Punk.

CM Punk is Ready to ‘Take Over the World’ Says Ex-UFC Champion

0

CM Punk is once again a WWE Superstar and is ready to take over the world of wrestling once more, according to Anthony Pettis.

The former AEW World Champion returned to WWE at the Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 Premium Live Event. The event marked Punk’s first WWE appearance since the 2014 Royal Rumble and his first appearance in wrestling since his AEW release in September of this year.

CM Punk is Ready to Take Over the World

CM Punk has made an impact since returning to WWE and fans can expect that the continue. Speaking with Sportskeeda, Anthony Pettis, a former UFC Lightweight Champion recalled meeting with Punk before Survivor Series and their interaction following the Best in the World’s return.

“I had CM Punk as a special guest on APFC, the weekend before they [WWE] announced his comeback. He didn’t say nothing about it. So we were hanging out in APFC chilling. Nate Diaz was there, Frank Mir was there, Rampage Jackson was there, Yair Rodriguez, we had a squad in walk. You know this is a dope event. And he didn’t say nothing about it bro.

“One of the most humblest guys you ever meet and one of the hardest-working guys you ever met. I was very excited for him. I text him right away and I think his response was ‘Let’s take over the world brother’ and I’m like ‘Yeah let’s go man!’ It’s awesome.”

What’s Next for CM Punk?

Punk’s intentions to ‘take over’ will seemingly result in the Chicago-Made star facing Seth Rollins. The reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion has made his issues clear with Punk’s return following the hostile comments Punk had for WWE during his nine-year absence. On this week’s Raw, Punk exclusively signed with the red brand and announced his participation in next month’s Men’s Royal Rumble match

Jade Cargill’s recent social media inactivity raised questions among fans, prompting curiosity about the reason. Cargill posted to update fans today, and she had heartbreaking news to deliver.

While taking to her Instagram, Jade Cargill shared the news of her mother’s passing yesterday after a prolonged battle with cancer. She posted a photo holding her mother’s hand in the hospital, followed by an old picture of her mother in the next slide.

”You put up a good fight mom. But God has bigger plans for you. I’m so proud of you. Our last mother ??. I know grandma and great grandma was there waiting, elated to bring you in. It’s never goodbye, it’s see you later. YOU taught me that.

Yesterday my mother lost in the battle with cancer. I will never question what God has in store for us, I am thankful God gave us such an outstanding, loving mother…I’ll see you later

WWE Dropping Physical Media is Bad for Fans

0

The first wrestling tape I’d ever seen was Hulkamania – it was the second tape made by the World Wrestling Federation’s Coliseum Video team, and the first featuring a single wrestler.

This tape was all over. If you were a suburban kid, city kid, rural kid, kid on Mars – this tape somehow found its way into your home. I once went to a friend’s house. They were extremely religious, non-violent, went to a private religious school and wouldn’t wear shorts and didn’t have cable – but somehow this tape was sitting propped next to the VHS player on top of their TV.

Hogan was one of the biggest stars in the country at the time. In the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon movie Air, there’s a cascading montage of 80s memories flowing through the opening credits, and right there is Hulk Hogan with his big leg drop. Along with Reagan, Michael Jackson, Van Halen, MTV, the Cold War – you name it.

The tape featured early Hogan WWF title defenses, including the big ones from his feud with Big John Studd, a match with Dr. Death David Schultz, another with Greg Valentine and his world title win against the Iron Sheik. But what got me and my friend’s attention was this milk shake, python power drink mix he’s trying to shell with Lord Alfred Hayes in a comedy promo.

Yes, we tried making our own Python Powder. We dropped in some raw egg like Rocky Balboa, went into the cabinet for anything like powder (thank God my friends mom and dad weren’t that 80s, that could have been interesting. I’m not going mentioning my neighbor two doors down who was busted for selling that white powder). And figured out the blender without losing any digits. This also occurred with my cousin, but that’s a different story.

Half of it was on the kitchen tile, half was chugged and then brutally hurled into a toilet. The dog growled at us when we tried feeding her some of it.

I had seen a couple matches, but the Hulkamania tape and my near-death experience with this home made concoction was the most wrestling I had experienced at this very, very, very early date in my life.

My best friend went the ultimate route – he bought the Starrcade 85 DVD, which was advertised heavily on Crockett programming. By the time he got it, it was months after the PPV. Half the matches were cut short, but it was still a hell of a card.

We piled on his floor for about three and a half hours of wrestling. Flair vs. Dusty was the main event, but the real show was Magnum TA vs. Tully Blanchard in the famous I Quit cage match. WWE blu-rays featured this match on its cover decades later, maybe the only non-WWE match to get that kind of billing.

If there was a match that made you question the kayfabe accusations, this was it. I never believed wrestling was a legit sport, and that’s one reason why I was able to take it for what it was. Magnum and Blanchard made me think they hated each other – which they did. We nearly burned through that tape looking for clues, to Baby Doll throwing that wooden chair into the ring to Magnum putting wooden spike from the splinters into Blanchard’s forehead.

It’s still the best cage match I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if a major promotion has ever done another. Mid-South and some other promotions did a few barb-wire cage matches, (Hello, Sheepherders). But the judge is always Magnum vs. Tully.

My fandom ebbed and flowed through the years -usually ebbing. But for some reason, a few times a year, we would grab every UFC or WWF/WWE tape or DVD we could find at the rental store. That made for a binge weekend and some of the best times we had in the house.

Maybe we were slowed in, or the Ohio heat had slowed down summer to a long burn, we started plowing through tapes and DVDs at a record pace, especially on weekends. There was non better than the Royal Rumbles.

The Royal Rumble is the best time capsule of WWF you can find. if you want the state of the company, go through the rumbles year to year and you’ll see it.

The event peaked in 1992, early on, when the winner won the WWF title. Flair started second or third (I can’t remember which), and the heels got the crap beat out of them. Flair took bumps for the entire match from every top babyface, and some in the middle. This was every WWF match at the big shows, where the bad guys only got control through some kind of illegal activity.

We knew Flair would come out early – he was the master of long match. Minutes to him were like seconds. And he could make everyone look amazing. This match was the accomplishment of his WWF career, and he left no doubt who the best wrestler around was by the end.

Toward the mid 90s the rumbles had an every thinning roster. By the Attitude Era, that continued. A lot of former wrestlers and surprises would come in. Booking around Steve Austin and The Rock was always a feature, but it was easy to see the WWF had a lot on top during this period and was thin in the middle and at the bottom.

The first Coliseum Video was the first WrestleMania. Tons of matches, tons of stars, the show had a lot of splash. It was fun, but next to Starrcade 85 it might as well been on a different planet.

There were so many gems on these tapes and DVDs. The Orient Express (Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond) vs. the Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels), resuming their feuds from their AWA days.

The biggest was Bret Hart and Curt Hennig. Mr. Perfect was a long-reigning WWF Intercontinental champ. Hart was the babyface of the moment, the up-and-comer. The excitement around him from the crowd was amazing. The match they put on at Summer Slam 91 was the best WWF match I’d ever seen. WWF would go to is New Generation youth movement officially within a couple years, but this was the beginning.

Keep the physical stuff

The debate about physical media isn’t a debate at all.

I went to a GameStop recently. Staff implored customers to buy consoles that used actual DVD games. Don’t rely on digital. Playstation’s network recently dumped 1,500 games, someone said. He had lost a few dozen and was out several hundred bucks.

Why? Because those online purchases are licenses for a limited time, for as long as Playstation can use those games. Meaning once they’re up on the network, they’re also up on your device. No in-store credit – nothing.

Similar concerns have been stated by Christopher Nolan and Guillermo del Toro. Two major directors, Nolan’s Oppenheimer opus was a major draw for film at the theater – it couldn’t be experienced the same way.

Nolan believes physical media guarantees fans can keep hold of their purchases. Giving that up means giving up everything in the longterm.

I’m not surprised WWE is gutting its physical media. TKO wants that stock price over $100 and they’ll do everything they can to get it there. Most get the WWE network through Peacock, but people still buy DVDs – I do. Sure, it’s easier to bring up the iTunes or Google store, but the act of downloading is a cheap imitation of contraction. It’s an ugly practice that does worse than commodifying art, it renders it non-existent, except a cloud – which the gatekeepers always control.

The movie studios, sports, TV, media, news – it’s a race to split themselves from the physical sale of products (which is where money is made) to the sale of nothing – air – which has had major declining returns or everyone who has taken the dive.

Music and words were turned into nothing first for the reason it was easier to download over a phone or broadband line. Then came photos, TV and film, which is confusing since the open waters that led to music and words being unprotected have been all but sewn up by modern corporate America. They’re in a race to see who can go out of business first.

Wrestling is among that art. If you want a real representation of wrestling in the territories, or the WWF at different eras, it can’t be had on the streaming servi
ce. A big chunk is there, but a lot of what made the product what it was – some good, some bad, and a lot of it terrible – is gone or censored.

We don’t know what the future holds, but I know when the power goes out, I can grab a book. If the wifi goes out, I can grab a DVD or an album. If the internet goes out for good, we’ll be without our most valuable possession – our culture.

Why CM Punk & Seth Rollins’ 11/12 WWE RAW Segment Had No Producer Listed

0

WWE RAW included a couple notable moments for CM Punk. Not only did he sign with the RAW brand, but he also declared his entry in the 2024 Royal Rumble match.

Sean Ross Sapp noted in a portions update on Fightful Select that CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ segment on WWE RAW was a bit special. They did not have any producer listed on the rundown sheet.

CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ promo did not have a producer listed.

Exclusive Insights on WWE Segments With No Producer

WWE segments will usually have a producer listed, whether it is a match or a promo. On rare occasions, promos are not listed with a producer’s name, because they are not needed.

I was told by sources within WWE that producers will sit on a headset backstage and call the segment, making sure that they accomplish their goal. When a promo is listed with no producer, that only means that there is no physicality needed for the segment.

Whether the physicality is moving from one point to another to hit a mark, or actually taking a bump, they need a producer for those segments. WWE doesn’t assign a producer for segments where there are no specific physical points to hit.

They actually did a lot in that contract signing segment on the December 11th episode of WWE RAW, one that included CM Punk’s showdown with Seth Rollins. It is a surprise that they didn’t have a producer listed, but they also had a seasoned producer, in Adam Pearce, in the thick of that segment.

WWE Superstars aren’t going out on live television without a net or lines prepared if they don’t have a producer listed for a segment. It only means that there were no specific things that they needed to do other than talk.

What’s next for CM Punk and Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins and CM Punk are likely to throw down in the future. It looks like CM Punk is determined to win the 2024 Royal Rumble match to get that spot if he has to. It will be interesting to see how CM Punk’s return changes WWE’s plan for WrestleMania.

Keep checking back with SE Scoops as we continue monitoring the upcoming road to WrestleMania. A lot of big things are likely to happen as they set the stage for the 40th showcase of the immortals.

Sami Zayn’s Injury May Be A Legit Situation

0

Sami Zayn has given his all to advance his career in pro wrestling. Now, he is out of action for a while, but he requested that time off. That being said, his injury may be legit.

WWE will be missing Sami Zayn due to an injury sustained in a brutal attack by Drew McIntyre. The incident occurred during the December 4th episode of WWE RAW, leading to an injury for Sami Zayn, one that many believed was kayfabe.

This information was disclosed on commentary during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW, revealing that Sami Zayn is dealing with a “partially torn meniscus.”

What’s going on with Sami Zayn?

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Sami Zayn’s partially torn meniscus injury may be legit. He also noted once again that Zayn requested this time off.

A partially torn meniscus isn’t a terribly bad injury. Healing could take between four and eight weeks. However, the time depends on the severity and position of the tear. Of course, a WWE Superstar like Sami Zayn may need to take a bit more time.

We will have to see if Sami Zayn can make a return by January 27th’s Royal Rumble event. At this point, anything seems to be on the table. He certainly has some payback coming for Drew McIntyre.

We will have coverage of WWE, and Sami Zayn’s eventual return, right here at SE Scoops. Keep checking back for more updates as they are made known.

Brock Lesnar’s Daughter, Mya Lesnar, Could Be In Line For Olympic Glory

0

Brock Lesnar has won several accolades throughout his career. He took over WWE, NJPW and the UFC. That being said, he never reached the Olympics. His daughter, Mya Lesnar, may just be able to bring home a gold medal for her family.

Who is Brock Lesnar’s Daughter, Mya Lesnar?

Mya Lesnar is following her father Brock Lesnar’s athletic path. She decided pursued a career in shot put as part of the Colorado State team.

During a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show, the former SmackDown announcer provided an interesting bit of information about Mya Lesnar. He said that sources have said that she is in line to represent the USA in the Olympics.

“Sources have told me that Mya Lesnar is now 224 lbs of all muscle, ready to throw a rock for the United States of America when her time comes, and beat the hell out of everybody else.”

What’s next for Brock Lesnar’s Daughter, Mya Lesnar?

Mya Lesnar is very active on social media, as she shows off her physical accomplishments. She recently dropped a very impressive video where she showed off a new school record in shot put.

A new PR and a new school record!! Happy with a strong start to my season

Additionally, Mya Lesnar secured a commendable third place in the shot put at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships.

While her father, Brock Lesnar, has been absent from WWE television since his loss to Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam, there is anticipation of his return next month as the build-up to the Royal Rumble begins. The 2024 Royal Rumble event could include some big surprises, and WWE may also have a dream match in Lesnar’s future.

Jake Paul: Logan Has Mastered the ‘New Way’ of the Entertainment Industry

0

Jake Paul believes that he and his brother Logan have been able to ‘master’ the newest form of entertainment that sees plenty of crossovers.

Logan Paul signed with WWE in 2022 and has impressed fans with his skills in the ring. In addition to competing for WWE, Paul has also competed in boxing, and has his own brand of energy drinks ‘PRIME Energy.’ In addition to all of this, Paul continues to vlog and has millions of followers across his social media accounts.

“That’s the new way of the entertainment industry. It’s doing it all, you have to do it all. You have to be in all the places and all the businesses, marketing yourself, staying busy, creating companies and that’s I think what me and my brother have proven and shown. It’s being multifaceted and being different. People want to see something they’ve never seen before and I think we’ve mastered that.”

Jake Paul in WWE?

Logan Paul may be WWE’s reigning U.S. Champion, but his brother isn’t against challenging the Maverick. During the interview, Jake was asked about possibly facing his brother in the ring and said:

“Yeah, I’m down. Let’s run it, Logan. Let’s run it.”

Jake hasn’t competed for WWE yet but appeared in support of his brother at WWE Crown Jewel 2022. Logan Paul’s first defense as U.S. Champion will see him face the winner of an ongoing tournament on SmackDown.

Is Logan Paul the greatest WWE United States Champion that we’ve seen in years? Yes according to one Superstar. Click here to find out more.

WWE Has New Milestone In Their Sights With 2024 Royal Rumble Event

0

WWE is experiencing a booming period in their company’s history right now. It’s no new occurrence to see that they have broken another record after a big event. They are also setting a very high bar for the 2024 Royal Rumble event in Tropicana Field on January 27th.

In preparation for their next Premium Live Event, WWE is launching a concentrated effort to ignite interest. Fans are anticipating one of the company’s Big Four Premium Live Events, especially after CM Punk announced that he will be in the big over-the-top-rope match.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the Royal Rumble’s ticket sales, noting their impressive performance and projecting a gate of close to $8 million. He added that the company aims to establish a record for the largest paid attendance or the second-largest for the Royal Rumble.

”Royal Rumble is doing great in ticket sales, I don’t know the number but they are projecting a gate of close to $8 million. I think they’re looking for the largest paid attendance or second largest, you know the Alamodome one year ago. They’re looking at 50,000 people for this one. It’s gonna have to be 50,000 sold now, but that’s what they’re hoping for, especially with the announcement of Punk in the match.”

WWE established the largest attendance record for the Royal Rumble last year at the Alamodome, with 51,338 people present. With all of the hype they’re putting toward this show, it stands to reason that they will break a new record in 2024.

The WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event is scheduled for January 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The event is generating significant anticipation, with big ticket sales already recorded more than a month before the show.

We will have to see how many fans WWE can pack into Tropicana Field. The company knows that venue well, as it played host to a ThunderDome setup during the pandemic. Of course, those events had zero live fans in attendance, meaning that this stop by Tropicana Field will mean so much more.

We will have complete coverage of the Royal Rumble, and everything leading up to the big event over the next month, here at SE Scoops

WWE May Be Working Toward Gunther vs Brock Lesnar Dream Match

0

WWE carefully crafts their storylines, often over several months, especially when titles are a part of the situation. That being said, they appear to have dropped a major storyline for some reason, but the company may have a very good reason for doing so.

Chad Gable and Gunther have faced off a few times this year, with Gable handing Gunther his first loss on the main roster via count-out back in August. They followed up with that a couple of times, and Gable made a big promise to beat The Ring General for his child, but now GUNTHER has moved on to The Miz once again.

WWE hasn’t revisited the Gable and Gunther feud. Now, GUNTHER has promised an Intercontinental Title match to The Miz, and if The A-Lister loses, he can’t challenge for GUNTHER’s belt again. The company may have much bigger things in mind for GUNTHER.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Chad Gable and Gunther’s feud, stating that the company has dropped the angle entirely. Meltzer then suggested that Gunther might eventually lose the Intercontinental Title to someone like Julius Creed. That being said, there is a feeling that a Brock Lesnar dream match may be in the pipeline.

You know Chad Gable did that big promo, guy was going to win it for his daughter. They completely dropped that, they’re not even in that direction anymore. I don’t think it’s him because there’s no follow up.

They won’t do it, but a guy who could actually, because of the tag team thing because they keep tag team separate. I like Julius Creed beating Gunther in a fluke situation and then Gunther going up and challenging Rollins.

What could happen next year is Gunther vs Brock Lesnar. Because he’s now over enough, to me that’s a WrestleMania match. I suppose he could just be champion till then and Lesnar wins the Intercontinental. But, Lesnar doesn’t work enough to do that and I don’t see Lesnar losing to Gunther. But I could see Gunther being cheated out of the belt and not lose face.”

Gunther defended his title against Chad Gable again in September in a match that many enjoyed in a lot of ways. Although Gable came close, Gunther rallied, utilizing a lethal combination of moves to defeat Gable, shattering his dreams and even making Gable’s daughter cry. Now, we will have to see what’s next for Chad Gable, but it appears that he won’t be thanking WWE for an IC Title shot any time soon.

What’s next for GUNTHER in WWE

The Miz has a big task ahead of him as well, as he faces GUNTHER once again. We will have to see if the A-Lister has what it takes to win that match, because GUNTHER has proven to be a virtually unbeatable opponent.

Chad Gable is still leading the Alpha Academy, and they’re a fan-favorite team. Keep checking back with SE Scoops for more of their antics in WWE, and whatever Triple H has booked for everyone involved.

WWE’s Reason For Not Giving CM Punk Closing Segment Of 12/11 RAW

0

CM Punk has been back in WWE since Survivor Series last month, and it’s been quite a ride since then. He has maintained momentum with frequent appearances across all WWE shows in recent weeks. While a significant part of RAW this week, he did not close out the show, and the reasoning behind this decision makes sense when it is explained.

Monday Night RAW’s latest episode left a lasting impression for several reasons, notably due to CM Punk engaging in a fiery promo segment with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Then he inked an exclusive deal with WWE RAW, solidifying his place in WWE.

Dave Meltzer spoke about this during Wrestling Observer Radio, where he discussed why CM Punk didn’t conclude the show. The decision was ultimately made to ensure the maximum audience saw Punk’s promo segment, leading to its placement at 9 o’clock.

”It’s the main event and they wanted a long main event, and that’s the thing they put on last. They didn’t put Punk’s decision on last which is interesting because Punk’s decision was the #1 thing. I think that the idea was they knew that even if they put Punk’s decision on last, even though that would hold more viewers better than this match, less viewers would see it. So they put the Punk decision on at 9 o’clock when they think they would get the highest, it’s usually the high point of the show. So they everybody to see the Punk decision.”

CM Punk also had his time cut during the main event segment of RAW after Survivor Series. He went on to make a quip about his time getting shortened during his SmackDown appearance later on.

It will be interesting to see what is in the future for CM Punk, but he will be doing it on the red brand. Obviously, he also has Seth Rollins in his sights, but he may have to win the Royal Rumble to get a shot at The Visionary’s World Heavyweight Championship.

CM Punk will be a good fit on RAW, as he continues carving out a new place for him in WWE. For more updates, please keep checking in with SE Scoops.

Iron Claw Coordinator Chavo Guerrero Calls Film A “Service” to Legendary Von Erichs

0

Chavo Guerrero has praised the efforts of the upcoming The Iron Claw as a service to the legendary Von Erich family.

The Iron Claw delves into the lives and numerous tragedies of the Von Erich wrestling family. The wrestling lineage began with Fritz Von Erich (real name Jack Adkisson,) and his sons would also find success in the squared circle. The Von Erichs are still a force in wrestling today with Marshall & Ross Von Erich competing to this day.

Chavo Guerrero on The Iron Claw

Chavo Guerrero is, like so many, excited to see The Iron Claw in cinemas later this month. The ex-Superstar is tied to the film as the official wrestling coordinator and has worked with the cast to create an accurate and compelling performance. Appearing on the Insight podcast, Guerrero spoke about the film and how it effectively represents the Von Erichs.

“It’s doing one of the most influential families a service. It’s portraying their story and not making it a martyr film… They’re actually making this movie, a really true awesome movie. It’s not a wrestling movie. It’s about a family who happens to be wrestlers.”

Working with the Cast

Guerrero’s role as the film’s wrestling coordinator is the latest big project that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has been tied to. On the podcast, Guerrero spoke about the connections he was able to make with the cast of The Iron Claw

“I’ve created a bond. Wrestling creates a bond with people. Being on the road and traveling, being in the trenches with other wrestlers of course but also when I’m training actors, there’s this trust we have to build with each other.”

You squish in as much as you can, whatever they can absorb. Every actor is different. Zac [Efron] was able to absorb a lot so we kind of sped him through it but I threw a lot at him. When you’re creating a scene, there are a lot of things you have to take into consideration. We have to take in the script, what the director wants, how the DP [Director of Photography] wants to shoot it. But also what your actors can and can’t perform. So you have to work within the parameters.

“Once I can get them to give me trust and just know that I’m never going to put them in harm’s way. Safety is the number one port of order for me. Of course we’ve got to get the shot I have an actor to protect. So the number one thing is safety and I won’t let them do anything that I’m sure they can’t repeat a hundred times. It’s one of those things. You know there are fluke accidents and freak accidents that happen.”

Guerrero added that in a way, the actors of the film already know some of the fundamentals of wrestling, even if they don’t know that they know.

“I explain to my actors, the same thing with my GLOW girls, everybody on that awesome Netflix show. I explain to them, ‘Y’all know how to wrestle. You just don’t know you know yet.’ They’re like ‘What do you mean?’ So I portray it to acting a lot. What do you do in acting? You’re convincing the studios that you’re better looking than you are, you’re a better actor than you are, you’re taller than you are. You’re much more handsome or much more beautiful than you are actually are.

“That’s what I’ve been doing in wrestling for the last 25 years. People, every time they see me they go ‘Gosh you’re a lot bigger.’ Yeah, because I portray myself a lot bigger.”

MJF has a role in The Iron Claw but his role was originally much bigger than what made the final cut. Click here to find out more.

Braun Strowman Hungry for A Rematch with “Arch Nemesis” Roman Reigns

0

WWE SmackDown Superstar Braun Strowman is ready to step back in the ring with Roman Reigns, deeming the Tribal Chief his arch-nemesis.

The Monster Among Men returned to WWE last September after being released in late 2021. Strowman has spent much of his time on the shelf though and is currently recovering from neck fusion surgery. Speaking to Wrestle Binge, Strowman was asked about who’s next for him once he is back and made it clear he wants another shot against the Head of the Table.

“I’m never finished with Roman Reigns. He is my arch nemesis and my greatest rivalry of my career, and hopefully one of these days I’ll get back in there and get these hands on The Tribal Chief.”

Braun Strowman Vs. Roman Reigns

Strowman and Reigns have shared the ring a total of 21 times (not including performances in Royal Rumble matches.) The pair first collided at WWE Night of Champions 2015 and saw Strowman, Bray Wyatt, and Luke Harper defeat Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Chris Jericho.

Strowman and Reigns would feud in 2017 and would collide over the Universal Championship in late 2018. Years later, Strowman would take the pinfall loss at Payback 2020, which saw the start of Reigns’ historic tenure as WWE Universal Champion. Strowman and Reigns last competed on the October 16, 2020, episode of SmackDown, which saw the Tribal Chief get the win.

Braun Strowman won’t rule out a return to WWE programming for a massive upcoming event. Click here to find out more.

MJF Meets John Cena & Other WWE Names at The Iron Claw Premiere

0

The stars were out for the premiere of The Iron Claw, with AEW World Champion MJF being joined by names from WWE.

WWE & AEW Collide on the Red Carpet

MJF plays Lance Von Erich in the new film, a kayfabe relation of the family who doesn’t mesh well with the actual Von Erich wrestlers. MJF also serves as an executive producer for the film so it was hardly a surprise to see him walk the red carpet for the premiere. What may have surprised fans though is that MJF was joined by some of WWE’s top names, including 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena.

Cena wasn’t the only notable name to meet up with MJF at the premiere. The reigning AEW World Champion could also be seen with NXT Superstar Baron Corbin.

Liv Morgan was also at last night’s premiere of The Iron Claw. Morgan is currently out of action with an injury and attended a party with MJF last October

MJF in the Iron Claw

John Cena may have made ‘You Can’t See Me’ his catcphrase, but wrestling fans may struggle to see MJF in The Iron Claw. The reigning AEW World Champion appears for a few seconds in one scene and has no lines in the film. MJF originally had a much bigger role in the film before edits were made

WWE RAW Set To Include Two Title Matches For December 18th Episode

0

WWE booked a big show this week in Cleveland. CM Punk declared that RAW is now his brand home. Also, CM Punk followed that up with a big Royal Rumble announcement. Punk hasn’t been confirmed for RAW next week, but they did book two big title matches.

Next week, WWE RAW will be in Des Moines, Iowa. That is, of course, Seth Rollins’ home city, so odds are he will receive a hero’s welcome. The company also has two big tag team matches booked for the show.

They announced during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW that the December 18th episode will see two tag team title matches. The Undisputed and Women’s Tag Team Titles will both be on the line.

The Creed Brothers earned a #1 contender spot a few weeks ago. They will finally get that next week. It will be interesting to see how Julius and Brutus Creed do next week.

Also, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance will get their shot at Chelsea Green and Piper Niven’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. That should be quite a match, as Green and Niven have been able to sit at ringside to watch Chance and Cater for the past few weeks.

You can check out the card for the December 18th episode of WWE RAW below.

Drew McIntyre Awarded WWE World Heavyweight Title Shot Against Seth Rollins

0

WWE RAW will air a live episode of their show on January 1st, 2024. Now, fans have an even bigger reason to get excited about starting 2024 with the red brand.

Drew McIntyre has been on a tear since turning heel. He explained his reasoning for that decision, as he fought to earn what he thought was his in the first place. He wants a top title, and now he will get that shot.

https://twitter.com/DaColdOneIVS/status/1734381462319706419

Drew McIntyre will take on Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. This match will go down during their January 1st episode of RAW in San Diego, California. That is also a match that McIntyre has worked hard to get.

CM Punk was there as Adam Pearce broke the news backstage. Drew McIntyre, however, was not in any mood to talk. There were some old friends around, like Kofi Kingston, who showed up to say hello to CM Punk.

What’s next for Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is up just after WrestleMania 40. He hasn’t inked a new deal, but there is also plenty of time to work something out. The most recent report said that he is considering taking some time off with his family.

Drew McIntyre has been trying to earn his slot against Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It appears that he will only have to wait a few more weeks to get that opportunity.

We will have to see who rings in the new year for WWE as World Heavyweight Champion. For more updates, please keep it tuned with us here at SE Scoops.

CM Punk Makes Big Royal Rumble Announcement During 12/11 WWE Raw

0

The 2014 Royal Rumble was the last WWE match that CM Punk has wrestled in. He was taken out early by Kane, and then he walked out of the company. Things have changed, but the Royal Rumble is still an incredible test for any Superstar.

CM Punk showed up on WWE RAW this week in Cleveland, and he had a big decision to make. He also made a huge announcement in the process directed at Seth Rollins.

CM Punk expressed that walking out of WWE was one of the toughest choices he had ever made. He declared that his future was beginning in Cleveland, aiming to rectify past mistakes.

CM Punk informed Adam Pearce that he is now the newest RAW Superstar, stating, “CM Punk is home.” Following this announcement, Seth Rollins entered the scene to engage in a promo confrontation with Punk.

After Seth Rollins cut a promo in CM Punk’s face, the Second City Savior took a moment to let those words settle. Then, Punk said that Rollins gets one free pass to disrespect him.

CM Punk then told Seth Rollins that he is entering the Royal Rumble, and when he wins, he just may come after Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Title.

We will keep our eye on this story here at SE Scoops. So far, the 2024 Royal Rumble has Cody Rhodes and CM Punk in the match, both entrants could have WrestleMania main events ahead of them.

CM Punk Declares WWE Raw His New Home Brand

0

CM Punk has appeared for every WWE brand since his shocking return at November 25th’s Survivor Series event. The time finally came for him to claim a brand home, and that’s exactly what happened during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW.

CM Punk has been busy in recent memory. He showed up at NXT Deadline, and then he was in Cleveland for RAW. The Second City Savior was all ready to deliver some big news about his brand home as RAW entered its second hour.

Adam Pearce said, “the time for a sales pitch is over.” CM Punk was there to make a big decision, and he did just that.

CM Punk said that he’s been thinking about his decision all week, and it has consumed him. Then he said that Cleveland hasn’t been historically kind to him, because there are some ghosts in that building for Punk. Then he told a story about debuting in that same building years ago.

Punk Signs With Raw

CM Punk said that taking himself “off the hamster wheel” was one of the hardest decisions he ever had to make. He showed up to Cleveland to right some wrongs as he said, “my future starts now.”

That is when CM Punk told Adam Pearce that he is the newest RAW Superstar. Now “CM Punk is home.” Right after that, Seth Rollins came out to get in Punk’s face for a promo.

What’s next for CM Punk on WWE RAW

Seth Rollins threw some big shots at CM Punk, as he reacted to fans chanting Punk’s name at a WWE live event. It appears that Punk and Rollins are destined to collide.

CM Punk is still a free agent internally, but this will keep him on the RAW brand for the time being. I was told that Punk is “assigned” to the RAW brand, despite his free agent status. It appears that he is kicking things off on the red team with a lot of momentum.

Sami Zayn’s Injury Status Confirmed During 12/11 RAW

0

WWE is going to have to go without Sami Zayn for the time being. The former NXT Champion is out of action after a brutal attack from Drew McIntyre. Now we know what his injury is.

Sami Zayn took a beat down from Drew McIntyre during the December 4th episode of WWE RAW. That resulted in an injury in storyline, and they broke that news during RAW this week.

They revealed on commentary during the December 11th episode of WWE RAW that Sami Zayn suffered a “partially torn meniscus.

What’s next for Sami Zayn?

As we previously reported, Sami Zayn requested time off from WWE. It isn’t known exactly how long he will be out of action, but they are selling this as a legit injury on RAW.

Sami Zayn will likely be back in due time, and with a fresh outlook after a bit of rest. His injury is not legit as far as we can tell, but he certainly deserves the time off.

We will continue covering this story, right here at SE Scoops. Sami Zayn may be back in time for the Royal Rumble on January 27th, which would be a nice break for the Underdog from the Underground.

Seth Rollins’ WWE Contract Expires In A Matter Of Months

0

WWE is closing out 2023 with a huge boost in business. Live events are selling well, and CM Punk’s return also provided a huge boost in interest, more than they already had. That being said, 2024 is set to be a very interesting year in terms of contracts, and now we know another Superstar whose deal is set to expire next year.

Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select during the Backstage report that Seth Rollins’ WWE deal is currently slated to be up in June, as is Becky Lynch’s. Their contracts are added to a growing list of WWE Superstars whose deals are expiring next year.

There have been rumors about Seth Rollins’ WWE contract situation, but nothing has been confirmed until now. As of this writing, there is no report about inking a new deal. One would expect that WWE will want to do everything they can to keep Seth Rollins and his wife, Becky Lynch, on the roster.

The outlet noted that they reached out to confirm this news with WWE, and the company would not deny the information. It appears that WWE has two big contracts ending in June, but Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are only two big deals expiring next year.

WWE has a few big contracts expiring in 2024, including Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins’ deals also running up adds even higher stakes. The company is seeing several top stars’ deals tick down because they signed so many to extensions prior to the pandemic.

WWE also just released a lot of talent, including over 100 employees from their corporate offices. Those Superstars that WWE cut in September are set to break the free agent market wide open in a matter of days.

For more on this story, keep checking out SE Scoops. WWE has a lot of things that they need to accomplish in 2024, including keeping the stars that they want under contracts.

WWE & MLW End Antitrust Lawsuit With Undisclosed Settlement

0

WWE has a lot of legal situations right now, but their long-running legal situation with MLW is now over. This antitrust lawsuit was a huge deal for a time, and now a settlement has been reached.

In January 2022, MLW initiated a lawsuit against WWE, alleging anticompetitive practices and interference in MLW’s business operations. The claim asserted that WWE, under Vince McMahon’s leadership, used its influence to obstruct MLW from securing a television deal with a major network, thus hindering their growth and violating antitrust laws. Recently, it has been revealed that MLW and WWE have reached a settlement, marking the conclusion of their legal dispute.

WWE presented an extensive list of potential defenses against MLW, and according to Brandon Thurston of WrestleNomics, the latest court documents indicate that the two parties are in the process of finalizing a settlement in the suit.

“The Parties are in the process of completing the final settlement documents and expect to file the appropriate dismissal papers within the next thirty (30) days.”

The lawsuit also contended that Triple H contacted Madison Square Garden, urging them to cancel an event hosted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor. This was a thorn in their side for a while, but the terms of the settlement have not been revealed at this time.

WWE attempted to have the lawsuit dismissed by arguing that MLW’s claim lacked validity. However, the court ruled against WWE’s motion, permitting MLW’s lawsuit to proceed. In their pursuit of justice, MLW requested 22 years of data from WWE as part of the legal proceedings.

Many believe that WWE changed up a number of competitive tactics due to this lawsuit. This could also be the reason why WWE is no longer restricting AEW venues. We will keep our eye on this story for more updates at SE Scoops.

WWE has experienced a number of legal hurdles over the years. As they are now owned by TKO Group Holdings, only time will tell how that will dictate the future for the company.
