The Briscoes vs. FTR Official For Supercard of Honor

0

Tony Khan has announced an ROH World Tag Team Title match between champions The Briscoes and FTR.

Supercard of Honor is set to take place on April 1. This will be the first ROH card with Khan at the helm.

“2 weeks from tonight, @ringofhonor Supercard of Honor. ROH World Tag Team Champions BRISCOES @jaybriscoe84, @SussexCoChicken vs. @LuchaLibreAAA Tag Team Champions FTR @DaxFTR, @CashWheelerFTR. Friday April 1, 2022, Dallas Metroplex. Tickets @ http://rohtix.com, on @FiteTV PPV.”

SEScoops exclusively reported that it was unknown whether or not The Briscoes would be able to make the show due to working for Impact Wrestling that same night. As it turns out, Jay and Mark will be making their way to the PPV.

Reports have surfaced claiming that WarnerMedia doesn’t want The Briscoes to be brought onto AEW TV. If that report holds true and if ROH programming is seen through a WarnerMedia platform, it’ll be interesting to see if The Briscoes will have any place under the Tony Khan umbrella long term.

Britt Baker Reacts to AEW Title Loss: “This Will Always Be My Division”

0

Britt Baker may have lost the AEW Women’s World Championship but she still believes she’s the gold standard of the division.

On the March 16 episode of Dynamite, Baker put the title on the line against Thunder Rosa in a steel cage match. The title match took place in San Antonio, Texas. Rosa was the overwhelming fan favorite due to her Mexican roots.

Ultimately, Thunder Rosa won the match and she has now entered her first run with the AEW Women’s World Title.

Britt Baker Speaks Out On Title Loss

While Britt Baker has seen her title reign come to a close, she’s still as cocky as ever. Here’s what she had to say on social media.

“While others relax & recover on their day off, I’m just now leaving the dental office for the day-bruised and cut up, on 2 hours of sleep after traveling halfway across the country. I might have lost, but I gave you all the best damn women’s championship reign that none of you undeserving idiots will appreciate until I’m champion again. This will always be my division. To all those I paved the way for, you’re welcome.”

Baker held the championship for 290 days. That is the second-longest reign in the title’s history only behind Hikaru Shida, who had a 372-day reign.

Shawn Michaels Looks Back On His “Incredible Bond” With Scott Hall

0

Shawn Michaels has taken the time to reflect on his friendship with the late Scott Hall.

Hall, also known as Razor Ramon in his WWF days, developed a bond with the likes of “HBK,” Kevin Nash, Triple H, and Sean Waltman. Together, they became known as “The Kliq.”

Scott Hall passed away on March 14, 2022. Hall suffered from complications after undergoing hip replacement surgery. It’s been reported that a blood clot got loose and Hall suffered three heart attacks. He had been on life support but Hall’s family made the decision to take him off.

Shawn Michaels & Scott Hall: Friends 4 Life

Shawn Michaels spoke to Sports Illustrated and detailed his close relationship with “The Bad Guy.”

“We had this incredible bond,” Michaels says. “We’d bare our souls to each other. And we didn’t care what anyone else thought. The five of us, we knew we had each other.

“I was 19-just-turning-20 when I met Scott,” Michaels says. “And the first time we met was when we were in the ring together.”

Michaels went on to say that Hall couldn’t get enough of the way he sold for him.

“Scott got such a kick out of me selling for him. He’d been working with Bulldog Bob Brown and Rufus R. Jones, and I mean no disrespect to those men, but Scott hadn’t worked with many smaller, underneath, selling babyfaces. He just thought that was the neatest thing in the world. That’s when we realized, holy cow, this stuff can be really easy if I just get beat up, and then I finally beat him up when I get the chance later on.”

“HBK” and Hall had great chemistry inside the ring. Their ladder match at WrestleMania X back in 1994 is one that few can forget. Of course, it made Ryan Droste’s list of “7 Must-See Matches From Scott Hall’s Career.”

Happy Corbin Describes “Funny” Relationship With Vince McMahon

0

Happy Corbin has become quite chummy with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Corbin can be seen on the SmackDown brand every Friday night. He’s currently involved in a feud with former two-time WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. The two will share the squared circle on night one of WrestleMania 38 on April 2.

Happy Corbin-Vince McMahon Dynamic

During an appearance on the Johnny Dare Morning Show, Happy Corbin detailed his relationship with Vince McMahon and how things between the two can be both funny and frustrating.

“Vince, he’s amazing. We have a crazy relationship because he’s a big kid at times who is also the most powerful CEO you’ve ever met in your life. He’s got that business swagger, the way he walks around, but if you’re not looking he’ll smack you in the back of their head if you have that relationship with him. He’s hit me a couple of times.

“You know when someone does something and you instantly just get angry and want to punch them in the face, but you haven’t seen who or what it was yet? He’s done that to me a few times. If I’m not paying attention or if I have a shirt on or something, he walks up, and I hate being slapped or smacked, and he smacks me in the back or across the back of the neck and I turn around ready to kill, and I see it’s him and he’s just belly laughing and there’s literally nothing I can do. It’s funny but it’s also frustrating.”

While Corbin hasn’t won a world title in WWE, he’s been given prominent roles. At one point, he was an authority figure on Monday Night Raw. He’s also mixed it up with plenty of main eventers.

The Undertaker Once Turned Down WWE Hall of Fame

0

The Undertaker could’ve been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame sooner.

Back in February, WWE announced that “The Deadman” will finally make his way into the Hall of Fame. In Nov. 2020, The Undertaker’s retirement capped off a 30-year run in the company.

On April 1, “The Phenom” will take his rightful place in wrestling history but this wasn’t WWE’s first attempt to make it happen.

The Undertaker Declined First Induction Offer

Speaking to Dallas Morning News, The Undertaker revealed that he had a chance to enter the Hall of Fame after his WrestleMania 30 loss to Brock Lesnar (h/t Wrestling Inc).

“This is actually the second time that I was invited to the Hall Of Fame, so I wasn’t as shocked this time. I turned it down the first time because I knew I had unfinished business,” he said. “I wasn’t at that place yet where I was ready to let go and say that it’s over. So, this time I have made my peace, and I am just honored and humbled that they would induct me.

“It was, I want to say after the Brock WrestleMania, I think it was after that. In my head, I couldn’t end on a match that I didn’t remember,” ‘Taker claimed. “I got concussed and I don’t remember even having that match. So, I wanted to at least have a match that I could remember, so I kept working here and there for the next few years, trying to leave on that upbeat note. Fortunately, we had the Boneyard match and I said, ‘alright, that’s it I think I’m good, it’s time to call it a day.’ Now here we are.”

Undertaker made his WWE debut back in 1990. Over the course of his career, he has won multiple championships and has been a part of many classic matches. We’ve also seen his character transition from “The Deadman” to “The American Badass” to “Big Evil,” and back to “The Deadman.”

Kevin Nash Thanks Bret Hart For His Tribute To Scott Hall

0

Kevin Nash has expressed gratitude to Bret Hart for his tribute to Scott Hall.

Hall passed away on March 14, 2022 due to complications from hip replacement surgery. He was 63 years old. Hall will be remembered for his Razor Ramon character in WWE as well as helping start the New World Order in WCW.

The wrestling world has reacted to the news of Hall’s passing with warm messages. Bret “The Hitman” Hart had one of those messages on Instagram, expressing his sadness over the situation. He also said he wishes the road life wasn’t as rigorous because he feels it might’ve saved the lives of many of his peers.

“…We’ve lost so many wrestlers from my era, and this is just one more to a list that’s far too long. I won’t blame anyone thing, but I do believe that if the days of wrestling 300 days a year had been kinder and more considerate if we could’ve been home with our loved ones more, many of my old friends and brothers would still be here,” said Hart.

Kevin Nash Responds To Bret Hart

Kevin Nash responded to Bret Hart in the comment section of his post. “Big Daddy Cool” agrees with Bret’s opinion on the rough road life.

“We just had this conversation. I agree 100% the meat grinder hasn’t been kind to the crews that ran 300 plus days. The mental and physical pain of those years scar hard and deep but the men that I shared my life with were such a special breed and many life-long friends. Thank you for the kind words about Scott. I love you Bret honored to call you my friend.”

Nash and Hall were good friends and even formed “The Kliq.” Few can deny that the two changed the game in 1996 when they left WWE in favor of WCW.

WWE Acknowledges Success Of AEW In Motion Against MLW Lawsuit

0

AEW has seen exceptional growth for a company that is less than 3 years old. So much so that even WWE has been forced to acknowledge their success.

The Vince McMahon-owned promotion is currently facing a lawsuit from MLW, who have accused the company of trying to monopolize the wrestling market.

In response to the lawsuit, WWE filed a 35-page motion. Dave Meltzer noted how WWE brought up the October 15, 2021 episode of SmackDown to prove that they are not a dominant monopoly.

The episode saw the final 30 minutes of the blue branded show going head-to-head with Rampage. The AEW show beat SmackDown in the 18-49 male demo 0.34 to 0.32.

The response further mentioned how AEW managed to capture an average 0.344 rating in the 18-49 demo in 2020. This was in comparison to Raw’s 0.5075 rating in the same demo.

WWE’s response used AEW’s ‘successful entry and expansion’ to refute claims that substantial barriers to entry exists in the market.

MLW, who have accused WWE of interfering in their deal with Tubi and preventing it from happening, have not responded to this motion yet. We’ll keep you updated on further developments.

William Regal Reveals Injury Has Caused Him To Lose 40% Vision In Left Eye

0

William Regal has had one hardcore wrestling career. It’s reflected on the various injuries the wrestling veteran had to deal with and is still dealing with to this day.

The former NXT General Manager opened up about his various health issues on Talk Is Jericho. This included the one time when he was told he had only 24 hours left to live.

Regal also revealed another issue that he is still dealing with to this day. He recalled how he fell down an escalator during a tour to Costa Rica and shattered his eye socket:

“I was in hospital for a week in Costa Rica. And I shattered my eye socket, had three weeks of amnesia, and lost 40% vision in my left eye, which I still haven’t got. Everything is grey, I can see, but it’s all grey.

Head injury, finally they got me back home,” said William Regal, “and I was doing some pretty mental things, unfortunately, my wife had to go through.”

The wrestling legend mentioned how he was lucky that Ryan Katz found him and got help. He doesn’t remember the immediate aftermath of the injury because of amnesia.

Apart from this, Regal discussed his relationship with Bryan Danielson. He detailed his emotional last match with Danielson. You can check out his comments here.

Update on a WWE UK PPV Happening Later This Year

0

WWE fans in the United Kingdom have waited a long time for the region to host another pay-per-view (“premium live”) event. As it turns out, they might not have to wait much longer.

According to WrestleVotes, a WWE source says plans are underway to bring a major WWE show to Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales later this year.

The yet-to-be-named show would take place over Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 3rd. This is the same weekend that All Elite Wrestling typically holds the annual AEW All Out pay-per-view.

Principality Stadium is home to the Wales National Rugby Union team has a max capacity of approximately 78,000 people for boxing events.

A WWE UK PPV in September would mark the company’s 5th stadium show of the year following:

  • Royal Rumble (The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis)
  • Elimination Chamber (Jeddah Superdome, Saudi Arabia)
  • WrestleMania (AT&T Stadium, Dallas, TX)
  • Money in the Bank (Allegiant Stadium, Paradise, Nevada)

WWE has been talking about holding another PPV from the UK for many years. Here’s some of our previous coverage about this topic:

News On Joey Janela’s Backstage Heat In AEW

0

Joey Janela has not wrestled for AEW since January. His absence had made many fans wonder about his status with the promotion.

The AEW star himself mentioned in an interview that he might have heat backstage for an incident where he injured Eddie Kingston with a superkick.

Mike Johnson of PWinsider provided some update on it. He confirmed that Janela’s suspicion was right. The injury which delayed Kingston’s feud with Chris Jericho got him heat backstage:

“There was a lot of heat on him for the Kingston injury, as it prevented Kingston from traveling for several weeks and changed plans for TV and the Jericho feud as the promotion waited for Kingston to heal.

The report also noted that apart from Kingston, the internal belief among AEW officials is that several other talents have been hurt while working with Janela.

The Bad Boy has not been brought in since AEW’s TV taping in Charlotte, North Carolina. His current contract expires in late April and the hardcore star is not expected to be utilized again before that.

AEW has the policy of not releasing talents mid-contract and letting the deals expire instead. As of right now, a contract renewal for Joey Janela seems very unlikely.

Steve Austin “Getting Back Into In-Ring Shape” For WrestleMania

0

While Kevin Owens is getting ready to host a talk show at WrestleMania 38, his guest Stone Cold Steve Austin is getting ready for a fight.

The Texas Rattlesnake recently appeared on Rich Eisen Show. On the potential of having one last match, the wrestling veteran said ‘never say never.’

Steve Austin recalled how he didn’t want to leave when he was forced to retire. So this comeback means a lot to him and he is getting back into in ring shape for it:

“When I left, I didn’t want to leave. WrestleMania 19, my neck had presented some problems. After I got spiked and dropped on my head back in 99, I had three, four fused up, and it was time for me to ride off into the sunset and do something else.

This comeback means a lot to me as I’ve been getting back into in-ring shape.” said Steve Austin, “I’m gonna go out there and do the absolute best I can … I’m doing this for the fans. I’m doing this for WWE. I’m doing this for me, number one.”

The former world champion also mentioned how Mania is the biggest wrestling show of the year. He said that to be part of it is really special to him.

WrestleMania 38 will be a two-night event airing from the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The KO show featuring Steve Austin is scheduled for Saturday, April 2.

Paige VanZant On Her MMA Future After AEW Signing

0

Paige VanZant has been making AEW appearances since last year. She finally signed a contract with the promotion during the March 9 episode of Dynamite.

Though even with her transition to wrestling, the UFC star is not done with MMA. According to her, she is just signed to pro wrestling at the moment.

VanZant joined WFAN’s Carton & Roberts for an interview recently. She mentioned how people have the wrong idea that you have to stick to just one thing:

“I’m not done MMA fighting at all. I think people have this idea that you have to stick with one thing, but being a mixed martial artist, and being in this sport, you can evolve and can focus on one aspect at any given time.

Definitely not retired from MMA,” said Paige VanZant, “but at this current moment, I am signed to [professional boxing and professional wrestling].”

The AEW star also opened up about how she got into fighting. She mentioned how she went through some significant bullying as a kid.

VanZant explained that her father was a huge fan of MMA and UFC. When she asked if she could try MMA, he was very supportive of it.

Thunder Rosa Wins AEW Women’s Championship

0

Thunder Rosa earned another shot at the AEW Women’s World Title and cashed in on it as she beat Britt Baker for it on this week’s special edition of Dynamite, St. Patrick’s Day Slam.

They wrestled in a steel cage bout. The match headlined the show in what ended up being a crazy blood bath with various weapons being used. Baker hit an Air Raid crash to Rosa onto a stack of chairs.

Rosa took a bump on thumbtacks but she broke free and won the match after powerbombing Baker on the tacks and hitting the Fire Thunder Driver into the tacks.

On Thursday morning, Thunder Rosa commented on her championship victory. Needless to say, she’s speechless.

Thunder Rosa’s Road to the Championship

Last week on Dynamite, Rosa defeated Leyla Hirsch to become the next title challenger. Post-match, Baker appeared backstage and cut a promo about how she thought it was a conspiracy that Rosa was getting another title match so soon and she didn’t want “carny riff-raff” like Rosa becoming champion.

In recent weeks, the two stars began feuding once again as Baker hired Mercedes Martinez to take out Rosa.

Their first match took place at AEW Revolution earlier this month where the bout had frequent interference from Baker’s associates Jamie Hayter and Rebel. In the end, the finish saw Rosa take out Rebel with a spear to the floor laying out Hayter only for Britt to connect with a curb stomp to retain the title.

Rosa was the big favorite heading into their first match, but the finish of it was reportedly changed multiple times leading up to the event.

  2. Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley def. Best Friends
  3. Scorpio Sky def. Wardlow to retain the TNT Championship
  4. The Hardys def. Private Party
  5. Thunder Rosa def. Britt Baker in a Steel Cage match to capture the AEW Women’s Championship

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

Cole & ReDRagon Picked Up A Win

Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly faced AEW Champion Hangman Page and AEW Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) in a Trios match to begin the show. Cole and Jungle Boy started off the action and exchanged strikes in the middle of the ring. Jungle Boy got the better of Cole and leveled him with a Dropkick. Cole battled back and tagged in Bobby Fish.

ReDRagon (Fish & O’Reilly) took turns beating Jungle Boy down and kept him isolated in their corner of the ring. Jungle Boy eventually escaped and tagged in Luchasaurus for the big comeback. Luchasaurus unloaded some chops before Cole sent him into the ring post from behind. Hangman Page got the tag and connected with a Clothesline on Adam Cole. Page followed it up with a Fallaway Slam to Fish and then a Liger Bomb for a near fall. ReDRagon planted Jungle Boy with Demolition Decapitation and went for the cover but he was able to kick out as Dynamite went to a commercial break.

When Dynamite returned, Luchasaurus tagged in again and dominated. Luchasaurus connected with a Chokeslam and followed it up with a Moonsault on Fish & O’Reilly. Jungle Boy climbed to the top rope but Cole caught him with a Superkick to the face. Cole and Jungle Boy eventually were in the ring alone after the match devolved into a brawl with everyone hitting a signature move. Jungle Boy got Cole up in the Fireman’s Carry but Adam escaped and connected with the Boom for the pinfall victory.

After the match, FTW Champion Ricky Starks and Keith Lee were interviewed backstage. Starks boasted that Team Taz whooped Keith Lee’s ass last time he was on Rampage and the same thing will happen this Friday. Lee noted that he punched Starks out and he was laying on the mat “like a little bitch”. Lee ended the segment by telling Starks he will see him Friday for the FTW Championship match.

Moxley & Danielson def. Best Friends

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Wheeler YUTA) faced Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley tonight on Dynamite. William Regal joined commentary for the match. Danielson and Wheeler started off the action and Bryan hit some uppercuts. Moxley tagged in and planted Wheeler with a Suplex for a near fall. Chuck Taylor tagged in and sent Moxley to the floor outside the ring. Danielson and Moxley took back control and beat Taylor down as Dynamite went to a break.

When Dynamite returned, Wheeler connected with a German Suplex on Moxley but Jon powered out at two. Danielson tagged back in and unloaded the Yes Kicks on Wheeler’s chest. Yuta got fired up and wanted more and Danielson continued to boot the hell out of him. Danielson hit the Regal Plex for a close two count and tagged in Jon. Moxley applied the Guillotine Choke for the submission victory. After the match, William Regal offered to shake Wheeler Yuta’s hand. Regal then delivered a slap to Wheeler’s face before trading some words. The two nodded at each other and Wheeler exited.

Young Bucks Confronted FTR

Tony Schiavone caught up with FTR backstage tonight on Dynamite. Dax and Cash said that it wasn’t easy firing Tully Blanchard but it had to be done after they lost the tag titles. Young Bucks interrupted in ridiculous outfits and told FTR that there isn’t a manager that they could hire to make them anything but the 2nd best tag team in All Elite Wrestling.

Chris Jericho Is A Sports Entertainer

The Jericho Appreciation Society made their way to the ring to Judas from Fozzy. Matt Lee said that there would be no more sing-a-long if it were up to him but Jericho is a better man. Jeff Parker added that Jericho deserves to be idolized.

Jericho got a great reaction and tried to turn the fans against him by saying that they are lucky to be alive during his era in wrestling. Jericho claimed that people have lived through his promos and matches over the past few decades and added that there would be no AEW without him.

Chris claimed that the members of Inner Circle didn’t appreciate him and that they are all just pro wrestlers. Jericho added that the fans take him for granted and even AEW as a whole doesn’t appreciate him enough. Jericho stated that he is legendary millionaire because he is a sports entertainer, not a pro wrestler. Jericho told 2.0 that their name is dumb and to drop it. Chris took credit for Daniel Garcia recovering from his car accident because he donated money to him. Jericho said Hager is his right hand man and “the hand of the king”. Chris declared that this was his newest reinvention and the era of the sports entertainer begins now.

MJF Cost Wardlow His TNT Title Shot

Scorpio Sky defended the TNT Championship against Wardlow to kick off the 2nd hour of tonight’s episode of Dynamite. The action started off back and Sky sent Wardlow to the corner. Scorpio bit Wardlow on the head and that was a big mistake. Wardlow showed off his power with a Spinebuster and stared at Dan Lambert, Paige VanZant & Men of the Year. Paige VanZant kissed her boyfriend Austin Vanderford in front of Wardlow for a distraction. Vanderford got in Wardlow’s face and almost got a Powerbomb for his troubles. Scorpio leaped through the ropes and broke it up with a Dropkick to Wardlow as Dynamite went to a commercial.

Back from the break, Wardlow hit another Spinebuster and signaled for the Powerbomb Symphony. Wardlow hit a couple Powerbombs before Dan Lambert hopped on the ring apron for a distraction. Sky rolled out of the ring and Wardlow followed him out there. Shawn Spears showed up on the entrance ramp for a distraction and then MJF attacked Wardlow from behind. MJF shoved Wardlow head-first into the ring post and rolled him into the ring. Scorpio rolled him up to retain the TNT Championship.

After the match, Men of the Year, Vanderford, Spears, and MJF beat down Wardlow. Spears hit Wardlow over the head with a steel chair and then MJF put on the Dynamite Diamond ring. MJF clocked Wardlow in the face with it and then gave Dan Lambert a bundle of money for helping him ruin Wardlow’s TNT Championship opportunity.

The Hardys Won Their AEW In-Ring Debut

The Hardys battled Private Party tonight on Dynamite. Jeff and Matt dominated the match early and isolated Quen in the ring. Jeff hit Whisper in the Wind. Private Party battled back and took control as Dynamite went to a commercial break. When Dynamite returned, Matt hit Kassidy with a Side Effect and tagged in Jeff. Private Party hit a Stomp/Neckbreaker combo on Jeff for a near fall.

Jeff hit a Dropkick on Kassidy and went for the cover but Isiah kicked out at two. Matt hit another Side Effect and Jeff followed it up with a Frog Splash for a near fall. Matt went for Razor’s Edge but Kassidy dodged it. Jeff then hit the Swanton Bomb for the pinfall victory. The crowd gave Matt and Jeff a great reaction after the victory. After the match, AFO interrupted but Sting and Darby Allin made the save to end the segment.

Thunder Rosa Captured The AEW Women’s Championship

Britt Baker defended the AEW Women’s Championship against Thunder Rosa in the main event. Thunder Rosa had a band play her to the ring and got a tremendous reaction from her hometown crowd. Thunder Rosa dominated early and busted Britt open by bashing her face into the steel cage. The champ battled back and launched Thunder Rosa into the steel. Baker regrouped on the ring apron as the blood poured down her face.

When Dynamite returned, Baker was in control and brought several steel chairs into the ring. Thunder Rosa went for a Superkick but accidentally booted the referee. Baker unloaded some chair shots and perched Thunder Rosa up in the corner of the ring. Baker set up a bunch of chairs on the canvas below and joined Rosa on the turnbuckle. Britt connected with an Air Raid Crash on the chairs and a “holy sh*t!” chant broke out.

Referee Aubrey Edwards rushed the ring as Baker went for the cover but Rosa still was able to kick out at two. Baker set up a ton of chairs but it backfired. Thunder Rosa knocked her onto the tower of chairs and went for the cover but Baker kicked out at two. Baker battled back and poured thumbtacks on the mat. Britt hit a Back Body Drop on top of the tacks for a near fall.

Britt put on the glove and went for the Lockjaw but Thunder Rosa escaped after slamming Britt’s hand onto the tacks. Thunder Rosa hit Baker with a Powerbomb onto the tacks. Baker rolled out of the ring and the challenger chased her. Baker grabbed a steel chair and bashed Thunder Rosa in the midsection before returning to the ring. Thunder Rosa hit the Fire Thunder Driver for the pinfall victory. Thunder Rosa is the new AEW Women’s Champion. Thunder Rosa celebrated with Dustin Rhodes after the match.

Steve Austin: “Never Say Never” On Having One Last Match

0

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin isn’t ruling out one last match after all.

Austin is scheduled to make an appearance during night one (April 2) of WrestleMania 38. The two-night event will be held inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. While he won’t be having a match, Austin will be appearing on “The KO Show” to confront Kevin Owens.

Time will tell just how physical Austin will get as it could be a sign of the future.

Steve Austin On One Last Match

Appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, Steve Austin said that he no longer rules out possibly having one more match (h/t Wrestle Purists).

“In this business, never say never. I said I would never get in, but prompted by the right person at the right time, hell, I wish he (Kevin Owens) would have pissed me off a little sooner than he did to give me more time to prep.”

“Stone Cold’s” last match took place back in March 2003. He was pinned by The Rock at WrestleMania 19. Austin is 57 years old but we’ve seen Sting, who will turn 63 in a few days, have a successful run despite his age.

Austin has made several appearances in WWE after his retirement. At one point he was even the co-general manager of Monday Night Raw along with Eric Bischoff. “Stone Cold” headlined the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009.

Finn Balor Had a Good Reason for Missing the Royal Rumble

0

Finn Balor has cleared the air on his absence from the 2022 Royal Rumble.

Balor’s exclusion from the big event left many confused. Wrestle Votes reported that Balor wasn’t injured but he wasn’t in the United States during the Royal Rumble. The report also noted that he’d make his return well before WrestleMania.

Why Finn Balor Missed Royal Rumble

During an interview with BT Sport, Finn Balor explained that he had visa issues, which prevented him from attending Royal Rumble this year (h/t Fightful).

“I’m gonna give you an exclusive here because I haven’t spoken about this once. I didn’t want to take any time off, I didn’t want to miss any shows. I didn’t need any time off, I wasn’t injured. Legally, my visa needed to be renewed and I needed to go home to Ireland to go to the U.S Embassy to get a new visa.

“That’s why I wasn’t at the Royal Rumble and that’s why I wasn’t there for a month. And everyone is asking questions, Finn’s not there, Finn’s not here, and it was strictly because of legal paperwork that needed to be done. It had to be rectified. It had been pushed and pushed because we couldn’t travel and because of COVID, and then it was kinda like a window opening and I said ‘Look, we’re gonna have to do it so let’s just do it now.’

“The time off was taken reluctantly in January to take care of that paperwork but it’s now taken care of for the next ten years.”

As of this writing, Balor doesn’t have anything locked up for WrestleMania officially. With that said, he is the WWE United States Champion and has been feuding with Damian Priest. Perhaps a title rematch between the two will take place on “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

William Regal Recalls Being Given Just 24 Hours To Live

0

William Regal is as healthy as he’s ever been but there was a time when things were touch and go.

Regal is known for being one of the smartest minds in the wrestling industry. He played a crucial role backstage during his time on the NXT brand. He knew a thing or two about mixing it up inside the ring as well, often putting on technical masterclasses.

Today, Regal can be seen on AEW TV but in an alternate universe, he is no longer with us.

William Regal’s Dire Health Scare

Serving as a guest on Talk Is Jericho, William Regal reflected on the time doctors told him he would soon pass away (h/t Wrestling Headlines).

“Once I was released – I went home two weeks before Christmas. The reason being, which we might get to, the last time my family were all together was 2018 for Christmas, and I was in hospital for eight weeks. I was given at one point 24 hours to live, I had sepsis in my leg, they were gonna cut my leg off. This is January 4, 2019. So I insisted on going home for Christmas, because you know I’ve been through a lot. I had a hell of year 2018… sorry, it’s a bit, like, I usually just tell people, but now I’m sat with you and I’m comfortable, things hit you a little bit…”

Regal said eventually, doctors discovered that he had a sack around his heart that “completely calcified.” Regal expressed gratitude to WWE for getting him a doctor who could perform a pericardiectomy.

The former WWE and WCW star then began to experience fluid constantly leaking out of his legs. Regal was facing amputation before receiving an injection to save one of his legs.

Fortunately, Regal’s past health issues are behind him and he’s moving forward. He now manages the team of Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. He’ll also have a backstage role with AEW on top of his onscreen presence.

The Hardys will make their AEW in-ring debut as a team on tonight’s St. Patrick’s Slam edition of AEW Dynamite. They’ll battle Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen.

This will be Matt and Jeff’s first time teaming together on national television in three years. AEW President Tony Khan booked the match after Private Party’s shocking betrayal of Matt last week.

In a press release sent in to SEScoops, Khan was quoted saying:

“It was incredible to hear the huge pop from the crowd when the Hardys’ music hit, and to see Jeff Hardy reunited with Matt at AEW: Dynamite last week was an amazing moment for fans around the world.”

“Jeff Hardy transcends time and is associated with some of wrestling’s most iconic moments. Reuniting the Hardys and bringing their encyclopedia of experience to AEW will give fans another exciting chapter in Matt and Jeff’s storied legacy in wrestling. WWE Superstar Big E is on the road to recovery after breaking his neck last Friday night during a freak accident on WWE SmackDown.

The following day, Big E provided an update on his condition. Doctors told him his C1 and C6 vertebrae are fractured. Thankfully, he is able to move his extremities, his spinal cord did not sustain any damage, the neck fracture was not displaced and he probably will not require surgery.

His longtime friend and New Day partner Kofi Kingston was among several WWE Superstars who visited Big E in the hospital Friday night. Kingston said Big E was in good spirits.

Big E returned home earlier this week, another encouraging sign.

Latest Update from Big E

On Wednesday, Big E posted a message on social media updating fans once again. The former WWE Champion says he used to feel alone when dealing with life’s hardships.

He’s heard from so many people since his accident and says he feels “immeasurably loved” and supported from so many people reaching out to check on him.

Prior to his injury, Big E was scheduled to compete at WrestleMania 38. Sources say that WWE planned for The New Day to battle Sheamus, Ridge Holland and Butch in a 6-man tag match.

Judas Lyrics

You are beautiful on the inside
You are innocence personified
And I will drag you down and sell you out
Run away

I am cold like December snow
I have carved out this soul made of stone
And I will drag you down and sell you out
Embraced by the darkness, I’m losing the light
Encircled by demons, I fight

What have I become, now that I’ve betrayed
Everyone I’ve ever loved, I pushed them all away
And I have been a slave to the Judas in my mind
Is there something left for me to save
In the wreckage of my life, my life

I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
Judas in, Judas in my mind

I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
Judas in, Judas in my mind
Judas in my mind

Oh, this guilt is a heavy cross
There is blood on the path I walk
And each step I take is haunting me
Embraced by the darkness, I’m losing the light
Encircled by demons, I fight

What have I become, now that I’ve betrayed
Everyone I’ve ever loved, I pushed them all away
And I have been a slave to the Judas in my mind
Is there something left of me to save
In the wreckage of my life, my life

I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
Judas in, Judas in my mind
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
Judas in, Judas in my mind
Judas in my mind
Judas in my mind

What have I become, now that I’ve betrayed
Everyone I’ve ever loved, I pushed them all away
And I have been a slave to the Judas in my mind
Is there something left of me to save
In the wreckage of my life, my life

I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
Judas in, Judas in my mind
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
I’m becom-, I’m becom-, I’m becoming
Judas in, Judas in my mind

William Regal Recalls Emotional Last Match With Bryan Danielson

0

William Regal has a long history with Bryan Danielson with many chapters in it. One such chapter was when Regal wrestled the former world champion in what he thought was his last match. This match, which was one of the wrestling veteran’s final outings in the ring, took place during a Superstars episode in November 2011. It was also the final time the two superstars shared a ring for a bout. The former NXT GM had suffered a leg injury the night before but Bryan carried him masterfully without letting anyone know about his injury.

Regal told his story during his appearance on Talk Is Jericho. He mentioned how he decided to put Bryan over because of their history together. Recalling the incident made Regal emotional:

“I tore me meniscus in my right leg. The next night I’m on with Bryan. They were going ‘no you can’t wrestle, you can’t wrestle.’ I said ‘no I want to put him over because he is the person who has stuck around me and listened to all my nonsense for the last [so many years] and comment and called me and sent me stuff. And I’ve sent him to places and put good words in for him and whatever else. If there is one person I wanna to have my last match with its him.’ So if you watch that match, you will see me walk down to the ring and then they actually played a rib on me. [They] played my old Man’s man music halfway down the ramp. I’m glad because they had to help me in the building that day. I couldn’t walk. I don’t like giving away this you know, that old fashioned things.

But If you watch that match it’s 17 minutes of him carrying me because I can’t walk,” said William Regal. He got emotional telling the story and took a moment to compose himself. “Sorry,” he continued. “He did a masterful job. He actually even wrestled and did stuff on my leg without bending it.”

‘This Lad’s Something Special’

After all the effort Bryan Danielson put in the match to make it memorable for Regal, the wrestling veteran was praying that people in the office would take notice of the former ROH star. This is exactly what happened. Bryan was playing a heel in the match. His performance impressed the boss himself, leading to a heel push:

“If you know that. You go into that [match] with this [knowledge] and watch what a masterful job he did of carrying me. He even made it look like he bent my leg around the corner post and never bent. We came out there and I thought [I’ll] put in [a word for him]. I was happy. [I thought] hopefully somebody is gonna pay attention to this because this lad’s something special, which they already were. But it was just my little thing. [I believed] that’s it. I’m done now, I’m probably [done wrestling] That’s it. because I was already doing bits of commentary. [I thought] That’s it, I’m gone.

I came back and Mr. McMahon was there. I never thought he watched Superstars. He was right there to [see] me. He shook hands and Bryan walked off. He went. ‘Thank you very much.’ He said ‘That was a good old proper wrestling match.’ He said ‘that lads gonna make a good villain, ain’t he?'”

Swerve Strickland On If Triple H Played Favorites In NXT

0

While Triple H didn’t pick his favorites during his time as the head of NXT, he did have a core group of talents he preferred over others, according to Swerve Strickland.

The now former WWE star appeared on the Getting Over podcast. Among other things, he discussed how The Game ran the development brand during his time there.

Strickland said that Triple H didn’t buy into him until Hit Row became a thing. He then explained how the WWE EVP chose which guys he wanted to push:

“He’s one of those guys like, he has those talents on the show that he knows and he’s well-acquainted with and it’s hard for him to deviate from those guys. When he’s set on someone, he’s set on them.

Anybody who says that he doesn’t, like, I wouldn’t call it picking favorites,” said Swerve Strickland, “but if somebody says he doesn’t have his core guys, you’re one of the core guys. You know what I mean?”

The AEW star continued his explanation saying that Triple H missed out on people like Matt Riddle and Bianca Belair because he was focused on his core group of talent.

According to him, when you are running a weekly product like NXT, you have to prefer some people over others. You want to go to your guaranteed guys.
