William Regal has a long history with Bryan Danielson with many chapters in it. One such chapter was when Regal wrestled the former world champion in what he thought was his last match. This match, which was one of the wrestling veteran’s final outings in the ring, took place during a Superstars episode in November 2011. It was also the final time the two superstars shared a ring for a bout. The former NXT GM had suffered a leg injury the night before but Bryan carried him masterfully without letting anyone know about his injury.
Regal told his story during his appearance on Talk Is Jericho. He mentioned how he decided to put Bryan over because of their history together. Recalling the incident made Regal emotional:
“I tore me meniscus in my right leg. The next night I’m on with Bryan. They were going ‘no you can’t wrestle, you can’t wrestle.’ I said ‘no I want to put him over because he is the person who has stuck around me and listened to all my nonsense for the last [so many years] and comment and called me and sent me stuff. And I’ve sent him to places and put good words in for him and whatever else. If there is one person I wanna to have my last match with its him.’ So if you watch that match, you will see me walk down to the ring and then they actually played a rib on me. [They] played my old Man’s man music halfway down the ramp. I’m glad because they had to help me in the building that day. I couldn’t walk. I don’t like giving away this you know, that old fashioned things.
But If you watch that match it’s 17 minutes of him carrying me because I can’t walk,” said William Regal. He got emotional telling the story and took a moment to compose himself. “Sorry,” he continued. “He did a masterful job. He actually even wrestled and did stuff on my leg without bending it.”
After all the effort Bryan Danielson put in the match to make it memorable for Regal, the wrestling veteran was praying that people in the office would take notice of the former ROH star. This is exactly what happened. Bryan was playing a heel in the match. His performance impressed the boss himself, leading to a heel push:
“If you know that. You go into that [match] with this [knowledge] and watch what a masterful job he did of carrying me. He even made it look like he bent my leg around the corner post and never bent. We came out there and I thought [I’ll] put in [a word for him]. I was happy. [I thought] hopefully somebody is gonna pay attention to this because this lad’s something special, which they already were. But it was just my little thing. [I believed] that’s it. I’m done now, I’m probably [done wrestling] That’s it. because I was already doing bits of commentary. [I thought] That’s it, I’m gone.
I came back and Mr. McMahon was there. I never thought he watched Superstars. He was right there to [see] me. He shook hands and Bryan walked off. He went. ‘Thank you very much.’ He said ‘That was a good old proper wrestling match.’ He said ‘that lads gonna make a good villain, ain’t he?'”

The Undertaker will be headlining the 2022 class of Hall Of Fame. Vader and Queen Sharmell both have also been announced for inductions alongside him.
Steiner Brothers, consisting of Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner are one team that has been rumored for an induction but are yet to be confirmed.
While the duo have not officially been announced for Hall Of Fame yet, PWinsider is reporting that several Steiner family members including Rick are slated to be in Dallas for the WrestleMania 38 week.
The site also noted that there are currently no plans for Batista to be inducted into HOF this year. Though he is expected to be in attendance for Taker’s induction.
As far as his own induction goes, it’s believed that the Animal will be inducted into Hall Of Fame next year. WrestleMania 39 will take place from Hollywood.
Another name who will unsurprisingly be in attendance for the ceremony with Undertaker being inducted is Glenn “Kane” Jacobs.
Finally, Queen Sharmell who is the only announced female inductee of this year so far will be inducted by her husband Booker T.
The Hall Of Fame ceremony this year will be taking place from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It will air on Friday, April 1 at 10 pm Eastern Time, right after the broadcast of SmackDown.
While Triple H didn’t pick his favorites during his time as the head of NXT, he did have a core group of talents he preferred over others, according to Swerve Strickland.
The now former WWE star appeared on the Getting Over podcast. Among other things, he discussed how The Game ran the development brand during his time there.
Strickland said that Triple H didn’t buy into him until Hit Row became a thing. He then explained how the WWE EVP chose which guys he wanted to push:
“He’s one of those guys like, he has those talents on the show that he knows and he’s well-acquainted with and it’s hard for him to deviate from those guys. When he’s set on someone, he’s set on them.
Anybody who says that he doesn’t, like, I wouldn’t call it picking favorites,” said Swerve Strickland, “but if somebody says he doesn’t have his core guys, you’re one of the core guys. You know what I mean?”
The AEW star continued his explanation saying that Triple H missed out on people like Matt Riddle and Bianca Belair because he was focused on his core group of talent.
According to him, when you are running a weekly product like NXT, you have to prefer some people over others. You want to go to your guaranteed guys.
Alongside people such as The Undertaker and Vader, the 2022 Hall Of Fame class will also feature former WWE star and the wife of Booker T, Sharmell.
The former WCW world champion talked about this induction in detail during the latest episode of his Hall Of Fame podcast, alongside other things.
Booker claimed that he is proud to see his queen take her place inside the Hall Of Fame. According to him, it’s the ultimate stamp of approval:
“I’m happy and I’m proud to see my queen take her place inside the Hall of Fame. I’ve always said it many times that Sharmell didn’t get the recognition that a lot of the girls have always got, but this is the ultimate recognition.
It’s the ultimate stamp of approval” said Booker T, “saying we really appreciate everything that you’ve done for the business as well as for this company.”
Santos Escobar’s interview time backstage was interrupted by Rey & Dominik Mysterio. They set up a match between Dominik and Raul Mendoza for later in the night.
The match was short with the majority of the offense going to Dominik. There was outside interference from the heels. Dominik hit a frog splash off the top rope for the win.
Last week on the show, Dolph Ziggler beat Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa in a triple threat bout to win the WWE NXT Title.
WWE had Ziggler appear on Miz TV on this show. Miz actually had fans chanting his name at first. He plugged his WrestleMania match and then introduced Ziggler. Ziggler said being NXT champion feels right. Robert Rood said everyone knows there are no rules in a triple threat bout and he always follows the rules, a heel play on costing Bron the win.
LA Knight came out to a monster pop and recalled Ziggler taking his advice to come to NXT. LA said if Bron can’t be here tonight to challenge for the title then it should be him. Ziggler said he’s a fighting champion but only fights superstars. Miz said Ziggler has a point and while Knight is going to be a major player, it just won’t be now. LA said he’s a megastar and any day of the week he can take the title off Ziggler. LA wants Ziggler to show him that NXT is his show. Ziggler said the day LA finds out where the main event is then that’s where he’ll find him. Miz booked the match for the headliner of the show.
The match was saved for the main event. After a back and forth match, Knight started getting near falls. Ziggler went over with his finisher. Breakker came out to the ring and demanded his rematch for the title at Stand and Deliver. Ziggler accepted.
This feud started last week after Pirotta said that she and Duke Hudson had a great weekend and Hartwell asked if she even cares if they lost their Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic match. Pirotta stated she was carrying the team and did not like that Hartwell wasn’t supportive of her relationship. They argued before Hartwell suggested they deal with it in the ring.
The match was short with going over Indi going over with a roll up. Post-match, Indi made out with Loomis and Persia made out with Hudson.
Last week, a vignette aired showing A-Kid where he said he was the first Spanish WWE superstar and worked hard to get signed to NXT UK. He brought up being the first Heritage Cup Champion.
It was actually a back and forth bout that saw Kushida get plenty of offense so it wasn’t a showcase match for A-Kid, who did go over with his finisher.
Cameron Grimes vs. Santos Escobar was booked in a qualifier for the Fatal 5 Way NXT North American Title Ladder Match at Stand & Deliver. Already confirmed for the upcoming bout includes current champion Carmelo Hayes.
The back and forth bout ended with Santos going over with his finisher.
Killer Kross is slated to make his New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut in less than a month as the promotion released a new vignette to hype his arrival.
The former WWE star will be working for the company on April 1st at Lonestar Shootout in Dallas, Texas. Kross issued a match challenge in the video and brought up Minoru Suzuki’s name so that could be a future match made.
While with WWE, he was pushed as a top star in NXT and became a two-time NXT Champion. Alongside real-life fiance and on-screen partner Scarlett Bordeaux, they immediately got over with their entrance.
However, while on the main roster, he treaded water due to booking. The company repackaged him a few different times including wearing a helmet during his entrance. WWE had been planning to repackage him again before he was let go last November.
Kross has competed for Warrior Wrestling, MLW, WrestlePro and Future Stars of Wrestling since becoming a free agent. Here’s the current lineup for Lonestar Shootout:
Ren Narita vs. Rocky Romero
David Finlay, Juice Robinson, Daniel Garcia & Kevin Knight vs. Máscara Dorada, Yuya Uemura, Karl Fredericks & Clark Connors
WWE legend Bret Hart has shared his tribute to Scott Hall.
During their time in the then WWF, Hart and Hall as Razor Ramon had several matches against each other. The most notable match was Hart’s successful WWE Championship defense against Hall at Royal Rumble on Jan. 24, 1993.
Wrestling fans and legends like Hulk Hogan have paid their respects to Hall after passing away at 63 on Mar. 14. After learning of his passing, Hart shared his tribute on Facebook about his former rival and reflected on the working conditions they faced in their careers.
“I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Scott Hall. I wasn’t very close with Scott in his later years, but upon reflection, I can flashback to many happy and fun memories of the days when he was my friend. I think Scott carried many heavy crosses long before I ever knew him. He was a good friend to Owen long before he became Razor Ramon. Wrestling life can be so much fun, and at the same time, it can take all you have at the same time,” said Hart.
Bret Hart on the Work Conditions during his Era
Professional wrestling is a challenging job to have. Wrestlers have shared stories about the working conditions and struggle to balance family life throughout the decades. Hart reflected on their working conditions, including Hall, in their careers in the post.
“…We’ve lost so many wrestlers from my era, and this is just one more to a list that’s far too long. I won’t blame anyone thing, but I do believe that if the days of wrestling 300 days a year had been kinder and more considerate if we could’ve been home with our loved ones more, many of my old friends and brothers would still be here,” said Hart.
Hart has also shared on Facebook that his niece Tanya Hart has passed away. She is the daughter of Smith Hart. He shared that she had a difficult life but is at peace now.

WWE has taken the first step to dismiss a lawsuit against them by MLW. Major League Wrestling filed a lawsuit this past January where they alleged attempts to monopolize the wrestling market and undermine the competition.
The center of the case is regarding a potential partnership with streaming service Tubi as MLW accused WWE of not wanting Tubi, owned by FOX, to work with a rival promotion and that the company put a stop to the deal before it could be completed.
WWE’s attorney Jerry McDevitt has publicly stated that MLW shouldn’t be suing WWE, but rather Tubi for breaking the deal. WWE was served with it on January 14th. MLW was granted a motion to seal their financial information.
WWE has filed a motion to dismiss the case as they argued that LLW failed to please “a facially sustainable relevant market, monopoly power or anticompetitive conduct, or antitrust injury.”
They also argued, “MLW’s claim for intentional interference with contractual relations is unsupported by factual allegations, and what allegations MW pleads are entirely implausible.”
Finally, WWE argued the case should be thrown out as neither company is a resident in California, which is where the lawsuit is filed.
WWE has filed a motion today to dismiss MLW's lawsuit in California, which was filed in January, alleging WWE interfered in potential MLW media deals including one with Tubi.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s parents are not happy with their son.
“The Nicest Guy In Pro Wrestling” turns 26 today, March 15th. While most parents would celebrate their son’s birthday, MJF parents expressed disappointment in their son’s recent attitude.
Nina and Steven Friedman posted pictures of their son on Twitter with some not-so-kind words about him. (The tweets should be taken as a joke, but they continues MJF’s gimmick of his parents being unhappy with him.)
Nina tweeted a photo of MJF that said, “Happy Birthday to this once….SWEET, ADORABLE, LOVING, ANGELIC, INNOCENT BABY BOY! I don’t know what the FU#% happened to you or where you went, but today I will choose to remember this child and pray he will be back someday soon!”

Another person that took a shot at MJF on Twitter was Capt. Shawn Dean, which could turn into a match on AEW.
Dean hopes to remind MJF that he did defeat him at AEW Dynamite on Jan 5., despite it being by disqualification. In the match, CM Punk gave the Captain a GTS to make the referee disqualify MJF. Dean’s win also gave MJF his first loss of the year.
MJF refuses to acknowledge that the Captain defeated him. Regardless, Dean mocked MJF with a Happy Birthday video and showed off a T-shirt that says: “I Beat You and You Know It.” It’s unclear if AEW is interested in having a rematch or a feud between the two. However, Dean does point out that MJF has had a difficult start to his 2022 year in AEW, which the company could use for another feud for MJF.
MJF is in a unique situation in AEW. He seemingly finished his feud with CM Punk in defeat at AEW Revolution on Mar. 7. The loss to CM Punk has also removed MJF from the AEW world title picture.
It’s unclear what his employers have planned for MJF. His former bodyguard Wardlow has moved on from him and is the number one contender for the TNT Champion. AEW has teased tension between the two for several months. It’s possible MJF could feud with Wardlow next, potentially with the TNT Championship at stake.
Women’s History Month is officially upon us, and in the midst of WrestleMania season, WWE has already announced three premiere women’s matches for the biggest event of the year.
Last year, Bianca Belair captured the Smackdown Women’s Championship by defeating Sasha Banks in the main event of night 1 of WrestleMania 37. Three years ago, Becky Lynch emerged as the Smackdown and RAW Women’s Champions in the first ever Women’s Main Event of WrestleMania. In 2022, the two victors of the only women’s WrestleMania main events collide with the RAW Women’s Championship on the line.
Before this path for WrestleMania 38 was forged however, Becky Lynch faced possibly her toughest opponent to date, in the form of WWE Hall of Famer, Lita. On February 19th in Saudi Arabia, four-time WWE Women’s Champion Lita competed for singles gold for the first time in over fifteen years. After an impressive performance in the Royal Rumble, Lita returned to RAW to challenge RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch to an enticing challenge: Lita wanted a shot at the RAW Women’s Championship at Elimination Chamber. Hesitantly, Becky Lynch accepted.
Once at Elimination Chamber, this matchup breeded brilliance amongst both competitors. Becky Lynch landed all of her signature moves: The Bexploder, Disarm-her submission, and the Manhandle Slam. However, it was not enough to faze the WWE Hall of Famer. Meanwhile, Lita brought out blasts from the past, hitting a Stratusphere, a Twist of Fate, and her iconic Litasault. Both competitors battled back and forth, kicking out of each other’s powerful moves.
The live crowd in Saudi Arabia watched on in amazement, while the WWE Universe watching at home watched awestruckly, praising the battle between both performers. It should be noted too that unlike some of her previous matchups, Becky Lynch ran by the books in this bout, with no rope leverage assists and virtually no underhanded tactics. Perhaps it was a sign of respect and admiration for her opponent, Lita.
In the end, Becky Lynch retained the RAW Women’s Championship by hitting a Manhandle Slam on Lita, gaining the pinfall. After the match though, Lita basked in the thunderous ovation of the live crowd, a sign of deep respect for the WWE Hall of Famer.
Lita had previously come out of retirement for a quick match at RAW 1,000, then in 2018 at the Royal Rumble and Evolution pay-per-views. This time though, she ran a legit program with one of the biggest stars of today’s generation in WWE.
The courage and fight exemplified throughout Lita’s performance at Elimination Chamber beautifully demonstrates the aura of past generations of women in WWE. Despite not being given their proper dues during their initial run, reemergences like Lita’s exemplifies the drawing power and benefit of bringing back legends into today’s landscape of superstars.
Another prime example of this benefit played out in the summer of 2019 between Charlotte Flair and seven-time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus. The two formally collided at SummerSlam, but the presence of Stratus definitely added extra leverage to drawing value of the women’s matches that night. Stratus unlocked a new reportoire while also revisiting her signature moves in her fight against Flair. Historically, the story of this encounter was beautifully written too.
For nearly 13 years, Trish Stratus held the record for most Women’s Championships won in WWE. In 2019, Charlotte Flair shattered that record, making her the most decorated women’s champion in the history of the company. Rightfully so, Stratus returned to the ring later that year to not only go one-on-one with the woman who beat her record, but to further elevate the current generation of female superstars.
Even in defeat, Stratus received a wide ovation from the WWE Universe that night in Toronto, as well as online praise from spectators watching from around the world. Similarly, the addition of surprise entrants to Royal Rumble matches has drawn equivalent excitment and drawing power through returning legends every year.
The WWE Universe undeniably “pops” at the return of (most) female legends. Much like we’ve seen from their male counterparts, invested programs with a mix of legends and current talent has often proved to captivate the audience in numerous ways. It’s a nostalgic familiarity blended with the modern style and look of today’s generation of superstars that serves a spectucular showcase of women’s wrestling.
The stars of the past carry much drawing power, experience, and importance. They paved the way for today’s generation of talent. Many of today’s stars yearn for matches with many of the stars of the past as well, so why not capitalize?
The wrestling world lost a legend on Monday with the passing of Scott Hall.
One of the most influential performers of his generation, Hall was the epitome of “cool” in the 1990s. Whether it was during his time as Razor Ramon in the World Wrestling Federation, or using his real name as a member of the nWo in WCW, Hall left a mark on the industry that won’t soon be forgotten.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a kid in the 1990s that didn’t imitate the man at some point during their adolescence — the toothpick throw, the signature walk or yelling out a “Hey yo!” Scott Hall became ingrained in popular culture.
For those wanting to relive some of the great moments of his storied career, here are seven must-watch Scott Hall matches for fans familiar to the man (or for those who want to become more acquainted with some of his best work).
Razor Ramon vs. 1-2-3 Kid, WWE RAW (May 17, 1993)
In the early days of RAW, this was a match that made it known that the show couldn’t be missed. In addition, on this same broadcast, Marty Jannetty defeated Shawn Michaels for the Intercontinental Championship. It was a historic night indeed.
This was Hall taking a pinfall that nobody saw coming for a man who would become one of his best friends in life, Sean Waltman. The finish would be replayed numerous times over the years as one of the most shocking moments on WWE television. It shows the generous side of Scott Hall. It’s not an in-ring classic, it’s very brief, but it’s on this list for historical significance.
Echoing history nearly 10 years later, Hall did a similar job for a rising young star in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels, WrestleMania X (March 20, 1994)
This is the most obvious choice on the list. The most famous match of Hall’s career, and arguably his most influential. Though there had been a ladder match in the WWE before this (Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels in 1992 for the IC Title), this was the first time a ladder match was featured as part of a PPV.
Introducing the majority of wrestling fans at the time to a new match concept, Hall and Michaels (two real-life good friends) went out and electrified Madison Square Garden. The match received five stars in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and won Match of the Year for 1994.
Watching the match now, the spots might seem tame in comparison to the more psychotic ladder matches we have seen since, but this one stands the test of time for its next-level psychology and historical significance.
Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels, WWE RAW (August 1, 1994)
This was Shawn Michaels’ first television match since the aforementioned ladder match at WrestleMania X. The backdrop was the fact that Diesel (Kevin Nash, Intercontinental Champion at the time) would be defending his belt against Razor at SummerSlam just a couple of weeks later in Chicago.
This bout opens the RAW broadcast and is a doozy. From the first opening moments, Shawn is bumping all over the place for the much bigger Hall, letting him showcase his powerful offense.
As a bonus, this was the first episode of WWE television after Vince McMahon was acquitted of charges in the famous steroid trial. Randy Savage leans into this on commentary, with a “hung jury” being mentioned on more than one occasion.
Razor is outnumbered here, leading to Todd Pettengill mentioning moments after the match that Ramon might need to start looking into getting backup for SummerSlam. That would end up being none other than legendary NFL running back Walter Payton.

Razor Ramon and 1-2-3 Kid vs. Shawn Michaels and Diesel, WWE Action Zone (October 30, 1994)
Four best friends going out of their way to make each other look great. A bout that aired on WWE’s new Sunday broadcast (this was just the second episode of Action Zone) and did it’s best to make the new show can’t-miss programming.
This match earned 4.5 stars in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Given the short-lived television show it aired on, it has been hard to find over the years. However, it was released on a couple of Coliseum Videos at the time (Slamfest ’95 and Shawn Michaels:Hits From The Heartbreak Kid) and was featured on the 2015 Kliq Rules DVD set from WWE. Hits from the Heartbreak Kid is available on Peacock and the WWE Network.
Razor Ramon vs. Owen Hart, WWE RAW (January 9, 1995)
Another outstanding bout that opened a WWE RAW broadcast. Razor was the Intercontinental Champion at the time, taking on Owen Hart in the final days of his feud with his brother Bret (Bret’s involved in the finish of the match).
The crowd that night at Houston’s Summit is on fire as, similar to the RAW match with Shawn referenced above, Owen bumps all over the place to make Razor look like a million bucks. There’s never a dull moment throughout the match — 100% action-packed from bell to bell in front of what has always been a great wrestling city.
Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels, WWE SummerSlam (August 27, 1995)
The sequel to the WrestleMania X ladder match. Razor and Shawn take up the ladder once again for the Intercontinental Championship, this time in Pittsburgh. Honestly, some people actually prefer this one to the WrestleMania match, and it’s pretty close to a toss-up. I’d go with WrestleMania due to the historic nature of the match, but this one is really damn good, too.
This match would rank as one of the top 10 WWE matches of the 1990s by most accounts. You owe it to yourself to watch it if you’ve never seen it, especially if you’ve only seen the much more talked about WrestleMania ladder match.
Other than an IC Title match with Goldust at Royal Rumble 1996, this would end up being one of Razor’s last significant matches during his original run with WWE. Less than one year later, he’d be lighting it up with the nWo in WCW. Which leads us to…
The Outsiders vs. Randy Savage, Lex Luger and Sting, WCW Bash at the Beach (July 7, 1996)
This one is more for the history than the match itself, although it’s not bad by any means. Ring work wise, it doesn’t live up to the matches listed above, but it’s iconic for a different reason.
This was the night the nWo was born. Hall and Nash, The Outsiders, promised a mystery partner. They work almost the entire match by themselves, but then in the closing moments, Hulk Hogan comes down and turns his back on WCW, aligning himself with Hall and Nash to form the New World Order. A new wrestling boom period was born and Hall was crucial to its success.
Hall had been the original Outsider, debuting with the company unannounced six weeks earlier during the Memorial Day broadcast of WCW Nitro. His arrival started a spark, Nash’s subsequent arrival at Great American Bash kept the momentum building, and Hogan’s heel turn was the fire being lit for one of the most memorable periods in wrestling history.
Final Thoughts
Other matches that just missed the cut but are absolutely worth checking out:

Brian Gewirtz has played a key role in The Rock’s success dating back to their time in WWE and he feels “The Great One” has at least one more match in him.
It’s well-known by now that The Rock is busy. He’s Hollywood’s biggest star and is always in demand. He has found a way to take some time off for WWE appearances and even wrestled John Cena in back-to-back WrestleMania events.
Finally, The Rock Has Come Back?
During an interview with TV Insider, Brian Gewirtz said that he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of The Rock making his return to the squared circle.
“I sometimes learn of Dwayne’s wrestling aspirations the way everyone else does: through his social media posts. There are so many factors that go into Dwayne’s appearance in terms of a WWE ring. Between his movie schedule and health.
“Infamously at WrestleMania against John Cena, it resulted in some pretty horrific injuries that required surgery and the delaying of the Hercules movie at the time. I also know this is a passion and business he was born into and born with. That never truly goes away.
“I don’t know if you’ve seen the guy lately, but he is in pretty good shape. I think he could probably do it if push came to shove. I think it comes down to what he wants to do and when. It comes down to what Dwayne wants to do. I’m sure WWE would be more than happy to have him.”
Of course, WWE is hoping to pull off a match between The Rock and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in 2023. Whether or not they can pull it off remains to be seen. To many, it would be the biggest match the wrestling industry has seen in quite some time.
It will be Austin 3:16 Day on Wednesday this week and the pro wrestling world will be celebrating the illustrious career of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
For the occasion, Steve Austin has announced that his Broken Skull American Lager will be available in stores nationwide. Austin is releasing the lager in partnership with El Segundo Brewing Company, which has also worked with Austin in producing his Broken Skull India pale ale.
Apart from the lager, WWE has some more stuff planned for 3:16 Day. The company has announced that it will air an episode of The Best of WWE on Peacock which will be hosted by Steve Austin himself. The episode will showcase his best WWE matches and moments from his career.
Also, four new Austin shirts will be sold on WWE Shop to celebrate 3:16 Day along with the classic black and white Austin 3:16 shirt.
Kevin Owens will appear on WWE’s The Bump this week to talk about Austin accepting his invite for appearing on The KO Show at WrestleMania 38.
Speaking of which, Kevin Owens ended last week’s Monday Night Raw by asking Austin to guest on his show during Night 1 of The Grandest Stage Of Them All. Austin would accept Owen’s invitation, saying:
“19 years ago, I wrestled my last match in a WWE ring. After three Rock Bottoms, 1-2-3, I lost the match. And for 19 years, I’ve had to live with that defeat, knowing my time was up. Kevin Owens, I want to thank you,” Austin said. “I want to thank you for waking something up inside me that I’ve kept buried for 19 years. Ever since you started running that mealy mouth of yours, talking about the state of Texas, the great state of Texas, you got my attention. And why would you want to do that, Kevin?”
“I can think of two reasons. One, you are one dumb son of a bitch. Two, you are fixing to get your ass kicked by Stone Cold Steve Austin. Whether you want to call this the KO Show, a match, a fight, a brawl, whatever. I will guarantee you this. In Dallas, TX, where I started my career, at WrestleMania, Stone Cold Steve Austin is gonna open up one last can of whoop ass on you, Kevin Owens. And that’s the bottom line ’cause Stone Cold Said so!”
Steve Austin is not slated to be wrestling at WrestleMania 38. There is a report that suggests Austin is going to be involved in a “fight sequence.” It will reportedly involve him performing more than just a couple of Stunners.
AEW broadcaster Jim Ross also chimed in on the matter on his Grilling JR podcast, saying that Austin wasn’t very keen with what WWE had planned for him.
“He and I have talked,” said Ross, “but at the time we talked, he didn’t know what he was going to do and he didn’t sound overwhelmingly enthusiastic about it.” Ross said that if Austin agreed to do one more match then he would train at least 6 months to get into the shape he’d deem appropriate for a return.
On this week’s Monday Night Raw, Edge made a strong statement as he cut another promo with the blue lighting. He claimed he is better than everyone and that the fans don’t matter to him and he sits on the top of the mountain of omnipotence and looks down on everyone.
While “The Rated R Superstar” in his heel persona gave his speech under blue lighting, there was another thing that was different apart from his alignment. This time, fans didn’t hear Alter Bridge’s “Metalingus” blaring through the speakers as they usually do when Edge arrives. This time, Edge came out with a new entrance theme.
The new track, “The Other Side,” is also by Alter Bridge from their 2016 album The Last Hero. Edge had used “Metalingus” since 2005 as his entrance music, but looks like the 11-time world champion has finally decided to move on to a different track.
The song talks about finding redemption and salvation through ways that aren’t necessarily “good” or healthy. The song change helps shed some more light on Edge’s new heel persona.
Alter Bridge took to Twitter to post about their song being used as Edge’s theme, writing, “‘You think you know me… you never did!'”
In the promo, Edge claimed that he failed to show how superior he is than everyone else in professional wrestling because he was trying too hard to make fans happy. Edge said that in return, all the fans did was have his triceps torn by Randy Orton, his home invaded by Seth Rollins, and be pinned by Roman Reigns who he called an “Aquaman cosplayer.” Edge declared that this old version of him is dead now as he is on the top and will judge AJ Styles at WrestleMania 38.
Listen to Edge’s new entrance theme, “The Other Side” by Alter Bridge:
Expect to see WWE utilize more main roster performers in NXT.
NXT is the company’s developmental brand, where fans can see the next generation of WWE Superstars learning their craft.
WWE previously relied solely on developmental talent to carry the show, but that is no longer the case. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that there’s a new initiative to send wrestlers from the Raw brand to NXT most weeks.
There are certainly benefits to developmental wrestlers working with and learning from veterans. However, the primary motivation behind this campaign is to improve viewership for the NXT 2.0 TV show.
WWE can announce a Raw Superstar will be on NXT TV the following night, as is the case this week with The Miz holding a special edition of Miz TV on NXT. Both shows air on the USA Network and the hope is that Raw superstars will bring star power (and viewers) to Tuesday nights.
AJ Styles also visited NXT recently, as part of this trend.
NXT’s top champions are both WWE Superstars who have been sent to NXT for this very reason. Back in October, Mandy Rose defeated Raquel Gonzales to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Last week, Dolph Ziggler ended Bron Breakker’s 63-day reign as NXT Champion.
NXT 2.0 Preview (3/15/22)
In addition to The Miz interviewing Dolph Ziggler, the following items are scheduled for tonight’s NXT broadcast:
North American Championship Qualifying Match: Cameron Grimes vs. Santos Escobar
The wrestling world lost one of the most influential people in the business as Scott Hall, also known as “Razor Ramon”, unfortunately passed away on March 14.
Hall was hospitalized this month after he broke his hip from a fall. He underwent hip replacement surgery and a blood clot was dislodged, which led to him suffering three heart attacks. He was then put on life support. On Monday afternoon, he was taken off life support and WWE announced his passing later that day.
The company shared a touching tribute video on Monday Night Raw dedicated to the “Bad Guy.”
“The WWE family will forever remember Scott Hall as a gifted entertainer and 2-time WWE Hall of Famer, a loving father and a dear friend,” a post shared on WWE’s Twitter account reads.
“The WWE family is saddened by the passing of Scott Hall, the man who proved it’s good to be the ‘Bad Guy,'” the video starts with the narration.
The video highlights the quick impact that Razor Ramon made upon his debut in the WWE in 1992. Triple H, Kevin Nash, and Hulk Hogan recount how Hall made it cool to be the bad guy with his Razor Ramon persona.
The video also touches on his legacy as one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions, and how he helped revolutionize sports entertainment with his stint with the nWo. Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Sean Waltman recall that Hall was the pioneer in bringing something to sports entertainment that felt special and real.
The video aptly concludes with part of Razor Ramon’s Induction speech at the 2014 Hall of Fame: “Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don’t last, but bad guys do.” Ramon will always be one of the coolest guys to ever step in the ring, and his sheer swagger will continue to inspire many to be the cool bad guys.
Monday’s edition WWE Raw from Jacksonville, FL came and went with no sign of Cody Rhodes. The show was built around Seth Rollins needing something to do at WrestleMania. As the show went off the air, Rollins remained without an opponent for WWE’s biggest event of the year.
So, is Cody Rhodes really coming to WWE? If so, when?
WWE fans can rest assured, there is still an exceedingly high possibility that the American Nightmare will be back on WWE programming within the next month.
Cody Rhodes Hints During WWE Raw
WWE dropped several hints about Cody Rhodes throughout the Raw broadcast, both on camera and on social media.
During a backstage segment with Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens, Rollins complained about having nothing to do at WrestleMania. A loud, “Cody” chant broke out from the live crowd. WWE did not censor the chant, which speaks volumes. The company is not shy about piping in crowd noise to drown out chants they don’t want heard on television. WWE knows fans are expecting Cody Rhodes to be Seth Rollins’ WrestleMania opponent and are allowing this anticipating to continue building.
The WWE on BT Sport Twitter account tweeted a photo of Seth Rollins during Raw with the caption, “The adrenaline is pumping tonight, who’s Seth Rollins going to face at WrestleMania?” One could say, the adrenaline is pumping in Rollins soul.
After Seth Rollins lost to Kevin Owens in the main event, broadcaster Corey Graves noted, “His dreams were dashed. This must be a nightmare. These are clear references to Cody Rhodes’ nicknames, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes and “The American Nightmare.”
Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
The impression within WWE is that Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins is locked in for WrestleMania. On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke confidently about Cody’s imminent arrival.
“He’s coming. I mean, that’s it,” said Meltzer. “He’s coming. He’s wrestling Seth at Wrestlemania, unless something changes & I don’t expect.. I sure watched [Raw] not thinking anything’s changing.”
WWE has made Seth Rollins’ role at WrestleMania a focal storyline over the past couple weeks. If WWE truly had nothing for Rollins, they would downplay him and he would be cycled off television in the final weeks of hype. They’ve done the opposite.
Scott Hall, whose 20-year career transformed pro wrestling in the 1990s, died on Monday following complications from surgery.
According to Hall’s longtime friend and tag team partner Kevin Nash, Hall had suffered three cardiac arrests while having hip surgery, due to complications from blood clots. Hall, who was 63 years old, was on life support and survived for several hours after it was removed. He died later in the day.
Hall’s career experienced meteoric highs and crushing lows due to issues with addiction, alcohol, and pain killers. Despite addiction issues that hampered his career during the Monday Night Wars, he was noted as a brilliant mind, someone who could spot young talent and wrestle a versatile and athletic style as a large wrestler.
Hall’s life spiraled after he retired from wrestling, but he was able to get back into physical shape and recover from many of his issues thanks to help from Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Diamond Dallas Page. Hall’s recovery and efforts to turn his life around were shown side-by-side with Roberts in the Resurrection of Jake the Snake documentary.
Scott Hall as Razor Ramon
Hall had worked several years as Razor Ramon in the World Wrestling Federation through the early and mid 1990s. The character was based off the Diamond Studd character Hall began using in WCW while in the mid-card. He debuted with the WWF after a series of vignette’s promoting his character as a Tony Montana Cuban tough guy.
Hall’s WWF peak was his win in the first prominent WWF ladder match against Shawn Michaels. The match was considered on par with the great matches in company history. The win propelled Hall to a successful WWF Intercontinental Title run.
Hall’s most important work was during his return to WCW. Hall debuted in the spring of 1996 on WCW Monday Nitro speaking with his Cuban accent and talking down Gene Okerlund and Randy Savage using language from a series of WWF skits.
Scott Hall arrives in WCW (Memorial Day, 1996)
“You people. You know who I am, but you don’t know why I am here,” Hall said. “You want a war? You’re going to get one.”
Hall’s WCW debut was transformative for multiple reasons. He entered from the crowd, as an invader, which was meant to lead fans to believe he was there on behalf of the WWF in an invasion. Adding to the reality of the situation was Hall interrupting a match on Nitro, only for the competitors to stop and walk of like it was a security situation.
Hall’s WCW debut was one of the three major events that started the late 1990s wrestling boom, along with Hulk Hogan’s heel turn and the formation of the NWO and the debut of WCW Nitro on TNT. The moment is still copied and paid tribute to. When Jon Moxley debuted for All-Elite Wrestling at its first Double or Nothing PPV, Moxley entered the ring wearing a denim vest like Hall wore during his WCW debut 25 years earlier and came down to the ring opposite of the hard cam through the fans.
The formation of the nWo (Bash at the Beach, 1996)
Hogan’s heel turn at Bash of the Beach 1996 happened during a match between Hall and Nash against Sting, Randy Savage and Lex Luger. Luger was injured and taken out of the match early. Hulk Hogan appeared to save the day, but attacked Savage, leading fans to throw garbage and drinks into the ring. Hogan’s heel turn was a massive money driver, but much of Hogan’s credibility as a heel came from the cool factor of Nash, Hall and Sean Waltman, who were younger and dropped pop culture references across their promos and re-invented the cool heel.
Hall was noted by many for his creative mind and his ability to spot talent. He was also noted for his sense of timing. Lex Luger’s memorable win over Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Title was an idea broached by Hall to Nash and then later to Eric Bischoff. Hogan was in the middle of a long title reign en route to a Starrcade match with Sting, but Luger was a hot babyface with rousing fan support. His upset win over Hogan was one of the most memorable moments in the history of the show.
When Sting began his character transformation, it was Hall who suggested he go with the look of The Crow, the comic book anti-hero who had been played memorably by the late Brandon Lee in a popular movie. The character was a massive hit and became a favorite of kids everywhere. Sting’s look remained a popular Halloween costume for years. Through 1996 and 1997 Sting was the most popular babyface in wrestling based on the look.
Razor Ramon and the 1-2-3 Kid
Hall’s penchant for noticing young wrestlers led him to putting over Sean Waltman in the WWF in the early 1990s when Waltman upset Hall as Razor Ramon. The loss led to Ramon’s face turn. Hall, on a whim, jobbed to Chris Jericho on WCW live TV when Jericho was on his epic heel run in WCW. He also put over Hiroshi Tanahashi in 2001 in the New Japan G1, commenting that Tanahashi was “money” nearly a decade before Tanahashi became the biggest star in Japan and rescued Japanese wrestling.
Addiction issues kept Hall from becoming a bigger part of the creative teams in wrestling companies. Nash was eventually made booker for WCW, a job that would have likely gone to Hall if his health had been better.
A military kid, Hall once said the pro wrestling life wasn’t much different than his youth, when he moved regularly. He started his wrestling career in Florida with Dusty Rhodes. His first breakout was with the American Wrestling Association when he held the AWA tag team titles with Curt Hennig. Hall was extremely green at the time, but was already showing effusive charisma while Hennig was beginning to come into his own as a talent. Hall once said his time with Hennig in the AWA was why he made it in the business.
Curt Hennig and Scott Hall in the AWA
Hall had several start-stop programs in WCW and elsewhere. He debuted as the Diamond Studd as part of a stable with Diamond Dallas Page. The character was a dramatic turn for Hall, who was often given a Cowboy or Magnum TA style gimmick because of his look. He wrestled in the WCW mid-card for a period before being signed by the WWF.
Hall returned to the WWF in 2001 after the failure of the WCW Invasion angle. Nash, Hall and Hogan immediately became lightning rods in the WWF. The WWF’s version of the NWO was watered down and lacked little of the creativity spontaneity that made the angle so memorable and impactful in WCW. Hall’s peak during that brief run was working Steve Austin at Wrestlemania in a very solid match that was one of the best he had in the later stages of his career.
Wrestling lost one of the most influential people in the history of the business with the passing of Scott Hall. The original bad guy was taken off life support on Monday afternoon and he passed away later in the day. The wrestling world has poured out tributes for the late legend since the news broke out. Hulk Hogan, who lived many of Hall’s career highlights beside him, also paid an emotional tribute to his friend.
The Hulkster gave a speech at his Hogan’s Hangout bar in Tampa, Florida. He mentioned how Hall took care of him and taught him how to be a bad guy. When everyone thought Hulkamania was dead, it was Hall who resurrected him. Hulk claimed that he has nothing but love for his nWo teammate:
“Hey yo. Thank you guys for being here. A short while ago, a good friend of mine just passed away. Scott Hall. So in Jesus name I pray, thank you God for taking care of my brother.” said Hulk Hogan, “He took care of me when I was down and out and everyone thought Hulkamania was dead. Scott Hall resurrected me, he put me back on the map. I love him so much I can’t even explain it to you.
Hogan continued, “He had a bunch of faults but he was a good guy. I just wanna everyone know here that he’s in our thoughts and prayers tonight. He just passed. I had a real hard time getting my act together and getting over here. Bad times don’t last but bad guys do. For the original bad guy that took Hulk Hogan and taught Hollywood how to be a bad guy. I got nothing but love 4 life, brother.”

Kevin Owens Responded To Stone Cold Steve Austin
Kevin Owens kicked off RAW this week and began his promo by saying “hey, yo”. Owens recently challenged Stone Cold Steve Austin to appear at WrestleMania 38 and Austin accepted. Owens poked some more fun at Texas before turning his attention to Stone Cold.
Kevin noted that Austin said he was going to open a can of whoop ass on him at WrestleMania. He claimed that wasn’t going to happen and that he will be opening a can of Canadian beer to celebrate kicking Austin’s ass. Owens claimed that everyone will be chanting “oh hell no!” instead of “oh hell yeah!” as he beats the crap out of Austin at WrestleMania. Kevin closed the promo by saying “and that is the bottom line…” before hitting the camera man with a Stunner.
Finn Balor faced Damian Priest in the first match of the night. Austin Theory joined commentary for the match and discussed his match against SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee at WrestleMania. Priest took control of the match and hit Balor with the Razor’s Edge to honor the late Scott Hall as RAW went to a break.
When RAW returned, Priest grabbed Balor by the throat and went for a Chokeslam but Finn was able to escape. Balor hit a Double Stomp to the ribs and followed it up with a Slingblade. Finn connected with a Dropkick and made his way to the top rope but Austin Theory distracted him.
Damian tried to capitalize but Balor caught him with an Enziguri. Finn then absolutely leveled Austin Theory with a Dropkick and sent him flying into the barricade. Balor then got in the ring but Damian was ready for him and hit the Reckoning for the pinfall victory. After the match, Austin Theory attacked Balor and hit him with the ATL before posing for a selfie with him.
Seth Rollins Wants To Interview Austin At WrestleMania
Seth Rollins was interviewed backstage about not having anything to do at WrestleMania. Rollins stood in silence and didn’t answer as a “Cody!” chant could be heard in the background.
Kevin Owens then approached Seth Rollins backstage and suggested that he needs to come up with something. Owens noted that he got onto WrestleMania by making an idea up and he’s not The Visionary like Rollins. Seth then got a big smile on his face and scampered away.
Seth Rollins danced his way down the entrance ramp and made his way to the ring to begin the 2nd hour of RAW. Rollins said he has a plan to get himself to WrestleMania and asked that Kevin Owens come to the ring. Seth stated that he should have a talk show too at WrestleMania and suggested that he have Steve Austin. Owens pointed out how that is crazy and the two started arguing. Sonya Deville interrupted and announced that Rollins will face Kevin Owens later tonight. The winner will get the Stone Cold talk show segment at WrestleMania.
Commander Azeez squared off against Omos tonight and Apollo Crews was ringside for the match. The two giants locked up in the middle of the ring and got into a shoving match to start off the action. Omos hit a shoulder tackle and Azeez rolled out of the ring.
Azeez went to get back into the ring but Omos hit him with a Clothesline. Commander Azeez eventually got back into the ring and hit some strikes in the corner of the ring. Omos showed off his power and got Azeez up for a Suplex and then the Chokeslam Bomb for the pinfall victory. After the match, Omos dragged Apollo Crews into the ring by his head and planted him with a Choke Bomb as well.
Liv Morgan faced Queen Zelina tonight on RAW. Rhea Ripley and Carmella were ringside for the match. Zelina got Morgan in a submission hold to start off the match in the middle of the ring. Liv battled back and rolled Zelina around the ring several times.
Carmella hopped on the ring apron for a distraction and Zelina hit a Belly to Back Suplex off the middle turnbuckle for a near fall. Rhea Ripley chased Carmella around the ring before she hid on Corey Grave’s lap. Back in the ring, Liv hit Oblivion for the pinfall victory.
Rey & Dominik faced Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin. Before the match, Kevin Owens spoke with Sonya Deville and complained about having to face Rollins tonight. Logan Paul and The Miz then made their way to the announce table for the match. Dominik and Shelton started off the match back and forth. Dominik went for the 619 but Benjamin blocked it. Cedric tagged in and hit a Clothesline for a two count.
Rey got the tag and beat Cedric down in the corner of the ring. Mysterio hit a Tornado DDT for a near fall and set him up for the 619. Dominik sent Benjamin out of the ring and the Mysterios hit a double 619 on Alexander. Dominik climbed to the top turnbuckle and taunted Miz & Logan Paul before hitting a Splash for the pinfall victory.
After the match, Miz and Logan Paul tried for an attack but the Mysterios battled back. Dominik and Rey circled Logan Paul but Miz dragged him out of the ring. Miz and Logan Paul retreated to end the segment.
Edge cut another promo with the blue lighting this week and had new entrance music. He referred to himself as the “benchmark of WWE” and claimed to be better than everyone. Edge told the fans that they do not matter to him and threw in a shot at Roman Reigns by referring to the Universal Champion as an Aquaman cosplayer. He claimed that the Edge that lost to Reigns, Randy Orton, and Seth Rollins is dead and that he now sits on the top of the mountain of omnipotence and looks down on everybody. Edge noted that he and AJ are generational talents and that he will be judging Styles at WrestleMania.
Bianca Belair faced Doudrop this week on RAW. Before the match, Belair was interviewed backstage and noted that her long hair is an advantage at WrestleMania against Becky Lynch. Belair boasted about Lynch not being on RAW last week because of the hair whips and added that she will give Lynch a WrestleMania preview tonight in her match against Doudrop.
Doudrop controlled the match early and went for a Senton but Bianca got out of the way at the last moment. Belair connected with the springboard Moonsault and set up for KOD but couldn’t lift up Doudrop. The action spilled out of the ring and Doudrop missed with a Cannonball and crashed into the barricade.
Back in the ring, Doudrop took back control before missing another Cannonball in the corner this time. Bianca capitalized with a Dropkick and followed it up with a Spinebuster. Belair was then able to get Doudrop up for the KOD for the pinfall victory.
After the match, RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch showed up and attacked Belair. Lynch launched Bianca into the steel steps and followed it up with a slam on the announce table. Becky put Bianca’s head in a steel chair and yanked her hair around the ring post. Bianca went crashing into the post and Lynch exited with a grin on her face.
RK-Bro had a celebration for becoming the RAW Tag Team Champions again and had a bunch of balloons in the ring. Orton noted that WrestleMania 38 will be his 18th and that he’s never been a tag team champion heading into the event. Randy said he organized the celebration but wasn’t as good at Riddle at things like this. Riddle said this was the best night of his career.
Orton told Riddle that he had a gift for him and began looking when the Street Profits interrupted. Ford and Dawkins reminded the champs that they have pinned them recently and challenged them to a title match at WrestleMania. Randy understandably ranted about the quiz shows and all the stuff RK-Bro had to do to get a rematch for the titles and didn’t want to just give a title shot away.
Randy declined the offer but did ask if Street Profits wanted some snacks. Street Profits got annoyed and Montez Ford pretty much demanded the match be made official. Orton told Montez that he was about to start listening to the voices in his head and make the Street Profits leave. Riddle pulled Orton aside and said that they do in fact need opponents for WrestleMania. Orton then planted Montez with an RKO before RAW went to a break.
Montez Ford and Riddle then had a singles match with Dawkins & Orton ringside. Riddle hit a Gutwrench Slam for a near fall and followed it up with a Fisherman’s Suplex. Ford kicked out and leveled Riddle with a Dropkick. Back from a break, Riddle hit a Powerslam and then an RKO of his own. Otis attacked Orton ringside and launched Randy into the barricade. Gable joined in on the attack and sent Angelo Dawkins into the ring post. Otis attacked Riddle to end the match in a DQ. Gable & Otis then beat RK-Bro and Street Profits down.
Seth Rollins Still Has Nothing To Do At WrestleMania
Kevin Owens faced Seth Rollins in this week’s main event. The winner of the match will get to interview Stone Cold at WrestleMania. Rollins tried to steal the win early with a roll-up but Kevin kicked out at one. Owens went for the Stunner but Rollins was able to block it.
The action spilled out of the ring and Owens focused his attack on Seth’s knee. Owens bashed the knee into the barricade a couple times before applying a Calf Slicer in the middle of the ring. Rollins was able to escape but Owens stayed on him and slammed the injured knee into the canvas several times. Seth knocked Owens back out of the ring and went for his Suicide Dive but Owens caught him and countered into a Fallaway Slam into the barricade as RAW went to a commercial break.
When RAW returned, Seth Rollins took back control and connected with a Frog Splash for a near fall. Rollins and Owens battled on the turnbuckle and Seth went for a Superplex. Owens countered into a Brainbuster for a two count and quickly climbed back up to the top rope. Kevin went for a Senton but Rollins was able to get his knees up at the last moment.
Owens got back up and leveled Seth with a Clothesline. Owens went for a Stunner but Rollins shoved him away. The referee fell out of the ring and missed Rollins roll-up attempt. Seth was pissed and it allowed Owens to recover. Owens hit Seth with a Stunner for the pinfall victory. Owens will still have his KO segment with Stone Cold at WrestleMania and Rollins is still looking for a way onto the biggest show of the year.
