Brock Lesnar Returns At WWE SummerSlam, Confronts Roman Reigns

0

Brock Lesnar finally made his WWE return after being away for over a year.

It happened at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event on Saturday night from Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium after Roman Reigns had successfully retained the WWE Universal Title over John Cena in the main event.

Lesnar, with a beard and new hairstyle, walked down to the ring as fans went nuts. He had a staredown with Reigns, who backed down and went to the backstage area with Paul Heyman at his side.

After the show went off the air, Lesnar went on the attack and beat down Cena, who checked right into suplex city.

Lesnar was last seen when he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36. Lesnar’s contract with WWE expired last August when the two sides didn’t come to terms on a new deal. This led to Lesnar’s merchandise being removed from the WWE Shop.

Back in June, it was originally reported WWE had plans in place for him and was hopeful his return could be imminent. That didn’t happen.

WWE didn’t have plans to book Lesnar against WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event on Saturday, August 21 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada despite speculation and that ended up happening.

Roman Reigns Beats John Cena At WWE SummerSlam

0

WWE booked one of if not the biggest match possible for the main event of SummerSlam as John Cena challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Title.

The match had a slow start with a lot of mind games going on. Reigns beat Cena down for the majority of the match with Cena getting small parts of offense in. Cena with an AA for a near fall. Cena with the STF, but Reigns got to the bottom rope. Cena later hit an AA through the announce table.

Cena with an AA off the middle rope for a near fall. Reigns hit the spear for the win. Post-match, Brock Lesnar made his return.

Before this feud, Cena hadn’t been on WWE television since WrestleMania 36 where he took part in the Firefly Fun House match against Bray Wyatt. It was a trip down memory lane for Cena.

It wasn’t a normal match, but rather a series of segments where he went through all of his old gimmicks. The finish saw Wyatt hit Sister Abigail to Cena then choked him out with the Mandible Claw to end the match.

Cena has continued his Hollywood career while being away from WWE. He started serving as the host of TBS’ Wipeout series, filmed the second Suicide Squad movie, the Peacemaker series, and starred in the most recent Fast & Furious movie, F9.

Cena made his return at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena where he told Reigns that he couldn’t see him. After weeks of Reigns declining Cena’s challenge for a match, “The Big Dog” finally granted it.

Bobby Lashley Defeats Goldberg At WWE SummerSlam

0

WWE didn’t give the fans Brock Lesnar, but they did bring back Goldberg to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Title in one of the top matches at SummerSlam.

The match, which took place in the co-main event of the show that was held from Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium on Peacock, was short as expected. Goldberg sold his knee throughout the match and that played a factor in the finish. In the end, Goldberg couldn’t stand so the referee called for the bell. After the match, Lashley hit Goldberg with a chair. Goldberg’s son tried to make the save, but he got put into the full nelson.

Goldberg made his return on the July 19th episode of WWE Raw to tell Lashley that he was next. While Lashley was ready to go, MVP wasn’t ready to give in just yet. That later changed and the match was booked.

Many fans thought Lesnar would be the right person to face Lashley at this show, but it’s been reported that WWE wanted to save Lesnar’s return for a WrestleMania match with Roman Reigns.

Charlotte Flair Wins Raw Women’s Title At WWE SummerSlam

0

Nikki A.S.H vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley for the Raw Women’s Title in a triple threat match was booked at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium.

In the match, Flair had a strong showing. She hit an outside dive off the top rope. Nikki looked like she could put it away with a DDT to Ripley, but Ripley rolled to the floor. The finish came down to when Nikki missed a crossbody and Flair locked in the Figure Eight for the win.

This marks Charlotte Flair’s 6th reign as Raw Women’s Champion. She’s also a 5-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, a 2-time NXT Women’s Champion and was the final WWE Divas Champion.

WWE posted this video of Charlotte Flair reacting to her win at SummerSlam:

Raw Women’s Championship

Since Ripley beat Asuka to win the title in April at WrestleMania, she has been feuding with Charlotte Flair. Flair’s previous reign lasted just one day after beating Ripley for it at Money in the Bank.

Nikki A.S.H. became Raw Women’s Champion by cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Charlotte. She won the briefcase in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in July.

The following night, Ripley and Flair faced off in a rematch on Raw, but Charlotte intentionally got herself disqualified. Post-match, Ripley hit Riptide on Charlotte outside of the ring, which allowed Nikki to cash in her briefcase. She hit a top rope crossbody on Charlotte, and pinned her to win the Raw Women’s Championship.

Becky Lynch Returns To Win WWE SmackDown Women’s Title At SummerSlam

0

The rematch of the WrestleMania 37 night one main event between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Title didn’t take place at SummerSlam. However, fans did get to see Becky Lynch make her return at SummerSlam in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium.

WWE announced that Sasha Banks was not cleared to compete. She was replaced by Carmella, who just lost to Belair on Friday’s SmackDown. Belair cut a promo about how eventually she will get Banks and until then, she would beat Carmella. This led to Becky Lynch returning.

Lynch attacked Carmella and the match started after Lynch challenged Belair. Lynch punched Belair and hit a power slam for the win to win the title.

WWE posted this video of Becky Lynch reacting to her surprise return at SummerSlam:

There had been conflicting reports about the status of Banks vs. Belair for over the last week as both stars missed last weekend’s house shows for an unknown reason. It was reported that both stars were cleared for SummerSlam, but Banks wasn’t featured on Friday’s SmackDown.

Lynch had been away from WWE due to her being pregnant with her first child last year. She vacated the title. There had been reports that WWE could add a Bayley talk segment to WrestleMania 37 as it had been discussed when an idea of Lynch driving a big truck was brought up for her return.

It was later reported that the reason Lynch didn’t return at WrestleMania was due to her not being ready at the time.

The Usos Retain SmackDown Tag Team Titles At WWE SummerSlam

0

The Mysterios got their SmackDown Tag Team Title rematch at Saturday’s (August 21, 2021) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio challenged The Usos for the straps in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium on Peacock. The match featured the heels dominating after a quick start from the challengers. Dominik sold for a few minutes until his father go the hot tag. The finish saw The Usos hit double superkicks to Rey then a splash by Jey for the win.

This came after The Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team Titles by defeating The Mysterios on the pre-show last month in Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena.

The finish of that match saw Jimmy rolling up Rey while Jey used his feet to give his brother extra leverage. Two weeks later, Jey did the same thing to help Jimmy defeat Dominik in a singles match. The following week, The Mysterios then returned the favor when Dominik helped Rey defeat Jimmy.

The Mysterio’s won the titles from Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode back in May at the WWE WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view event, which marked the first time that a father and son had held the straps together in WWE.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in September.

Damian Priest Wins WWE United States Title At SummerSlam

0

Sheamus put the WWE United States Championship on the line when he faced off with Damian Priest at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium.

Priest with an outside dive and he landed bad on his hip. He clearly was in pain, which is not great considering he had a back injury earlier this year. Priest with the heel kick then hit his finisher for the win.

WWE set up this match on the August 9th edition of Raw when Sheamus accepted a challenge from Priest. Last month, Priest was set up as the next challenger for the title when he defeated Sheamus in a non-title match.

On the August 9th Raw, Sheamus and Priest both picked up wins as Sheamus defeated Ricochet in a non-title match, while Priest defeated John Morrison.  Heading into the match, Sheamus vowed to put Priest in his place.

Sheamus has been United States Champion since winning the title from Riddle at WrestleMania 37 this April.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in September.

Randy Orton & Matt Riddle Win WWE Raw Tag Team Titles

0

AJ Styles and Omos put the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships on the line in a match against Randy Orton and Matt Riddle at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event

The match opened the show. The finish saw Styles get out of a roll up and Orton hit the RKO for the win. Thus, we have new champions.

Orton had been off TV for several weeks before making his return on the August 9th edition of WWE Raw. It was reported that the reason he had been off TV was due to him being placed on the disabled/inactive list, but there were no issues between Orton and the company.

Before his hiatus, the future WWE Hall of Famer was last seen in action on the June 21st episode of Raw where he lost to John Morrison in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. He was later advertised for the last chance qualifying match, but Riddle ended up replacing him in the match.

It was said that WWE did have creative plans for Orton and Riddle through SummerSlam, but “the unforeseen circumstances of Orton’s absence required an audible be called.” Once Orton returned, he was put into the feud with Styles and Omos.

Sasha Banks ‘officially’ off WWE SummerSlam PPV

0

WWE SmackDown Superstar Sasha Banks has reportedly been pulled from the SummerSlam 2021 card this evening.

The company were still promoting her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match on the pre-show to the event, however WrestlingINC confirmed in the past few minutes that the former Champion would not be on the show tonight.

There had been rumors of WWE having to cancel the match earlier this week, however reports indicated that both women had been cleared to compete inside of Allegiant Stadium tonight.

Sasha Banks pulled from SummerSlam

It is not currently confirmed exactly why Banks is unable to compete on tonight’s show, however attention now turns to Bianca Belair and how WWE will address this situation on the PPV itself.

There have been rumors of Becky Lynch making her return to the company shortly, and with Sasha Banks unable to appear WWE may well pull the trigger and have ‘The Man’ return tonight as a make-good for fans.

We hope to update on the status of Banks as and when the information is available, keep checking back for more as the news comes through.

Bray Wyatt Expected To Sign With AEW (Report)

0

Bryan Danielson and CM Punk are not the only ex-WWE stars expected in AEW in the near future as Bray Wyatt is headed to the promotion.

During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported Bray Wyatt is expected to sign with the company. The former WWE Champion is still bound by a non-compete, so he can’t legally sign anything with AEW just yet.

Meltzer noted that pen hasn’t been put to paper, but the expectation is strong. Wyatt was released by WWE on July 31 due to budget cuts after being out of action since WrestleMania 37 where he lost to Randy Orton thanks to Alexa Bliss.

The former Universal Champion had been expected to make his return to in-ring action in WWE and WWE even had plans for him to return this month to the point where he was being advertised for shows. However, a decision was made to let him go.

It’s been reported that Wyatt is healthy and cleared to wrestle. The issues that kept him out of the ring for months had nothing to do with mental health.

Although there’s no word on creative plans for Wyatt, there’s a lot of speculation that he could be the one to take over The Dark Order as he was very good friends with the late great Brodie Lee.

Big E Says AJ Lee Could Have a ‘Brock Lesnar Schedule’ If She Returned To WWE

0

AJ Lee is one of the most significant figures in professional wrestling over the past decade. The former Divas Champion was an unlikely success story at a time when WWE was still fixated on bikini babes and fitness models.

AJ Lee is credited with kickstarting WWE’s Women’s Revolution. She paved the way for the likes of Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Bayley. She hung up her boots in 2015, but some fans are optimistic she’ll grace the squared circle again one day.

Following CM Punk’s blockbuster appearance at AEW’s First Dance event, there is renewed discussion about her future.

Big E spoke Sportskeeda this week to promote SummerSlam. He told Riju Dasgupta WWE would roll out the red carpet for AJ Lee, if she were interested in a return.

Big E on AJ Lee Back in WWE

Big E thinks AJ Lee was so successful during her initial run that WWE would let her work a “Brock Lesnar” schedule (big money for limited dates).

“I also think, if she wants it, of course, there very easily is a massive place for her,” he said. “I feel like she’s in this legend territory where she comes back and she gets a massive pop. She can have a Brock Lesnar type schedule if she wanted to and work a few times a year. So, if it’s something she wants, of course there’s a place for her.”

AJ Lee and Big E had undeniable chemistry when he served as her on-air bodyguard around 2012-2013. They were feature players during an era that is looked back upon fondly. We don’t know if AJ Lee has any interest in returning to wrestling. However, with her husband signing with AEW, it seems unlikely she’d return to the environment that drove him away for seven long years.

Tony Khan Addressed Live Crowd Before AEW The First Dance (Video)

0

Last night’s AEW The First Dance show from a sold-out United Center in Chicago was the biggest moment in the young promotion’s history. Tony Khan spoke to the live crowd before the event began. His excitement for what was to come that night was clear.

“Thank you so much. I’ve always dreamed of doing a wrestling show here,” Khan began. “I’ve always dreamed of bringing wrestling here but I always wanted it to be the biggest, greatest night imaginable. And tonight, I promise you, we’re bringing you something very special tonight at the First Dance!”

The crowd then erupted into a CM Punk chant. Khan gets a little emotional as he continues his speech.

“It’s almost time for Rampage, everyone. We’re going to have a great night tonight. I appreciate every single one of you for being here, I appreciate you putting your faith in AEW, I appreciate you trusting us. Thank you for believing in AEW! You fans will be rewarded tonight. Thank you, Chicago! I love you!”

CM Punk returning to pro-wrestling after more than 7.5 years away would take place shortly after Khan’s speech. Punk confirmed that he signed with the promotion and will be facing Darby Allin at All Out on September 5th.

Khan’s speech can be heard in the player below:

Big E: People Don’t Give Roman Reigns Enough Credit

0

Big E believes that WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns deserves more credit than he gets.

The Reigns character has been a polarizing figure in WWE for many years. Many fans believe that WWE tried to shove Reigns down their throats despite constant pushback. Over the past year, however, he has turned a corner with the naysayers thanks to his “Tribal Chief” gimmick.

Big E told News 18 that he believes Reigns should be getting more props for his contributions to the wrestling industry.

“There is a lot of work that he has done to solidify being that guy a lot of people didn’t give him credit for. People do not give him enough credit him either for what he has done in-ring and his in-ring abilities. He is an excellent pro-wrestler he is excellent at his craft and he has so many excellent matches under his belt, so, I have a ton of respect for what he has done.

“I think growing up in the business, he has always had leg up but that’s not to discredit the work he has done. I am not saying he has been handed things. I have seen him work hard. In FCW, in those days he came in just like us. But you can say he got it right away. He has a certain charisma; he has a certain presence that a lot of people didn’t have that earlier, so, we always knew he was going to be someone.

“So, I have got nothing but a good thing to say about what he has done with his career and the amount of work he has put in to deserve it because it is easier to sit on the sideline and say that should be my spot but you haven’t done that work that he has done.”

Reigns is set to headline SummerSlam tonight (Aug. 21). He’ll defend the WWE Universal Championship against John Cena. Reigns says if he loses, he will leave WWE. The action will be held inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As for Big E, he is the Money in the Bank briefcase holder. As of this writing, he doesn’t have a match for SummerSlam but he has become involved in a feud with Baron Corbin, who stole his briefcase. Time will tell if he has an impromptu match with Corbin or a segment to get his briefcase back and potentially cash in.

CM Punk Compares AEW Debut To MITB Title Win: “This One Did Not Feel Like A Job”

0

The storyline leading up to his WWE title win at the Money In The Bank event in 2011 was a highlight of CM Punk’s career with the wrestling promotion.

The former WWE champion was asked to compare his Money In The Bank moment to his pro wrestling return last night on Rampage during the post-show media scrum.

Replying to the question, Punk claimed that the AEW moment felt more organic. According to him, everything he did prior to it felt like a fight while his appearance on Rampage ‘did not feel like a job’:

“This felt more organic. Everything I ever did prior to being here felt like a fight, and it kinda squeezed the life out of some stuff. This was a joyful moment that was just—it didn’t need to get overproduced,

It didn’t need everybody’s input, it needed a few select people’s input and just an understanding that it’s pro wrestling, you know? You don’t need to slick it up and lacquer it, shine it up too much, it needed to be real.” said CM Punk, “So, to compare the two moments, this one did not feel like a job.”

During the talk, the former WWE star also revealed that he had been talking to AEW officials and Tony Khan for almost 18 months prior to joining the promotion.

Punk explained why he didn’t sign with the company immediately and why it took him so long to make the decision. You can check out his comments on the matter here.

Warner Media Considering Ideas For CM Punk Beyond AEW (Report)

0

CM Punk debuted with All Elite Wrestling last night at The First Dance in Chicago’s United Center. At a post-event media scrum, only a few details were given regarding Punk’s contract with the promotion. Tony Khan and Punk stated that the deal is not “short term” nor is it “part-time.”

According to a report from PW Insider, however, Punk’s deal with AEW will still allow him to take acting roles and work commentary for MMA promotions. Executives with Warner are also said to be considering other ideas for Punk beyond AEW.

“Punk’s deal will allow him to still pursue acting and commentary for MMA and other opportunities, wrote Mike Johnson.

The report continued to say that executives at TNT are very happy about Punk joining AEW. There is talk that Punk could be involved in projects with Warner Media that extend beyond AEW. Punk is a particularly big NHL fan and Warner Media signed a rights deal with the league earlier this spring.

“We are told that it’s being seen within TNT that Punk has joined ‘their team’ and they are considering potential ideas for him beyond AEW.”

During last night’s broadcast, it was revealed that Punk will be on Dynamite next week from Milwaukee. His first match back will be against Darby Allin at All Out. Punk will be regularly appearing on AEW programming as part of his contract with the promotion.

“We are told he’ll be regularly appearing on AEW programming as needed to build to big matches,” Johnson continued.

Triple H Comments On Potential In-Ring Return

0

Triple H recently took part in a live taping of the Herd with Colin Cowherd. During the discussion, he spoke about potentially making an in-ring return.

“If people want it, if it’s the right thing, it has got to be intriguing,” Triple H said (transcriptions via Fightful). “At this point, with as busy as everybody is in WWE from the business side, for me to get ready for WrestleMania, at my age, it’s not something to enter into casually.”

It’s been over 2 years at this point since Triple H wrestled. His last match was on June 29th, 2019. He teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura on a house show in Japan and defeated the team of Robert Roode and Samoa Joe.

“I’d have to train a lot, a couple times a day for three months or so to get ready for that,” he continued. “In-ring training and everything. I’ve already torn most of everything off my body so I want to make sure I’m not ready to do that again. The training would be the tough part with the schedule, but if it was something people wanted and it was intriguing to me, I would love to do it.”

Triple H continued to say that he’d love to do another big WrestleMania match. He’d also like to do a final tour and wrestle matches in cities that he has a long history with, however.

“If I was to do something like that before I called it a day, go to the Garden again. Go to Japan. Go to different countries and have that one more match. Step into those cities where you have 25+ years of memories and opponents and to be able to go out there and do it again in front of them one more time.”

The 52-year-old has had as complete a career as anyone ever has in wrestling. He is a 9x WWE Champion, 5x World Heavyweight Champion, 2x Royal Rumble winner, 1x King of the Ring, 3x tag team champion, 5x Intercontinental Champion, and 2x European Champion in WWE.

CM Punk Credits Renee Paquette For Wrestling Return, Paquette Responds

0

CM Punk revealed during the post-Rampage media scrum that he had been talking to AEW president Tony Khan for over 18 months before finally agreeing to make his pro wrestling return for the promotion. This raised the question as to what made the former WWE champion change his mind.

Punk was asked if he was waiting for AEW to prove themselves before making the decision later in the session. Replying to the question, the former WWE star claimed that it wasn’t about AEW proving themself and more about the two parties getting familiar with each other:

“I mean who am I? Nobody has to prove anything to me. It wasn’t about them having to prove anything to me. It was about me being open to the idea. And then it wasn’t gonna be ‘well I am gonna jump into the pool right away’, I had to dip my toe in and see how things are gonna be.”

Punk went on to credit Renee Paquette for bringing him back into the wrestling fold with the WWE backstage gig, saying that it opened his eyes:

“Actually, this is all Renee Paquette’s fault honestly.  She is the one who got me to come back to do the backstage thing and it opened my eyes to like ‘okay, this is fun, she is a good person. I like working with good people’. That’s really all it was, nobody had to prove anything to me. But I did take a wait-and-see approach. And I waited and I liked what I saw.”

Paquette later replied to these comments from him on Twitter. She posted a GIF in reply to Punk’s comments, saying ‘you are welcome’:

CM Punk made his triumphant return to pro wrestling last night on Rampage. He has already set up his first match in over 7 years and has been announced for this Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Charlotte Flair On Taking Time Off From WWE To Attend TripleMania

Flair also spoke about Andrade El Idolo and her father Ric Flair at TripleMania during the interview. Charlotte says that she booked the date off months ago so that she could be in Mexico to support Andrade.

“I actually took off 2.5 months ago from live events and if you know me, I haven’t asked off a live event….actually, I’ve never asked off a live event,” Flair said.

Charlotte continued to say that when her father departed from WWE, she asked him to walk Andrade to the ring at TripleMania.

“With my Dad being gone, I asked him on Wednesday, I was like ‘hey, what are you doing this weekend?’ He’s like ‘nothing honey, why?’ ‘Do you want to go to Mexico?'”

According to Charlotte, Ric was very excited and wanted to have a matching white suit made for the show but there was not enough time.

CM Punk: “My Legacy Is To Help Young Guys The Way Harley Race Helped Me”

0

CM Punk returned to a pro-wrestling for the first time in over 7.5 years last night at The First Dance. During the post-event media scrum, Punk talked about what his goals are in AEW. Punk said he’s going to help the young stars in AEW the way guys like Harley Race, Terry Funk, Eddie Guerrero, and Tracy Smothers helped him.

“Going forward, I think my legacy is to help out the young guys the way Harley Race helped me, the way Terry Funk helped me, the way Eddie Guerrero helped me. Tracy Smothers,” Punk said (transcriptions via ESPN’s Marc Raimondi).

Punk also mentioned some of the young or newer talent he’s hoping to work with. He also mentioned names like Jon Moxley, who he hasn’t had the chance to work with yet.

“I get excited about the prosect of me working with Pillman, Hobbs, Ricky Starks, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin. Jon Moxley – never worked with a Jon Moxley before,” Punk said.

Punk also noted that he’s never wrestled the Young Bucks or been in a ring with Kenny Omega before. The Straight Edge Superstar also pointed out that there could be other wrestlers on their way to AEW that he’d like to work with as well.

“I’ve never done anything with the Young Bucks. I’ve never stepped in the ring with Kenny Omega. … And who knows who else is coming,” Punk continued.

CM Punk Confirmed For First Dynamite Appearance This Wednesday

0

CM Punk confirmed in the post-media scrum after his big return on AEW Rampage last night that he has signed a full-time contract with the company.

As a testament to his commitment to the promotion, the former WWE star has already been announced for his first Dynamite appearance.

AEW confirmed on Twitter that Punk will be appearing on this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite from UWM Panther Arena in Milwaukee:

CM Punk retired from active competition after walking out of WWE in 2014. Rumors about his return had been heard from time to time since then but none of them led anywhere.

It was then reported last month that the Straight Edge star has finally agreed to make his return for All Elite Wrestling and he will be making his comeback very soon.

The wrestling world had been buzzing with anticipation since then and things exploded when Punk finally made his first wrestling appearance in 7 years at last night’s Rampage from Chicago.

The former WWE star has been a trending topic on all social platforms since his appearance. His return to pro wrestling seems to be the only topic of discussion among wrestling fans.

Punk has already confirmed his debut match for Dynamite by challenging Darby Allin during his promo on the show. Now it would be interesting to see if we get a confrontation between the two this Wednesday night.

AEW And WWE Stars React To CM Punk’s Return

0

CM Punk made his triumphant return to pro wrestling at last night’s The First Dance edition of Rampage. Fans welcomed him back with open hands.

The former WWE champion’s comeback seemed to be the only topic of discussion among fans on social sites. Though fans weren’t the only ones who were reacting to the massive development.

Many wrestling personalities also took their social media to react to Punk’s comeback. Several AEW stars posted photos with the Straight Edge star while WWE stars just reacted by expressing how the moment made them feel:

The former WWE star not only talked about his absence and return during his promo on Rampage, but he also laid out the challenge for his debut match for AEW.

Punk challenged Darby Allin for a match at the upcoming All Out PPV. The former TNT champion accepted it after the show went off air and he claimed that wrestling Punk will be an honor.

While the returning star did not reveal the length of his contract with AEW, he did confirm that he has signed a full time deal with Tony Khan’s promotion.

This means we are going to be seeing a lot more of CM Punk in coming times, starting with the upcoming episode of Dynamite which Punk has already been announced for.

Bray Wyatt Teases a Return to Wrestling With New Cryptic Tweet

0

WWE has released a lot of superstars this year. Real superstars, not wrestlers given that moniker due to needing a superlative to complete a sentence. Bray Wyatt was arguably the biggest and most surprising name to be given the chop.

Everybody knew about the sudden creative drought surrounding the Fiend character. However, for a fighter as determined, committed and creative as Bray Wyatt, his release was certainly a shock.

Not even a month ago, it seems like it has been forever since the news broke. While there is an undeniable irony to his no-compete clause expiring on October 31st, there were many rumours abounding that Bray Wyatt might leave his boots in the ring and pursue other ventures. Acting being a main role linked to the star.

However, in another recent and cryptic tweet – something of a speciality for the man – it looks as if fans can rest assured, they will see him back between the ropes.

Bray Wyatt has Been Quiet but Said so Much

Bray Wyatt is a man who knows how to create a character. He is more than capable of putting on a show and building the interest around himself. Now that he is free from the shackles of WWE creative control, he can explore to his fullest.

“Rock Stars come and go. Musicians play until they die.”

– Bray Wyatt / Van Halen

The words may be borrowed from Van Halen, but many fans are taking this to be Wyatt’s way of committing to a life in the ring. The only real question that remains is what he will do, and where he will go to do it.

Wyatt’s only other tweet since his release was an equally mysterious one teasing at a new mask and a new direction for his Fiend character.

Whatever happens, one thing is for sure, Bray Wyatt is going to be a force to be reckoned with when he gets back into the ring.

Goldberg On If He Is Proud of His Recent WWE Performances “Hell No”

When it comes to dominance in professional wrestling, it is hard to think much beyond Goldberg. In his prime he was untouchable. His streak ran for 173 matches. His opponents rarely survived more than a few minutes in the ring with him.

Alas, age catches up with even the most lionhearted souls. Now, at aged 54, Goldberg realizes he is getting towards the end. However, a warrior’s spirit never dies. Talking in a recent interview with AP news, he spoke openly and candidly about his performances in the ring over recent years.

Referencing the way people have reacted to John Cena’s return and the comments that he still has that same ability hit home for Goldberg.

“I guess Roman made mention of Cena coming back and being the same guy,” he said. “Well, that’s what people pay for. That’s why they bring him back because he’s the same guy. Yeah, you have to evolve a little bit.”

“But people want to see me go out and smash dudes. That’s what made me who I am.”

Goldberg Understands the Expectations He Built for Himself in the Ring

There are quite some years between Goldberg and John Cena. Age is a fickle mistress and the former WWE champion knows isn’t the same man he was back then. However, he accepts he needs to do better. For himself, and for the fans.

“I’m not proud of anything I’ve done over the past number of years,” he said. “Have I done enough to get by? Yeah. But am I proud of my performances? Hell no. No. 1, I’ve got to win. No. 2, I’ve got to provide a little bit more entertainment, more power moves and just be more like Goldberg. That’s what you’re going to see on Saturday.”

While many wrestling fans may clamor they want more from a match, they need to understand that Goldberg is not your average wrestler. His gimmick, his character is defined by what he does in the ring. He hits big moves, and he tears guys apart.

It sounds as if Goldberg is more than fired up for his match this weekend at Summerslam. Whether he wins the title or not, it will be about leaving behind a memory that he can look back on without regret.
