Update On Enzo Investigation, Rumble Cruiserweight Title Match Scrapped

On Monday WWE announced the suspension of Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore as a result of a sexual assault allegation made against him.

As a result, the planned Enzo Amore vs. Cedric Alexander match has been pulled from Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

WWE has yet to address the fate of the Cruiserweight Championship, but an announcement is expected as soon as today. It will be interesting to see how WWE addresses the title vacancy and Enzo’s absence on television.

Following up on our initial report on the Enzo story from Monday, Joseph Currier and Dave Meltzer provided this update on the victim’s allegation:

“According to Vince Lewis of the Phoenix Police Department’s Media Relations unit, Phoenix Police confirmed that on Monday, October 23rd, 2017, at around 2:30 p.m., Phoenix Police responded to a local hospital for a call of a sexual assault that had reportedly occurred on October 19th, 2017 at 401 West Clarendon Avenue.”
