Bayley shockingly returned on the September 7 episode of Raw and it might look like the contract question is settled. However, according to a new report, AEW was hoping to get in the mix before that happened.
During Fightful’s post-Raw show, Sean Ross Sapp discussed Bayley’s contract status following her surprise comeback, in which she attacked Lyra Valkyria and drew a massive reaction from the crowd.
Sapp said AEW didn’t have confirmation that Bayley had re-signed either, and that the company had “high hopes” for a chance “to make a play for Bayley.”
Bayley’s return on Raw saw her pull the referee out of the ring during Valkyria’s Money in the Bank qualifier against Sol Ruca and Maxxine Dupri, allowing Ruca to steal the win with the Sol Snatcher before Bayley attacked Valkyria after the bell.
Bayley had been away from WWE TV since the July 18 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. She had faced Lyra Valkyria on that show and faced a defeat before being attacked.
