Former WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee is not expected back on WWE television anytime soon.
Lee has been away from WWE programming since losing the title to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42. Now, as per WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Lee is not in line for an immediate return to WWE programming, though the door is not closed on a future comeback.
The update reinforces earlier reporting on AJ Lee’s backstage status with WWE.
Her emotional comments after the match left the door open for a return, and she addressed her status directly during the WrestleMania 42 post-show. Lee reflected on the match and the chance to share the moment with her family.
It’s been my favorite WrestleMania experience so far,” she stated. “Maybe my favorite match so far. Even though I lost it, I got to have my family here. For a lot of them, it was the first time ever, and what I wanted to do with that entrance was represent all the fans who have been with me from day one; who have been wearing my outfits, my shirts and my shorts and my shoes and skipping along with me the whole way.

There is currently no timetable for Lee’s upcoming WWE appearance. It is also noted that her name was among those quietly shifted to free agent status on WWE’s roster page, but her post-WrestleMania comments suggest she is keeping the door open for a return whenever the opportunity comes.
