Following his death, a number of WWE stars kept the spirit of Bray Wyatt alive by forming a new stable, called the Wyatt Sicks, in honor of the former WWE Champion. Well before that, though, Wyatt actually wanted to work with one of the group members himself.
As revealed in a new episode of Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Wyatt once proposed the idea of collaborating with Joe Gacy, specifically during his run on the WWE NXT brand.
So funny enough, I met him several times,” Gacy said. “Never really full conversations with each other. We ran into each other at the PC once. It was like a hello, hello. And then after he passed is when everybody started telling me how much he thought of me and said he wanted to come down to NXT and do something with me, and I’m like, I had no idea; this is the first I’m hearing about it, and I got upset.
Obviously, it’s a shame. Obviously, everything that happened, and I could have only wished. It’s great to hear that he wanted to do something, but now I’m like, well, I really wish we could have. It would have been definitely one of my bucket list highlights in my career to be able to do something like that with him.”
Gacy, a former WWE Tag Team Champion, spent three years on the NXT roster, notably leading the Schism stable. Unfortunately, an opportunity to work with Wyatt during that time never arose as he unexpectedly died from a heart attack in August 2023. Wyatt sustained COVID shortly before that, which exacerbated underlying heart issues.
In 2024, Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross, Erick Rowan, and Uncle Howdy (also known as Wyatt’s real-life brother Bo Dallas) paid tribute to him by joining forces and creating the eerie stable known as the Wyatt Sicks. Each portrayed a character previously seen in Wyatt’s famous Firefly Funhouse.
