CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens Set For November 6 SmackDown In Brooklyn

CM Punk and Kevin Owens will meet one-on-one on the November 6 SmackDown in Brooklyn, after a tense face-to-face moderated by Nick Aldis on Friday's show.

CM Punk and Kevin Owens will meet one-on-one on the November 6 SmackDown from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, WWE announced on Friday’s show. No title was mentioned in the announcement.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made the match during a sit-down with both men in Ontario, California. He said their personal animosity had stood in the way of their professional goals and invited them to say what they needed to face to face.

Owens opened by complaining about the chairs. “Why are the chairs like this? It’s uncomfortable,” he said. Punk called the meeting “an incredibly monumental waste of my time,” said he should be preparing for Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel, and blamed Owens for costing him his title.

Owens fired back that he had Punk beat in Toronto and that Punk cost him a later match against Sami Zayn. Punk accused Owens of 20 years of poking the bear, including knocking over his merchandise when he walks by. Owens answered by asking whether Punk hates t-shirts.

Owens said he knows who Punk is from people who have worked with him. Punk replied that Owens doesn’t know him. Punk closed by saying he can’t wait to put Owens on his back in Brooklyn, and Owens asked Aldis to turn the chairs around next time.

How They Got Here

Owens won a fatal four-way at SummerSlam to earn a title shot, and Punk retained over him on the August 21 SmackDown in Toronto when Zayn interfered. Zayn then took the Undisputed WWE Championship back from Punk in Mexico City.

Punk was also in the men’s ladder match at Money in the Bank, which Penta won. Owens said during the segment that he made sure Punk didn’t take the contract.

Zayn is scheduled to defend the Undisputed title against Trick Williams on October 30, then face Reigns at Crown Jewel on November 7. That show also features Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match, which comes the night after Punk and Owens meet in Brooklyn.
