Shawn Michaels announced that “Shabang” by Drake is the new opening theme song for WWE NXT, replacing “Millions From Now” by Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. The change takes effect with tonight’s episode on The CW.
Michaels, who runs NXT behind the scenes, posted the news on X. “Nobody does it quite like this crew. New music. Same show-stealing Superstars. ‘Shabang’ by @Drake is the new opening theme for #WWENXT. Turn it up!!” he wrote.
“Shabang” is a track from Drake’s ICEMAN album, which came out in May. “Millions From Now” debuted as the show’s opening theme on NXT’s first episode on The CW in October 2024.
The pairing is the latest in a run of WWE connections for Drake. He wrote “I’m sold” on Instagram after attending Elimination Chamber in Toronto in March 2025, then called Rhea Ripley his “muse” on Bobbi Althoff’s podcast that September. His OVO brand also teased a WWE collaboration in December.
Michaels has tried to pull Drake into NXT before. At the height of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud in 2024, he invited both rappers to the show to settle their differences. Nothing came of it.
NXT airs tonight at 8/7c on The CW from the WWE Performance Center. Zilla Fatu faces Lexis King in the opening match.
