A former WWE star called out the Stamford-based promotion for making false promises.
He is none other than the former NXT Champion, Aleister Black. After his AEW contract ended, Black returned to WWE in April 2025. Although he had a promising start, it turned into a lackluster run, and he was eventually released almost a year later.
In a recent appearance on ZELVX and CHARLIE GIRL’s YouTube channel, Black said that WWE made huge promises for his run when he was brought back, but didn’t keep any of them. The former WWE star questioned the company about his return and not booking him the way they promised, which made no sense to him.
In my case, it s*cked harder because of the mountains of things that were promised and all the other conversations and then being presented with this f*cking dud of a year. Despite main events, despite all these things, it was just anything as to what they said that they wanted to do.To me, it was like, ‘Why did you guys even want this? Because this makes no f*cking sense.’ But that’s besides the point. At some point, I’m sure I’ll talk about it.
Following his WWE release, Black served his 90-day non-compete clause and returned to the ring. He recently appeared in PROGRESS Wrestling and won their World Heavyweight Championship, sharing the moment with his wife, Zelina Vega.
As Aleister Black navigates the next phase of his career, it will be interesting to see what he does next.
