IYO SKY Sees Silver Lining In Rhea Ripley Being Sidelined With Injury

IYO SKY is sad to see Rhea Ripley hurt, but she thinks her former partner needed the break.

The two teamed as “Rhiyo” and held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship together before an amicable split earlier this year. Ripley went down with a torn meniscus in June and has since had surgery.

SKY told The Ringer Wrestling Show that the pair have not talked much since, and she admitted that is partly on her.

So, I’m not a texting person. I’m not a phone call person. So we haven’t talked too much, like talk, talk, talk.

What she has noticed is how hard Ripley was running before the injury.

But I totally understand what she’s doing and why she needed to take time for now. Because she, I really know she was being too busy, way busier than me. She was all over the world. She had main events, she had championship matches, and she had media interviews.

SKY expects her friend to return better for it.

Now she’s injured, that makes me sad, but definitely she needs time to take time, definitely she needs. But also I know her personality, she will come back when she is much stronger than before.

Ripley has spoken openly about the pressure she puts on herself, including a panic attack backstage in October 2025.

On September 11, WWE retroactively recognized Chelsea Green as the champion, ending Ripley’s reign as of August 2 and dropping the “interim” designation Green had held since winning it at SummerSlam. Ripley is no longer listed as champion on WWE’s title history.
