Je’Von Evans has explained how Becky Lynch became “mom” to him backstage in WWE. Speaking on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, the Raw star traced the nickname back to one of his first trips up to the main roster.
Evans said he introduced himself to Lynch, who asked how old he was. When he answered, she pointed out that she was old enough to be his mother, and he took the bit and ran with it on the spot.
The greeting has not changed since. Evans says he leads with “hey” and gets “hello, son” back, and while he admits it reads strangely on paper, he insists it is “not even weird, bro.”
Lynch gave her own version of the arrangement in June on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast, where she noted Evans is younger than her wrestling career and said he calls her “mom” and “mama” around the building. She spoke about watching him main event Elimination Chamber and described him as a star.
The Feedback Behind The Nickname
Evans framed the value of the relationship as candor rather than comfort. When he has a bad match, or when something in his work needs sharpening, he says Lynch tells him directly what he needs to do better instead of softening it.
He described her as a mentor he can bring any subject to at any time, then stressed that the support runs in both directions. That reciprocity is the more unusual claim, a 22-year-old positioning himself as someone a former world champion also leans on.
Both are currently on Raw. Lynch returned on the August 3 episode to confront Liv Morgan over the Women’s World Championship, the same night Evans was attacked by a returning Big Cass.
