Jim Ross says he is undergoing tests after doctors found a spot on his kidney, and that the shunt placed in his brain earlier this year has been causing severe headaches.
Ross gave the update on a live episode of Grilling JR following Wednesday’s Dynamite.
I’ve been up to my a*** in doctor’s appointments this week. Saw a little spot of something on my kidney, and so we’re running a lot of tests,” Ross said.
Ross said the shunt has been bothering him and that he is scheduled for a scan.
I’m going to get a scan tomorrow, and get that back to my neurosurgeon, so he can tell me what the hell’s wrong. It may just need to be adjusted. That’s my take on it,” he said.
Ross had surgery this summer to place a shunt that drains excess fluid from his brain. The procedure had been scheduled. He said he has been dealing with what he called “blistering headaches.”
They hurt so bad that I wake up in the middle of the night more often than not. You know, two or three, 4 o’clock in the morning because I got a headache, and that’s not normal,” Ross said.
He added that the surgical wound on his skull is healing well, and that he believes the fluid buildup before his surgery affected his balance.
I think that’s why I was falling so damn much,” Ross said.
Ross said he had broken his wrist and injured his groin and knees over the past year, and that he broke two toes the morning of his surgery.
Ross said the shunt has already been adjusted.
I’ve had mine adjusted three times. So it’s not a recent situation, but you know, at some point I’ve got to be able to sleep, and I feel fatigued a lot,” he said.
Ross said he is being referred to a specialist in Oklahoma City about the spot on his kidney.
They’re not sure if it’s cancerous or not, so it’s been a stressful week, really has,” he said.
Despite the setbacks, the 74-year-old said he still plans to return to AEW.
I’m proud to be a part of AEW,” Ross said. “I still got my playbook. I still got my jersey. I just got to get healthy, and we’re working on that right now. So, CT scan tomorrow, then back to the neurosurgeon later this week.
Ross said his doctor visits have also given him perspective.
I’ve been to so many doctor’s appointments, and what you realize there is that you see people that are worse off than you are,” he said.
