Joe Hendry believes he already has the numbers to be one of WWE’s top stars. Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, the Raw star said he knows “in my heart” that he can be a top draw for the company, and he laid out his case point by point.
I’m just always looking to get better at what I do. I know in my heart that I can be a top draw for WWE. I know people have things to say about that, but the truth is I know that I can be a top guy, I know that I can be an asset to the professional wrestling business because I have the metrics to prove it.
Hendry listed the receipts himself: what he called the most viewed clip in all of wrestling in 2024, his WrestleMania match with Randy Orton, which he said “did insane numbers on social media,” a WrestleMania shirt that was a bestseller, and his NXT Championship win.
I have the metrics to prove that I can draw in the professional wrestling business, and my goal is to be somebody who can deliver for the company.
Hendry Points To Nick Khan’s Standard
Hendry tied his goal directly to comments from WWE President Nick Khan about what the company wants from its talent.
I saw in an interview that Nick Khan was asked what WWE is looking for from talent. It is someone that can move the needle for the company immediately or in the near future. I believe that I’m somebody who can do that. I’ve had metrics in the past to prove that I think I can be a top guy for WWE. So I’m looking to acquire the skills to do that as quickly as I can.
A Busy Year Since NXT
Hendry broke out in TNA Wrestling before signing with WWE, then won the NXT Championship. He told TV Insider that people forget he was still NXT Champion during the first half of this year before he moved up to Raw. Since then he has done the viral “Fire Logan Paul” song, released his album with WWE Music Group (Hendry explained how that album came together) and worked WWE tours in South America and Hawaii.
On Raw, he has spent recent weeks mocking JD McDonagh, a feud that turned into a singles match on the October 19 edition of Raw. Hendry still gave McDonagh credit in the interview.
As much as I can’t stand him, you only get better wrestling a guy like JD McDonagh, you know? He needs to be made fun of at all times, but he is a fantastic professional wrestler.
Hendry Stars In WWE’s First Microdrama
The interview promoted Agent of Shadows, WWE’s first microdrama, which premieres October 23 on ReelShort. Drew McIntyre, Jacob Fatu, Nikkita Lyons, Michael Hayes and Booker T also appear. Hendry plays himself, or as he put it, “I, Joe Hendry, play Joe Hendry, the greatest character in all of media.”
Despite the screen work, Hendry said he is not chasing an acting career. “Right now, my goal is to be the best professional wrestler that I can be,” he said, adding that wrestling comes first and music second.
