NBA Champion Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a major crossover moment at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18 inside Madison Square Garden, making a surprise appearance to help Danhausen defeat JD McDonagh in a No Disqualification match. The segment played heavily into Danhausen’s long-running storyline with The Judgment Day and his well-publicized connection to the New York Knicks’ 2026 NBA Championship run.

A pre-match video package titled “The Cursefather” recapped Danhausen’s feud with the group, including his “uncursing” of the Knicks that preceded their title-winning playoff run.During the match, Dominik Mysterio repeatedly interfered at ringside while taunting Danhausen with a stolen custom Knicks jersey that Judgment Day had previously taken after trashing Danhausen’s lab.

A trio of “Minihausens” briefly entered the fray to attack the heels before being fought off. Judgment Day then set up a table in the ring.Danhausen activated a “cloning machine” by placing a stuffed black cat inside it. The machine opened to reveal Towns (playing off the “KAT” initials), who received a huge reaction from the MSG crowd. Towns immediately went on the offensive, delivering a chokeslam to JD McDonagh followed by another chokeslam that drove Dominik Mysterio through the table.

Towns and Danhausen then joined forces to “curse” McDonagh before Danhausen hit his signature Danhausen Death Drop for the pinfall victory. The appearance was heavily promoted and celebrated by WWE on social media, with the company posting “IT’S KATHAUSEN!!!” alongside images of Towns in the ring alongside Danhausen.

The moment stood out as a highlight of the Peacock special, blending Danhausen’s comedic supernatural gimmick with mainstream NBA crossover appeal in front of a passionate New York crowd at the Knicks’ home arena.Towns, who helped lead the Knicks to their first NBA title in over 50 years, has been loosely tied to the wrestling angle through Danhausen’s storyline in recent months.

His in-ring involvement at SNME marked a memorable payoff for fans at The Garden. WWE has leaned into the Danhausen-Knicks connection with merchandise and promotional tie-ins leading into the MSG show.
