Danhausen’s debut did not go over with the WWE locker room.
The former AEW star made his first appearance for the promotion at the 2026 Elimination Chamber PPV. The debut came after weeks of teasing where a sealed wooden crate was seen on both Raw and SmackDown.
While the comedy star has since become one of the company’s most over acts, people at the time had questioned the wisdom of giving Danhausen a PPV spot for his debut after hyping it up for a while.
Taking Our Spots: Kit Wilson
During a recent interview with Busted Open, Kit Wilson, who faced Danhausen in his WWE debut match, opened up about his arrival in the company. Wilson admitted that he did not think the comedy star would become so popular so quickly. The WWE star noted that his debut had not gone over well with everyone backstage:
It was a lot of people that enjoyed it. There was a lot of people that didn’t. Again, that’s the beautiful thing about this company, about this program is that we all get to have our own opinion.
Danhausen came in and there was a lot of us backstage that didn’t feel too fond about him coming in on a pay-per-view, on a PLE, maybe taking our spots. So of course, I wanted to be the guy to take on Danhausen. Who had his debut match? Me. Who put him on the map? Me, and now Danhausen is popular than ever. So, I guess you’re welcome?
Danhausen most recently defeated Dominik Mysterio to win a Human Monies on a Pole match at Night 2 of SummerSlam 2026.
