Max Caster Stepping Away From Wrestling To Go To Therapy

Max Caster says he is stepping away from wrestling for an extended period and heading to therapy, six days after TNA cut ties with him over a rap line about the Riyadh attacks.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion addressed the crowd after his match at Awesome Championship Wrestling’s Mischief Night II in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Saturday. Cageside Seats reported that he was an unadvertised opponent for ACW National champion Zack Clayton.

Caster opened by recapping his week, saying he “started a contract and ended a contract with TNA Wrestling” inside a single day. According to Fightful, he said fans were the one group he hadn’t yet apologized to, and that many people had been excited to see him in TNA.

He said he doesn’t know where he’ll be, only that he is “stepping away from the ring for an extended period of time,” as POST Wrestling reported. “I’m gonna go to therapy,” Caster said, adding that he wants to come back at a point when the ring feels like home again.

Caster debuted for TNA on October 11 at Bound for Glory in Tampa, answering Moose’s open challenge and losing the match. His entrance freestyle referenced the October 10 missile attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed at least 12 people. TNA cut ties with him the next day, saying “Max Caster will no longer be wrestling for TNA.”

In a video posted Tuesday, Caster thanked TNA president Carlos Silva and apologized to him and others in the office. According to OutKick, he also said he would not apologize to anyone offended by the line, describing his intent as entertainment. Our earlier report has more on that response.

The detour began after Caster became a free agent when his AEW contract expired at the start of October. He has not said where he plans to wrestle next.
