LA Knight vs. Roman Reigns is expected to close Money in the Bank.
A source told WrestleVotes on Fightful Select that Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Knight is penciled in as the main event. The show takes place Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
A brief conversation took place while the final card was being built about having the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match close the show instead. As of now, Knight vs. Reigns is set to go on last.
Knight earned the title shot after attacking Reigns following Raw in Mexico City on Sept. 14. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce made the match official the next day.
The report also lists the current creative favorites for both ladder matches:
- Men’s Money in the Bank: Penta and Bron Breakker
- Women’s Money in the Bank: Roxanne Perez and Lash Legend
An idea for Trick Williams to win the men’s ladder match was floating around at one point, according to the report.
CM Punk and Kevin Owens are unlikely winners at this time. WWE wants to keep the SmackDown main event story going, with six to eight stars chasing Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship. A source added that putting the briefcase into that title picture could still juice up the storyline.
Zayn beat Punk for the title on the Sept. 11 episode of SmackDown.
