One beat in Monday’s Raw was not in the script, and people noticed.
WrestleVotes reports on Fightful Select that there was backstage chatter among WWE personnel after the segment between Oba Femi and The Vision on Monday’s Raw, specifically about Femi brushing off Bronson Reed when Reed put a foot on his back.
WrestleVotes has learned that the moment was not written into the segment and caught some people off guard. WrestleVotes asked around and was told that plenty of people caught it, and that some of them did not like it.
The report goes no further than that, and no explanation has been offered for why it happened.
It comes at the start of a story rather than the end of one. Reed returned the night before at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, running down during Femi’s match with Bron Breakker and cracking him across the back with a chair to draw the disqualification. The Vision followed him in and left Femi lying.
WrestleVotes had reported before that return that WWE creative had settled on a direction for Reed and intended to bring him back as a main event level heel. He had been out since February with a torn biceps.
The wider feud is about succession. Brock Lesnar called Femi the future of WWE after Femi retired him at SummerSlam, and Breakker has spent the weeks since arguing the label belongs to him.
