Report: Road Dogg's TNA Talks Have Stalled

Road Dogg’s move to TNA has hit a wall.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that talks to bring Brian James into TNA have stalled, with the two sides not appearing close to an agreement.

He didn’t make a deal and right now they don’t seem to be close to a deal.

That reverses the direction of the story. Earlier this month the Observer reported James was still expected to sign despite not having a contract, and PWInsider had described the sides as ironing out terms.

James has been in TNA’s orbit since Slammiversary in Boston in June, where he was backstage without a deal and did some informal match agenting. He was not at the Albany television tapings that followed. TNA is taping Thursday and Friday at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.

The opening came when Tommy Dreamer exited TNA in June as part of company-wide reductions. James, a WWE Hall of Famer with the New Age Outlaws and a former SmackDown head writer, had been floated as a replacement on the creative side. He resigned from WWE earlier this year.

He is not new to the building. James wrestled for TNA from 2002 to 2009, reuniting with Billy Gunn there as Voodoo Kin Mafia.
