WWE’s creative team is feeling heat coming out of Monday’s Raw.
WrestleVotes Radio reports that a number of people in WWE’s creative departments are under pressure this week, and that the show carried added internal importance because of where it was held. Several Netflix executives were in attendance at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, which the outlet frames as something of a home game for the streamer.
The complaints start at the top of the show. One source pointed to the opening segment as not a good look, citing the microphone problems and the botched Fall From Grace.
That segment was the Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi weigh-in ahead of their Hell in a Cell match. Paul Heyman’s mic cut out mid-promo, and he covered with a crack about the sound crew being from California. Lesnar broke character laughing. Femi then went after ringside security and nearly dropped one of them on his head before catching him and landing the powerbomb cleanly on a second try.
WrestleVotes is also told the Danhausen and Joe Hendry segment missed the mark, with Ryan Garcia’s appearance considered underwhelming and unnecessary.
Garcia, the WBC welterweight champion, blended into the concert’s conga line before smashing a guitar over Hendry’s back, opening the door for Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh to lay out Hendry, Danhausen and the Minihausens. Garcia fights Conor Benn on September 12 under the Zuffa Boxing banner, which puts him inside the same TKO umbrella as WWE.
