WWE appears to know who will fill Bruce Prichard’s shoes.
According to PWInsider, multiple sources say the plan is for Shawn Michaels to essentially step into Prichard’s current role after Prichard retires. The succession plan has reportedly been in place for some time, and Michaels will begin preparing for the job in the months ahead.
Prichard is expected to step away from his full-time creative role after WrestleMania 43 next year, though the timing could change. He has served as WWE’s executive director of creative writing and talent since 2020. He is expected to stay on in a consulting capacity and work more from home.
Prichard is also facing neck surgery. Conrad Thompson said on 83 Weeks that the injury dates back to a 1991 angle in which the Ultimate Warrior attacked Prichard’s Brother Love character.
Michaels has led NXT creative under Triple H since 2021 and has been credited with developing much of the talent now on the main roster. Moving into Prichard’s job would put him much closer to Raw and SmackDown.
WWE has not announced any changes.
