Huge WWE Retirement Discussed For 2027

Rey Mysterio could retire in 2027, as backstage chatter at WWE TV tapings points to next year being the Hall of Famer's final run as an active wrestler.

A huge WWE retirement might be coming in 2027.

The company has seen a number of major retirements over the last couple of years. This includes the John Cena retirement tour as well as the retirement matches for both Goldberg and AJ Styles.

Now WrestleVotes has brought word about rumblings of another potential huge retirement that could be coming in 2027. According to the site, recent chatter at TV tapings has pointed at next year being the last active year for Rey Mysterio.

While not a lot is known about the retirement creative for Mysterio at the moment, the belief is that he will continue being part of WWE after the end of his in-ring career, and play a vital role in the development of next-generation talent.

This report comes only days after another former WWE World Champion Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland announced that 2027 will be his last active year in wrestling.

Making his debut in 1989, Rey Mysterio’s career spans nearly four decades and includes countless achievements in both WCW and WWE, as well as accolades in numerous Mexican promotions.

The WWE Hall of Famer has noted on many occasions that he had considered retirement in 2019 before his son Dominik Mysterio decided to join the business. While there is no word on who could be the one to retire the wrestling veteran, his final match being against his son would be the most fitting.
