Ric Flair Cancels Con Appearance Over Blood Clot

Ric Flair has canceled his Washington State Horror Con appearance due to a blood clot in his leg and says he is scheduled for a procedure on the vein.

Ric Flair is still dealing with the blood clot in his leg, and it has cost him another appearance.

The WWE Hall of Famer announced on X that he has canceled his scheduled appearance at Washington State Horror Con, which runs this weekend outside Seattle. He said his doctors have limited his travel to three to four hours.

Unfortunately, I am dealing with a blood clot in my leg, and my doctors have limited my travel to 3–4 hours. Seattle falls outside that range, and as disappointed as I am, I have to put my health and recovery first.

Flair pointed to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was ruled out for the season this week after blood clots were found in his lungs.

Blood clots are extremely serious and can be life-threatening… It is a reminder that this is not something to take lightly, and I must follow medical advice.

Flair is scheduled for a procedure to strip the affected vein. His doctors expect it will clear him for more travel afterward.

Please know this decision was not made lightly. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment, and I am incredibly grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

He also apologized to his agent, Steve Solomon, the convention, Big Event and his fans in Seattle.

The clot first surfaced in August, when Flair missed the Cauliflower Alley Club reunion in Las Vegas. He accepted the club’s Iron Mike Mazurki Award by video and explained that the clot kept him from making five- or six-hour trips. Days later, he insisted the clot wouldn’t stop him from flying to a signing in Philadelphia.

It is the latest in a long line of health battles for the 77-year-old:

  • 2017: Flair was hospitalized in August and placed in a medically induced coma. He was in the early stages of kidney failure and close to congestive heart failure. Doctors removed part of his bowel and gave him a pacemaker. He has blamed decades of heavy drinking.
  • 2019: He had surgery to replace his pacemaker and remove a blood clot tied to an irregular heartbeat, forcing him to miss Starrcast II.
  • 2025: He revealed his second skin cancer diagnosis in three years in June, then announced he was cancer-free in July.
  • 2026: The blood clot in his leg kept him from Las Vegas in August and has now forced him out of the Seattle-area convention.

Flair closed by saying he looks forward to “getting healthy and seeing you all down the road.”
