Sam Holloway Announces WWE ID Exit As Departures Pile Up

Sam Holloway is no longer part of the WWE ID program.

Holloway announced the news in a statement on social media, writing that his time in the program “has come to an end.” He called it “an incredible two years” filled with “unforgettable experiences, opportunities, and lessons,” and said he is “beyond grateful” while being “even more excited for what’s ahead.” He did not say whether the exit was a release or a contract that was allowed to expire.

His statement closed with a line that suggests he is already looking forward: “The work continues and I’m ready to takeover!” He did not mention any upcoming bookings.

Holloway was one of the early names in the program. WWE announced him as a WWE ID prospect in November 2024, after William Regal “ID’d” him and Marcus Mathers backstage at SmackDown. The Akron, Ohio native was scouted from International Wrestling Cartel, where he was the reigning Super Indy Champion at the time, and trained at Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland. You can revisit how Regal scouted Holloway and Mathers, or see the full list of contracted WWE ID prospects.

He remained active in the program through the summer. Holloway was part of the lineup for the June 26 Nightmare Factory ID Showcase in Atlanta, and on September 9 he teamed with Aaron Rourke, Cappuccino Jones and Mathers as WWE ID 1.0 against The Mog Squad on the Evolve ID Showcase Special.

His exit lands in a busy few days for WWE ID. Mathers announced his own departure on October 9, the same week WWE chose not to renew the contract of Laynie Luck, who had just lost the WWE ID Women’s Championship after a record 320-day reign. With Holloway gone, two of the four wrestlers on that September 9 ID 1.0 team are out of the program, and three of its most recognizable names have left within days of each other.
