Steve Maclin has his eye on AEW.
The former TNA World Champion was granted his release from TNA in June after requesting it. Speaking with TSN, Maclin said AEW is a natural fit, with his wife and several close friends already there.
Yeah, I’m always interested in that end of the world with AEW, especially with my wife there, but then a lot of my friends are also there. My best friend, Josh Alexander, you got the Rascalz [Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier] there now, too.
Maclin is married to AEW’s Deonna Purrazzo. He pointed to plenty of familiar faces on the roster beyond his TNA ties.
A lot of TNA alumni, but there’s also a lot of the talent on the AEW roster I’ve been around a long time.
He also has matches in mind.
There’s dream matchups for me, as well, and if that were to come to fruition and I ended up there, that would be awesome. I would love the opportunity to go out there on AEW Dynamite, Collision, Ring of Honor.
Maclin won the Impact World Championship by beating KUSHIDA at Rebellion in April 2023. His last TNA match was a loss to TNA World Champion Mike Santana at the May 15 tapings in Sacramento.
He previously wrestled in WWE under the name Steve Cutler.
The Rascalz are one of several new additions to AEW’s tag team division. FTR’s Dax Harwood named them as one of the young teams trying to take FTR’s spot.
