Tony Khan is not worried about who owns AEW’s television home.
Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is close to completion, and the AEW president has spent months telling anyone who asks that he welcomes it. He said so again in a video posted ahead of Wednesday’s Dynamite.
Khan first addressed it in March.
I have great relationships all around with everybody involved. I’m very excited about the future landscape of media and Warner Brothers. I have a great relationship with Paramount through the National Football League. I think the world of David Ellison and feel I have a good relationship with him as well. I’m excited about the future of Warner Brothers.
He has repeated the sentiment every time it has come up since.
Khan also revealed that WBD officials will be at Wednesday’s tapings for both Dynamite and Collision.
The two companies signed a definitive merger agreement in February, with Paramount paying $31 per share for WBD. The Justice Department cleared the deal in June, and it has been expected to close before the end of the third quarter.
AEW’s television deal runs through WBD’s networks, so the new ownership inherits the relationship.
