Jake “The Snake” Roberts says he has re-signed with WWE, less than four months after confirming his AEW exit, and he had some pointed advice for his former boss, Tony Khan.
Speaking with Nick Teodoro on the Nick Club Wrestling Happy Hour, the WWE Hall of Famer dropped the news almost in passing. Asked what he’s been up to, Roberts said he’s “staying busy,” confirmed he’s no longer with AEW and said he’s back with WWE, “doing some stuff for them and just enjoying life.”

JAKE THE SNAKE
Roberts didn’t say what that work involves or how long the deal runs. He’s already been back in the WWE orbit publicly, appearing at a WWE fan event during SummerSlam weekend in Minneapolis.
Roberts Says AEW’s Roster Could Be Used Better
When Teodoro asked about the biggest difference between the two companies, Roberts didn’t hedge.
“Creative, number one, no doubt,” he said. “Tony Khan needs to loosen up the reins a little bit and take some advice. He’s got a good product.”
Roberts added that AEW has plenty of talent and that Khan could be using it better. He kept the critique professional rather than personal, saying “I loved working for Tony Khan” and calling the AEW boss “a sweet guy.”
His clearest example was Lance Archer, the wrestler he managed for most of his AEW run.
“He has never gotten the break he deserves. He really hasn’t. It’s a damn shame,” Roberts said.
A Different Tone From His AEW Farewell
The comments are sharper than anything Roberts said when he confirmed he had parted ways with AEW in July. Back then, speaking with Bill Apter, he called Khan “a breath of fresh air.”
Roberts arrived in AEW by confronting Cody Rhodes on the March 4, 2020 episode of Dynamite, which led to his long pairing with Archer. He later aligned with La Faccion Ingobernable before disappearing from AEW television in late 2024. He re-signed with AEW in 2024, extending a run that had started as a planned six-week stint.
Roberts isn’t exactly an uncritical WWE fan either. In August, he admitted the current WWE product isn’t his flavor, even while crediting its success.
