Roxanne Perez no longer wants to be the prodigy. Perez arrived in WWE with that framing, built on a career already underway before most people her age had started one. Speaking to Allenownz Wrasslin, she said she has moved past it.
I mean, I think people will always resonate me with the Prodigy, and you guys can call me that for as long as you want. But I think I’m finally, I feel it, I’m transitioning into, I’m not just a prodigy now. I’m a freaking star. I’m the star girl of the WWE. And I think that I’m, I think the fans are finally starting to see that.
She is not pretending the age has stopped being part of it.
And, you know, I am young, but I’m not just the super, super young girl that’s just pretty good and mastering things. I’ve mastered it. Yep. And now I’m the star.
The record backs the confidence. Perez is 24 and has held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and the NXT Women’s Championship twice.
She has been working outside the usual lanes lately. Perez won a fatal four-way at Triplemania 34 in Las Vegas over Natalya, La Hiedra and Faby Apache, which puts her opposite La Catalina for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship at Worlds Collide on September 26 in Rosemont, Illinois.
That show runs head-to-head with AEW All Out. WrestleVotes reported that the 8 PM start was chosen specifically to go against it.
