WWE legend-turned-Hollywood heavyweight Dave Bautista was on hand at this year’s Academy Awards to present the award for Best Cinematography. Alongside Joe Alwyn, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña, and Willem Defoe, the former WWE World Heayvweight Champion was part of the award’s festivities.
The award was won by Lol Crawley for her work on The Brutalist. The film faced fierce competiton in its category.
- The Brutalist – Lol Crawley
- Dune: Part Two – Greig Fraser
- Emilia Pérez – Paul Guilhaume
- Maria – Edward Lachman
- Nosferatu – Jarin Blaschke
Bautista wasn’t nominated for any individual awards, but there was a victory for the Animal at the ceremony. Dune: Part Two, which saw Bautista reprise his role as Glossu Rabban won the Oscar for both Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.
Bautista has proven to be one of the biggest wrestler-turned-actor success stories, matching the likes of John Cena and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. With In the Lost Lands coming this year, as well as aspirations to direct, the Animal’s time in the movie-making industry is far from over.
