WWE Raw on Netflix

WWE’s lucrative deal with Netflix is valued at $5 billion over ten years and will see the red brand host all of its weekly events on the platform from January onwards. Fans outside the United States will also receive WWE SmackDown, NXT, and Premium Live Events.

WWE Raw will have a new logo to match its new era, and despite streaming issues during the recent Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson fight, WWE has been assured that these problems won’t affect their show. With John Cena set to kick off his farewell tour when Raw moves to Netflix, the January 6, show will be the place to be for wrestling fans with a deluge of wrestling stars and more promised for the hotly-anticipated event.

Josh Alexander Retires from Independent Wrestling to Focus on New Opportunity

0

Josh Alexander, a two-time Impact World Champion, has officially announced his retirement from independent wrestling. The announcement was made during Northern Crown Wrestling’s live show in Toronto on Sunday. Davie Portman from the Poisonrana podcast was in attendance and shared this footage:

Alexander hinted that this decision stems from an upcoming wrestling commitment that demands exclusivity or a significant amount of his focus, prompting him to prioritize this new chapter in his career.

After 20 years in independent wrestling, Josh has decided it’s time to move on. In a follow-up post on social media, he expresses his love for the journey which included traveling worldwide, working with great people, and performing for fans. He encourages the next generation of wrestlers to rise and fill the potential gap he might leave in the Canadian wrestling scene.

Alexander thanks the wrestling promotions for booking him, aiding in supporting his family financially; fellow wrestlers for the learning experiences from every match and the fans for their support which kept him motivated during tough times. While he’s stepping away from indie bookings, he implies that this isn’t a complete goodbye but rather a “see you later.”

His last indie show will be at WrestlePrestige on January 11th.

Best known for his incredible versatility, Alexander has thrived in both singles competition and tag team wrestling. His most notable achievement is a record-breaking 335-day reign as Impact World Champion, surpassing Bobby Roode’s previous milestone of 256 days. Additionally, his partnership with Ethan Page in the acclaimed tag team, The North, remains a highlight of his storied career.

This decision signals a pivotal moment for Alexander as he prepares to dedicate himself fully to this next opportunity in professional wrestling.

CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and Liv Morgan Represent WWE at Complex Con

0

CM Punk and Rey Mysterio made a joint appearance at Complex Con on Sunday, marking Punk’s first public outing since his grueling Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024. Both WWE stars were seen engaging with fans, showcasing their charisma outside the ring.

The festival and exhibition brought together music, style, sneakers, pop culture, art, food, and innovation, featuring exclusive releases from influential brands, immersive experiences, and performances. Some of the highlights included live performances by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti, as well as a marketplace with hundreds of brands, retailers, and artists.

After an intense Hell in a Cell battle, CM Punk has been off WWE television, taking a well-deserved break. Punk appeared in high spirits, wearing a blue suit and interacting with fans by tossing merchandise into the crowd. Notably, he didn’t display any signs of injury.

Rey Mysterio, who has shared memorable matches and storylines with Punk in the past, joined him for the festivities. WWE even captured and shared moments from the event on social media.

Liv Morgan Names Chyna as Dream Opponent

Also appearing at Complex Con was Liv Morgan, who turned heads with her response to a fan’s question about her dream WWE match. She named the late WWE Hall of Famer Chyna.

Danhausen’s AEW Future in Question Amid Indie Commitments and Family Priorities

0

Recent reports indicate that AEW and Danhausen have had limited communication over the past six months, aside from approvals for independent bookings. The wrestler, known for his comedic persona, has faced delays in returning to AEW programming since recovering from an injury.

Return Delays and Communication Struggles

According to Fightful Select, Danhausen was initially slated to return about a year ago but expressed frustration to AEW President Tony Khan when plans for his comeback were altered. While creative pitches for his return were proposed earlier this year, none materialized, despite Danhausen’s willingness to rejoin AEW’s active roster.

Conflicting Priorities and Misunderstandings

Sources within AEW believed Danhausen preferred focusing on independent wrestling commitments rather than working AEW’s Collision, which airs on Saturdays. However, Danhausen reportedly conveyed that family-related circumstances impacted his availability. AEW insiders noted that he continued participating in independent events during this time, which may have contributed to the perception that he was deprioritizing Collision.

Current Status

Danhausen’s future with AEW remains uncertain, with no indication of a timeline for his return to the promotion’s programming. Both sides appear to have differing perspectives on his recent career choices, leaving the door open for further discussions.

AJ’s upcoming match with QT Marshall marks his return to professional wrestling, following his rise to fame on social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube.

Meanwhile, his Full Gear opponent QT Marshall is set to release a diss track aimed at AJ and Big Justice.

Big Boom has expressed interest in continuing his wrestling career with AEW beyond this one-match deal, stating that he is open to future opportunities if the audience desires more.

Tama Tonga Hints at The Rock’s Role in WWE’s Bloodline Evolution

0

Tama Tonga has hinted at significant developments involving The Rock and WWE’s Bloodline faction. Following The Rock’s unexpected appearance at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event in Atlanta six weeks ago, speculation has grown about his role within the Bloodline.

A prevalent theory suggests that The Rock is orchestrating Solo Sikoa’s revamped Bloodline, which now includes Jacob Fatu, Tonga Loa, and Tama Tonga. During The Rock’s appearance at Bad Blood, footage captured Sikoa mentioning that The Rock’s involvement was part of “the plan,” adding weight to this theory.

Further fueling speculation, recent footage from SmackDown showed Tama Tonga making a throat-cut gesture similar to one The Rock made at Bad Blood. When a Twitter user claimed this gesture confirmed The Rock’s leadership of the Bloodline,

Tama Tonga responded with a cryptic “Shhhhhhhh,” suggesting that a revelation about The Rock’s involvement may be forthcoming.

Additionally, Bronson Reed has aligned himself with the Bloodline, becoming the faction’s fifth member for the upcoming WarGames match.

Cody Rhodes Explains Why Pharaoh Is Not Worried About Larry’s Increasing Merch Sales

0

Pharaoh is not worried about Larry outdrawing him in T-shirt sales because he has more products on the shelf.

Cody Rhodes’ dog Pharaoh has made many wrestling appearances alongside the current Undisputed Champion over the years in different companies. While CM Punk’s Larry has recently become a viral sensation after being featured in several WWE social media videos in the last few months.

The new-found stardom has led to Larry getting his own merchandise on WWE shop. His T-shirt specifically is said to be outdrawing even many wrestling legends in sales.

Pharoh Thinks He Is The Bigger Star

The American Nightmare was asked about the rumors of Larry’s T-shirt sales and how Pharoh feels about it in a new interview with Adrian Hernandez. Rhodes explained that Pharoh is not worried.

He suggested that Pharaoh finds himself to be the biggest star still with more number of products available to buy, including things like his much-loved plush toy:

“No I don’t think that’s a rumor. So Pharoh has more, this going to sound so inside, he has more SKUs on the shelf. He’s got a couple shirts, the plushes. So Larry is killing it. He should be [proud].

We love Larry in our house. CM Punk loves Pharaoh. But Larry’s not there yet. I don’t doubt Larry’s going to get there. We’re talking about dogs alright, it’s just dogs. Larry’s on his way.”

While Pharaoh might have more products on the shelf at the moment, Larry seems to be coming for his spot. With his own newly launched plush toy, the Punk clan member is definitely targeting the #1 position and Pharaoh will have to work extra hard if he wants to maintain his status in the ever-competitive world of pro wrestling.

Apart from this, Cody Rhodes also talked about things such as rumors of Rock’s WrestleMania 41 status, his Extreme Rules match with Big Show and more. You can check out his full interview below:

Cody Rhodes Hints at The Rock’s Role at WrestleMania 41

0

The Rock will have a key role to play at WrestleMania 41 next April, whether he’s in the ring or not, so says WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Speaking to Adrian Hernandez at ComplexCon, Rhodes addressed the possibility of the Final Boss being involved in next year’s two-night spectacle which will take place from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

“Whether he’s in the ring or not, he is very much still involved with what happens at 41. I know when he comes back, I know who he’ll come looking for, and I know what to expect.”

Rhodes’ comments come one month after a report that Johnson had informed WWE that he’d be too busy to make WrestleMania due to his Hollywood commitments. Johnson himself refuted the claim with some choice language on his Instagram.

Rhodes has already teased an unexpected WrestleMania 41 main event, with fans eager at a potential singles showdown with The Rock. The two came face-to-face on the post-WrestleMania 40 Raw during which Rock vowed to return and come for The American Nightmare. The Rock fulfilled that promise at WWE Bad Blood 2024 following Rhodes and Roman Reigns’ win over The Bloodline.

Cody’s Invite To Steve Austin

Whether The Rock appears or not, another name fans could see next April is Steve Austin, who missed this year’s festivities in Philadelphia. During the interview, Rhodes hoped that the Rattlesnake will be around for WrestleMania 41.

“The invitation’s there. He’s also not far, I mean, we could helicopter him 3 hours away, Great American Bash style… I just would like him to be around to see how we’re doing…. I hope he’s proud of all of us because he really has set the table for us.”

Whether he’s in the ring or not, fans can expect The Rock to play a pivotal role in next year’s Showcase of the Immortals, while Rhodes intends to headline the event for the fourth time. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on Cody Rhodes and The Rock as their paths seem destined to cross next April in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Samantha Irvin Hits Back At Claim She ‘Burned Bridges’ With WWE

0

Samantha Irvin’s unexpected departure from WWE took many by surprise, as have her comments about her views on ring announcing since her exit. This week, Irvin once again responded to a fan critical of what she’s had to say post-WWE and doesn’t believe she has ‘burned a bridge’ with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

Responding to an online commenter who said that Irvin and Ricochet have both burned bridges with WWE, Irvin said that she took to AI service Grok to find any proof of this.

Irvin later added that she tried to inject some personality into her role as a ring announcer with a comparison to the late comedy actor Robin Williams. Irvin believes those criticizing her now were hardly fans of her during her time with WWE which ended last month.

What Has Samantha Said?

Some online commentators have taken issue with Irvin’s post-WWE comments, but here is what she has actually said:

  • In her initial farewell statement, Irvin shared love for the WWE fans and those working in the company. She said that she was grateful to Triple H for trusting her in the ring announcer role and that she was “proud to have used my voice” as part of WWE.
  • Irvin later clarified a false report about when she notified WWE of her exit. While the report said she only told WWE mere hours before an episode of Raw, Irvin actually informed higher-ups months earlier.
  • Irvin later said she didn’t like announcing, and had initially seen the role as a way into other WWE performances like a manager or GM. Irin made clear that she loves watching WWE action.

Bronson Reed Explains SmackDown Attack After Joining New Bloodline

0

On this past Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, “Big” Bronson Reed solidified his allegiance with the new Bloodline faction by aiding them in a brutal assault on the OG Bloodline. The alliance was later confirmed on SmackDown Lowdown, naming Reed as the fifth member of the new Bloodline for the Men’s WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series.

Reed wasted no time celebrating his inclusion, taking to his official Twitter (X) account to declare his intentions. In his post, Reed emphasized his dominance, vowing to take what he wants and asserting his recognition of Solo Sikoa as a leader.

“I told you, I’m coming for that spotlight. Raw, Smackdown, I’ll take it all. I do what I want when I want. I acknowledge SOLO. Also, it’s called AFAKASI, you damn morons!” Reed wrote.

With Bronson Reed officially in their ranks, the new Bloodline appears stronger than ever as they prepare for the high-stakes WarGames clash against the OG Bloodline at Survivor Series.

Watch: Triple H Meets Up With President-Elect Donald Trump At UFC 309

0

A number of WWE names were present at the UFC 309 event this Saturday Night including the Chief Content Officer Triple H who got to meet Donald Trump at the show.

The president-elect was in attendance for the show alongside the announced co-head of his Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk. Trump got a huge response from the crowd during his entrance and the heavyweight champion Jon Jones also handed him the title belt for a bit after his win in the main event.

The WWE official who was in attendance with his wife Stephanie McMahon got to share a brief moment with the billionaire politician and UFC president Dana White during his visit:

Triple H’s wasn’t the only WWE representative at the show. Both the Terror Twins in Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest were also in the arena and the official TKO account shared a video of them on Twitter.

Other notable names in attendance included legendary boxer Mike Tyson, and rapper Jelly Roll both of whom have made appearances on WWE TV before.

The WWE Top Brass has always had a good relationship with Donald Trump. Apart from his involvement in WWE storylines in the past, Trump also appointed Linda McMahon as the administrator of the Small Business Administration during his first presidential term.

Reports suggest that McMahon would be joining the new Trump cabinet as well, this time serving as the leader of the Department of Commerce.

There is also a lot of chatter about how Trump’s win will affect the ongoing investigations against Vince McMahon. You can check out our analysis on how the former WWE chairman can benefit from Trump’s presidency here.

Backstage WWE Reaction To Streaming Issues During Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson

0

The November 15 Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight created a lot of buzz around the world and both positive and negative reactions poured in from people online.

For WWE fans, the event brought a different kind of concern. A lot of viewers faced streaming issues for the show on Netflix, which made people wonder how things will play out when Raw is broadcasted live from the streaming platform every week starting this January.

Fightful Select spoke to people within WWE immediately after the fight. They were told that the company has been assured that the issues would be kept ‘kept at a minimum’ for their Netflix move.

One higher-up also said that if WWE ever did the type of traffic the unprecedented boxing match did, that would be a good problem to have. Raw currently averages between 1.5 million to 2 million viewers every week on USA Network.

The final streaming numbers for the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson event have not been released but the Netflix overnight data suggests that over 60 million households tuned in for the fight. While 50 million households tuned in for the co-main event of Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2, potentially making it the most-watched professional women’s sporting event in history.

Netflix also apparently showed the new Monday Night Raw logo while promoting the show’s debut during the Friday night event, which you can check out at this link.

Bayley Explains How Heel Turn Helped Save Her Career

0

Bayley believes her heel turn was vital for the longevity of her career.

The former Women’s Champion found a lot of success as a relatable babyface in NXT and then on the main roster starting in 2012. After 7 years of being a fan favorite, Bayley turned heel for the first time in late 2019.

Unlike a lot of wrestlers, the wrestling veteran used the opportunity to change a lot of things about her presentation. She debuted a new look and even got rid of her signature Bayley Buddies.

The WWE star talked about this change during an interview with Pro Wrestling Experience while promoting the upcoming Royal Rumble event in Indianapolis. Bayley explained that the heel turn was good for her career because her babyface character would not have survived during the pandemic era:

“I think about times like during the pandemic, I don’t know if that character would have been able to last through the pandemic and have the type of success that I did then.

So I always credit them [for] allowing me to have that moment and them allowing me to explore my growth because I didn’t feel that what I was doing at the time was gonna extend my career any longer. So I knew I needed to turn that page and just make something different happen.”

I Wanted To Do Everything: Bayley

The former NXT star mentioned that she does feel like she lost a genuine connection with fans when she turned heel. Bayley admitted that she wonders where she would be if she had never made the turn. The character however, also afforded her the opportunity to do some things that she always wanted to do:

“As a fan, I wanted to do everything. I want to be a bad guy, I want to be a good guy, I wanna get married in WWE. I want to have all the crazy storylines, so that was the first taste of doing something different for myself. I catered to a lot of the fans coming in, but that was something I felt I needed for my career, so I don’t regret that at all.”

Bayley formed the villainous group Damage CTRL during her heel run back in July 2022. The group led to the female star turning face once again earlier this year after she won the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match and challenged IYO SKY for the title.

Survivor Series 2024: Early Start Time & Historic Return to Vancouver

0

This month’s WWE Survivor Series premium live event will feature an earlier start time, similar to WWE Bad Blood last month. On Saturday, November 30, 2024, WWE Survivor Series: War Games will stream live on Peacock, beginning at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT / 11 PM GMT from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

This event marks WWE’s first premium live event in Vancouver since 1998, when WWF Rock Bottom: In Your House was held at the same venue, then called General Motors Place.

WWE Survivor Series Matches

Men’s WarGames Match: Team OG Bloodline (Roman Reigns, The Usos, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn and a final partner TBA) vs. Team Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Bronson Reed).

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Damian Priest

WWF Rock Bottom Results

WWF Rock Bottom: In Your House, held on December 13, 1998, featured several exciting matches that showcased the talent of various wrestlers in the WWF.

  • Gillberg defeated Matt Hardy to retain the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship (1:02)
  • D’Lo Brown & Mark Henry defeated Supply and Demand (5:54)
  • The Headbangers defeated The Oddities (6:29)
  • Steve Blackman defeated Owen Hart (8:38)
  • The Brood (Christian, Edge & Gangrel) defeated The J.O.B. Squad (Al Snow, Bob Holly & Scorpio) (9:34)

  • Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Undertaker in a Buried Alive match (16:25)

Bronson Reed Joins Team Bloodline For WarGames at Survivor Series

0

Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline has recruited their fifth member for the upcoming WarGames match and it might be a matter of huge concern for Roman Reigns and his teammates.

This week’s episode of SmackDown from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin featured Sikoa and his cousins in a segment. Sikoa took the mic and asked Milwaukee to acknowledge him.

Roman Reigns then came out with Sami Zayn and The Usos and the two sides got into a brawl. Reigns took out Solo with a spear and then he came face to face with Jacob Fatu in the ring as others fought outside.

Before the Tribal Chief could get his hands on the Samoan Werewolf however, Bronson Reed attacked him from behind, revealing himself as the fifth member of the team consisting of Solo, Fatu, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.

The two teams then continued the brawl for a while. The segment finally ended with Reed and others standing tall after the former delivered a Tsunami to Roman Reigns:

Who Will Join Roman Reigns?

This wasn’t the only major development in the Bloodline story tonight. After getting beaten up during the brawl segment, the Usos urged Roman Reigns to ‘make the call.’

SmackDown then ended with a backstage segment where Roman finally decided to call his ‘Wiseman’ Paul Heyman. The call couldn’t connect, however, and Roman got an automated message saying that the number was out of service.

This segment makes things very interesting as Roman’s group is still one member short for WarGames. The big question now is if Paul Heyman will return before Survivor Series on November 30 and help them find a suitable name to finally complete the team.

New WWE Raw Logo Shown on Netflix During Paul vs Tyson

0

The new logo for WWE Monday Night Raw heading into the Netflix era has apparently been revealed. WWE’s flagship show is set to leave the Cable network for the first time in history and become a streaming exclusive this January.

During the most recent Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight event that aired live on the streaming platform, the company promoted this move with what appeared to be a new logo for the show. Please note that WWE has not confirmed the logo change officially as of this writing:

There are a lot of questions on what changes Raw will see when it leaves USA Network. The expected length of the show is one of the biggest discussion points among the fans.

Though with the streaming service not having the same restrictions as cable, it’s very much possible that the length of the show will vary from week to week depending on storylines and angles.

There is also curiosity about the inclusion of more mature themes into the programming, as Netflix will come with a lot more freedom when it comes to choosing the subject matter for the show.

Stars such as Roman Reigns and Dominik Mysterio, however, have advocated for the programming to remain more consistent with recent years. They seem to believe that a drastic change will not be the right move.

Watch What Happened With Braun Strowman After SmackDown

0

Braun Strowman helped out LWO against Judgment Day after this week’s episode of SmackDown from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin went off air.

The dark main event after this week’s show saw Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee challenging Finn Balor and JD McDonagh for the tag team championships.

Carlito who was at the ringside for the champions interrupted the bout mid-way. When the group tried to take advantage of their numbers and attack the challengers, Braun Strowman came out to make the save.

The Monster Among Men ended up joining Lee and Mysterio and the match was converted into a six men tag. The former Universal Champion picked up the victory for his team in the end and the babyfaces stood tall to end the night:

After WWE SmackDown (11/15/24)

The November 15 WWE tapings featured a lot of noteworthy moments, this included the crowning of a new Speed Champion before SmackDown in a match that will air later in the month.

Shinsuke Nakamura also made his first TV appearance since April. He attacked a current champion, indicating that he has championship gold in his mind.

After Bronson Reed was revealed as The 5th member of Solo Sikoa’s WarGames team, Roman Reigns tried to reach out to his wise man but got an automated response instead.

Roman Reigns Calls Paul Heyman On (11/15) SmackDown, Gets Automated Message

0

WWE has teased Paul Heyman’s return to TV, though there might still be some road bumps in the way of his reunion with Roman Reigns.

The Tribal Chief has successfully reassembled the original Bloodline ahead of his WarGames match with Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline at Survivor Series. They are still one member short of the requirement for the upcoming match, however.

The group of Reigns, Sami Zayn and the Usos will need a real powerhouse to counter Bronson Reed who was revealed as the fifth member of the opposite team during the November 15 SmackDown.

Reigns apparently felt the need to bring Heyman back into the fold after Reed took him out during the show. He was seen calling The Wise Man after the main event. Unfortunately for the former World Champion, the call failed to connect and it was revealed that the number was not in service anymore:

Paul Heyman was last seen on WWE TV during the June 28th episode of SmackDown. Heyman refused to acknowledge Solo as the Tribal Chief and was subsequently taken out by Sikoa and his cousins.

Elsewhere in the show, we saw Sami Zayn trying to recruit US Champion LA Knight as the fifth member of their WarGames team. Knight, however, refused the offer before being attacked by a returning star.

With only 2 more episodes of SmackDown to go before Survivor Series on November 30, the big question is who will finally join Roman and his allies in the upcoming battle and if Heyman will play a role in finding the final member.

Can Donald Trump pardon Vince McMahon’s legal woes away? Some, but, not all of them

0

With Donald Trump again president-elect, and Linda McMahon working on his transition team and expected to head the Department of Commerce, wrestling media has broadly speculated that a pardon for Vince McMahon is likely to occur.

Trump has the power to pardon McMahon, even though he hasn’t been formally charged or indicted in a federal sexual assault, rape and sex trafficking investigation that’s been ongoing for over a year, and despite the conflict of interest in Trump’s relationship with McMahon which has last 40 years and McMahon’s wife Linda being a former Small Business Administration head in Trump’s last administration.

What Trump can’t do is pardon McMahon from any civil court proceedings, such as the lawsuit filed against him by Janel Grant, or any state or local criminal proceedings. This would include the civil action filed against him, Linda McMahon and TKO in Maryland last month by four survivors of the WWF Ring Boy scandal.

Why can presidents pardon convicted criminals or those charged with federal crimes?

Presidents receive pardon powers directly from the U.S. Constitution. In Article II, Section II, the president “shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Pardon power dates back to English common law of mercy, when royalty could pardon certain people sentenced for crimes.

Presidents can pardon people who have been convicted or are facing federal criminal charges. This is where McMahon enters the picture since he’s being investigated by the FBI and a federal grand jury in Manhattan for sex crimes.

Trump could also commute McMahon’s sentence if he’s indeed indicted by a federal grand jury and is found guilty in court.

Trump and his previous pardons

Pardons are inherently political and many are controversial.

The most notable pardon in U.S. history, President Gerald Ford pardoned former President Richard Nixon early in his term. Nixon had resigned following the Watergate scandal and was replaced by Ford, the sitting Vice President.

Ford felt it best to pardon Nixon and not put the country through the trial of a recent president. The pardon and a rough debate performance (Warsaw was in fact, not happy with the Soviet occupation of Poland, Mr. Ford) were key factors in his loss to Jimmy Carter, showing the political damage a pardon could have on the president.

Some pardons seek to give justice to those who were denied it. This was the case when Trump pardoned Jack Johnson. Johnson became the first African-American world heavyweight boxing champion during the height of Jim Crowe in the early 1900s. He was convicted by an all-white jury in 1913 for violating the Mann Act when he was traveling with his white girlfriend between states, violating a law that forbid traveling with women across states with the intent of “immoral purposes.”

Trump, a boxing fan, had pardoned Johnson with support of actor Sylvester Stallone and after decades of outcry from Civil Rights activitists. The pardoned occurred over 100 years after his conviction.

Other Trump pardons included people convicted of various drug offenses.

Charles Kushner, a slumlord and father of Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, was sentenced to 24 months in prison in what then U.S. Attorney General Chris Christie called “one of the most disgusting crimes he had ever prosecuted. Kushhner was convicted after he lured his brother-in-law (who was informing on Kushner to the FBI in a tax-evasion case) to a hotel, hired a prostitute to lure him into sex and recording it in hopes of using it as leverage on his brother-in-law.

Trump saved most of his pardons for his inner circle of political operatives – Steve Bannon, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Michael Flynn had been charged or convicted of various crimes involving acting as international agents or other acts that benefited his campaign. He pardoned the four as he left office with little to no backing to show they deserved being pardoned. All four continue to be involved in his political operations and are part of his inner-circle, unlike the McMahons.

Can Trump pardon Vince McMahon?

Yes, and no.

Trump could pardon McMahon from the criminal investigation he’s facing in the Southern District of New York.

Trump cannont pardon McMahon in any state or local criminal cases or from any civil federal cases, like the Janel Grant suit. The Grant suit is currently on a stay at the request of federal investigators. The stay is scheduled to end on Dec. 11.

Trump cannot pardon businesses or companies. If World Wrestling Entertainment, TKO or any other company were to be charged in a criminal action, Trump couldn’t pardon the company.

He also can’t pardon anyone who has been impeached.

McMahon pardon could be risky for Trump

Whether Trump does pardon Vince, the potential fallout from public opinion could be a major factor. Manafort, Bannon, Stone and Flynn were highly controversial figures, but they aren’t accused of anything as seriuos as McMahon. According to the Wall Street Journal, McMahon is being investigated for sex trafficking, rape and sex assault. Public opinion is powerful and a pardon of McMahon would be extremely controversial, morseso than someone who commited white collar crimes or something related to the election.

The risk is real. President Bill Clinton pardoned former Wall Street wonderboy Mark Rich during his final day in office. Rich was charged with 51 counts of tax fraud along with numerous other crimes when he fled prosecution and flew to Switzerland. Rich’s ex-wife had been a large donor to Clinton’s campaign and his presidential library. The pardon beame the most controversial since Nixon’s.

The pardon was heavily criticized by media and politicians in both parties, including President Jimmy Carter, former Clinton associate Terry McAulife and former Clinton campaign manager James Carville. Brookings called the Rich pardon “the final outrage.” Rich and other pardons on Clinton’s last day in office were referred to later as “Pardongate.”

Clinton was investigated for the Rich pardon to see if there was evidence he had been “bought off” by Rich’s ex-wife, but investigators concluded this wasn’t the case.

Case law history on Presidential pardon powers, Congressional legislation and the separation of powers

The interpretation of presidential pardon power is known as “plenary,” meaning broad. Trump has much sway with how he issues pardons, but he’s limited to federal criminal cases.

Presidential pardons have been revoked – twice. The first occurred in 1869 when outgoing President Johnson issued a pardon (ironically, a case handled in the Southern District of New York, where Trump was convicted on 34 felony charges last year and the same court investigating McMahon) which wasn’t completed when he left office. Incoming President U.S. Grant revoked the pardon once he came into office.

President George W. Bush revoked his own pardon in 2008. Bush pardoned Issac Toussie, a New York property and real estate developer who was convicted of mail fraud and making false statements to a government agency. After the pardon, the Bush administration learned Toussie’s father made a $38,000 donation to the Republican party. After outcry from the media, the pardon – which had been issued but not completed – was revoked by Bush himself.

It’s unlikely the Supreme Court would take action to limit Trump’s pardon power after it ruled earlier this year that Trump had “absolute immunity” from criminal prosecutions after he was out of office for actions he took while in the office of the President. The current court, which ended Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs decision, has taken a broad view on presidential power in other cases.

This doesn’t mean Trump couldn’t face an investigation if there were public pressure and if the circumstnaces around the pardon called for it. The Mark Rich pardon was the case of a president being suspected of being paid for a presidential pardon. He was ultimately cleared.

Two Supreme Court cases set the broad power standard of the presidential pardon – both date to the post-Civil War era and the Andrew Johnson administration.

Ex Parte Garland, an 1866 case, a federal law passed by the US after the Civil War required a loyalty oath from any federal court officer stating they had never served with the Confederacy.

Augustus Garland challenged the law after he received a pardon from President Andrew Johnson, who succeeded President Abraham Lincoln. The ruling stated the loyalty oath law was unconstitutional in a 5-4 decision. The ruling’s legacy established the president’s pardon power could occur anytime after a crime had occurred.

The other key case was U.S. v. Klein in 1871. In 1870, Congress prohibited the president from using a pardon to allow a former member of the Confederacy to claim proceeds from having their property or estate sold. Klein went to court after the death of a relative, asking for the proceeds from the estate. The Supreme Court ruled Congress had no right to limit the president’s pardon powers and violated the Separation of Powers between the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches.

Spoiler: Andrade Loses WWE Speed Championship Before SmackDown

0

A new WWE Speed Champion has been crowned at Friday’s WWE taping from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, ending the reign of Andrade.

WWE taped the latest episode of WWE Speed before Friday’s SmackDown. It saw the current champion defending his title against Dragon Lee.

The LWO member would end up winning the bout, ending Andrade’s Championship reign at 152 days and earning his second singles title in WWE:

Andrade had defeated the inaugural WWE Speed Champion Ricochet to win the title back in June. The One and Only held the belt for 42 days before dropping it to the Mexican star and exiting the company.

WWE Speed Title matches generally air on Fridays before PPVs so it’s likely that we will see this title change ahead of the Survivor Series: WarGames event on November 30.

This wasn’t the only notable moment of the night. The SmackDown broadcast also saw the return of Shinsuke Nakamura who had been absent from WWE programming since April.

Nakamura attacked US Champion LA Knight after his successful title defense against Humberto. This suggests that Shinsuke will be going after the title in the coming times.

WWE also revealed the brackets for the announced tournament to crown the new Women’s US Champion on the show. You can check it out here.

AEW star Britt Baker is stepping into a new arena as part of Netflix’s Cobra Kai. Baker plays a fighter on the Tiger Strike team in the show’s final planned season, which continues the story of The Karate Kid film series. Fans can catch her in multiple episodes, featuring intense fight sequences filmed prior to her AEW return over the summer.

Baker’s AEW comeback was intentionally delayed to accommodate her work on the series. Notably, Cobra Kai star Martin Kove (John Kreese) has previously made appearances alongside Baker on AEW television, further solidifying the crossover appeal.

Netflix has split the final season into two parts. The first batch of episodes sets the stage for an epic tournament, and the second batch premieres on Friday.

Britt Baker’s AEW Return

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Baker returned to action after being sidelined for a month due to strep throat. She secured a victory over Penelope Ford in a singles match. Post-match, Serena Deeb confronted Baker, hinting at a potential rivalry brewing between the two.

For fans of both AEW and Cobra Kai, Baker’s dual appearances on TV promise a thrilling mix of action and drama.
