Jake “the Snake” Roberts: Without Vince McMahon I’d Be In Prison

1

Jake “the Snake” Roberts appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience today. The WWE Hall-of-Famer didn’t hold anything back. He talked about his addiction and 3-year rehabilitation program with “Diamond” Dallas Page.

Jake is in a good place now and credits his good health and fortune to the work of Diamond Dallas Page and his DDPY program. Jake also mentioned things could have turned out much differently for him had he not had a successful WWE career, however.

“To go through 25-30 years of doing cocaine, you know?” Roberts said on the show. “I thank Vince McMahon for affording me my addiction because without I’d be in prison somewhere because I’d of killed someone for my drug.”

Jake would continue to say that life meant nothing to him at the time. He felt confident he would have killed someone to feed his addiction if he had needed to.

The Resurrection of Jake “the Snake” Roberts

Roberts moved in with Diamond Dallas Page in 2012. By the time the DDPY team was confident enough in Roberts that he could be on his own, 3 years had passed. He relapsed 4 times while living with Page.

He was also honest about having been sexually abused as a child, something he’s talked about on speaking tours previously. His father, Grizzly Smith, has been accused of some truly terrible crimes, including sexually abusing Jake’s sister, and former WWF Women’s Champion, Rockin Robin as a child.

Jake Roberts On Coming Up With His Gimmick

“I came up with this idea on in 1975,” Roberts said on the Snake gimmick. “I was watching Monday Night Football and they were talking about Kenny Stabler, who played for the Oakland Raiders.”

The Raiders QB was nicknamed Kenny “the Snake” Stabler and Roberts said he liked the fact Stabler liked to party and he liked the nickname. Jake continued to say Mid-South wouldn’t allow him to bring a snake to the ring, however. He would have to wait until signing with WWF in 1986 before he was able to do so.

As per any Joe Rogan show, they get side-tracked quite a bit. Noted wrestling fan and comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe also appeared on the show.

Update On Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi Bullet Club Status

0

Cody, Hangman Page, the Young Bucks, Marty Scurll, and Kenny Omega are no longer part of Bullet Club. They announced the news officially on Chris Jericho’s cruise after months of speculation. The status of Bullet Club Elite members, Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi, is not as clear, however.

Owens and Takahashi were partnered with Bullet Club Elite after the Firing Squad attack in San Francisco. There has been some dissension shown between the two and Kota Ibushi on recent tours, however. Ibushi has refused to engage in underhanded tactics along with them during matches and offered up high-fives instead of “2-sweet’ing” them. Still, Owens and Takahashi are officially aligned with the Elite on the NJPW roster.

Following news that other Bullet Club Elite members were leaving the faction, Chase Owens Tweeted the following:

Owens has previously claimed to be from Tonga as well, though the validity of this cannot be confirmed. Regardless, Owens doesn’t appear to be dropping his Bullet Club affiliation.

Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi Bullet Club Status

Hangman Page and Yujiro Takahashi are teaming together in the World Tag League. Page addressed the division of wrestlers amongst the two factions with Takahashi on the most recent edition of “Being the Elite”.

“What’s up with Elite B*lls**t?” Takahashi asked Page on the show. “Am I supposed to be in it?”

Page then admitted to Takahashi that they figured he’d be booked to be with the BCOG faction.

“That’s not really up to me,” Page responded. “We kind of thought you’d be booked to be with the Tongans, to be honest. Maybe that’s why they don’t trust you completely yet.”

“I saw in the dirt sheet you guys are going to be sticking together?” Takahashi then asked.

Page then said the Elite had indeed made a pact but Takahashi warned him not to trust those, “greedy m**f**s”.

It sounds like Takahashi is warning Page about his fellow Elite stablemates. We’ll likely have to wait until 2019 to see what happens with Owens and Takahashi, however.

Johnny Impact On Rivalry With Killer Kross, Title Defense Against Brian Cage

0

Johnny Impact was voted off of Survivor on the latest episode. He’s still the Impact World Champion, however. Johnny was also the guest on this week’s Impact Press Pass media call. He commented on his ongoing rivalry with Killer Kross and scheduled title defense against Brian Cage at Homecoming.

Johnny Impact On Rivalry With Killer Kross & Title Defense Against Brian Cage

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Johnny Impact turned down Killer Kross’ offer to watch his back. I asked Johnny if he gave Kross’ offer any second thoughts after finding out Brian Cage will be cashing in “Option C” at Homecoming.

“Brian Cage is no joke and him cashing in Option C to me just says that he wants the Impact World Championship more than anything,” Johnny said. “He gave up his title for a shot at me at Homecoming.”

Johnny Impact (c) vs Brian Cage for the Impact World Championship has been made official for the PPV.

Johnny continued to say he just doesn’t want Kross anywhere near him, his wife, or his dog. Based on what happened last week, however, it’s likely Kross continues to involve himself in Johnny’s business, even as Johnny prepares for Brian Cage.

“Honestly, would you rather have a sociopath anywhere near you or backstage out of the match completely?” Johnny asked.

“I don’t understand what (Killer Kross’) motivation is. For all I know, he could be trying to garner my trust just to kick me in the back of the head again,” he continued. “I would rather deal with the devil I know, ‘the Machine’ Brian Cage, then the devil I don’t understand, Killer Kross.”

Homecoming takes place January 6th, 2019 from the Nashville Fairgrounds (aka the Asylum).

Becky Lynch Owns WWE Over Error In Social Media Post

3

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch is keeping WWE’s social media department on their toes. She recently pointed out one mistake that was sent out to their followers on Twitter.

As seen in the Twitter post, Lynch pointed out that WWE wrote, “This Champion vs. Champion match got way more intense than we thought.” Obviously, that is a mistake.

Former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair took on RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in the co-headliner of Survivor Series pay-per-view event in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center on the WWE Network. Rousey ended up winning the non-title match by DQ.

Originally, Lynch was supposed to face Rousey. However, that got nixed once she was involved in a brawl on last week’s RAW that saw Nia Jax punch her in the face. As a result, she suffered a broken nose and concussion. This led to WWE officials making the call to pull Lynch from her scheduled champion vs. champion match.

Lynch pointed out the error made by the company when she wrote, “As much as you’d love it not to be the case, I am the champion, The Man, the one you didn’t plan for – and nothing makes me happier.”

Injury Update on Hiromu Takahashi

0

There appears to be an update on former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi. Updates from NJPW on his condition have been scarce up to this point. The promotion announced shortly after the initial injury that Takahashi was awake and conscious. The company later confirmed that he had been transported back to Japan.

Dave Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer at the time that “The New Japan doctors believe it will be nine to 12 months before he can return. The belief is that he suffered a broken neck, which sounds terrible and that’s why nobody has said anything public.”

Twitter account @corpsecaptain has been reporting that Takahashi is now at “93% recovery.” The full tweet reads as follows:

Interestingly Takahashi is now up to 207 pounds, meaning he would be out of the Junior Division. Whether he intends on heading into the Heavyweight picture remains to be seen. The return date for Hiromu is now far more exciting than originally expected, a return as early as New Year Dash is even possible if the report is to be believed. There’s a more likely chance that Hiromu is available for the New Beginning tour or even Best of The Super Juniors (if he meets weight) or Dominion 2019.

Footage of Smackdown Live Superstar’s Return to ICW Released

0

ICW had confirmed that a WWE Superstar would be appearing as part of their Garage show a week ago. The company had not revealed who will be appearing but did confirm beforehand that they would be in action against ICW’s Mikey Whiplash.

The WWE Superstar in question was Smackdown Live’s Killian Dain. The ‘Beast of Belfast’ made his return to ICW’s Fight Club to a rapturous reception from the ICW faithful. Previously known as Big Damo, the Belfast born Superstar was originally part of the company from 2013 to 2016. Dain actually won the company’s World Heavyweight Championship back in Belfast on 27 February 2016, this was the first time that the title changed hands outside of Glasgow and made Dain the first ever Irish-born champion.

Killian Dain’s Sanity stable returned to Smackdown Live recently. The team had originally been brought to the main roster without Nikki Cross. The November 6th edition of Smackdown saw Cross rejoin the group during a segment with WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

ICW will be presenting their Fear & Loathing XI event on December 2nd. ‘Loathing is the biggest event in ICW’s year and some big names are on hand for the event. WWE’s Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and 205 Live Superstar Noam Dar will all be part of the show.

PROGRESS World Champion WALTER Wants New Challenger (12/09)

0

PROGRESS World Champion WALTER has set a Championship bout for December 9th. PROGRESS will be heading to the O2 Academy in Sheffield for Chapter 81 on that date.

WALTER took to Twitter and stated that “will be defending my PROGRESS World Title in Sheffield on December 9th. I have beaten everyone on the roster. Wrestlers around the world: Who wants to fight me on that date? I’ll consider the best challenge and speak with management.”

There’s no names yet confirmed but the phrase “I have beaten everyone on the roster” is rather telling. WWE and PROGRESS are reportedly working together and there is a chance that a star from WWE or NXT makes their way over to the UK for the event, although it isn’t likely.

IMPACT’s LAX promotion will also be on hand for the event, they had an incredible bout with CCK at the Coast to Coast tour earlier this year and this will be their UK debut.

Hurricane Helms Critical Of GCW For David Arquette Booking

2

Hurricane Helms is not happy with how David Arquette was booked at the Game Changers Wrestling PPV over the weekend. Arquette was filling in for an injured Joey Ryan and was busted open pretty badly in a hardcore match with Nick Gage.

Arquette made a public statement that he’ll no longer be participating in any deathmatches. He said he has nothing but respect for Gage, Joey Janela, and the rest of the team from GCW.

Helms made his comments in response to Arquette’s statement.

“Regardless of whether you wanted to do it or not, that’s shitty and irresponsible booking,” Helms Tweeted.

22-year-old Marko Stunt broke his fibula in a match with Eli Everfly on the show as well. Joey Janela injured his knee in several places on a September 21st GCW event in a match against Psychosis. Janela was diving from the ring ropes to the floor when the injury occurred.

Hurricane Helms on David Arquette’s Deathmatch

Helms continued to comment on Arquette’s booking as his followers responded to his initial comments.

“They put a barely trained guy in a death match that resulted in him being hospitalized. Does someone actually have to die before you admit that that was irresponsible? And of course they took advantage of his name, they wouldn’t have booked him in the main otherwise.”

Helms continued:

And finally:

“Think that would happen if it was Billy Bob from the ant farm? Did TMZ cover Marko’s injury like they did DA’s?”

Bully Ray On Why He Thinks Fans Cheered Charlotte Flair Over Ronda Rousey

3

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray discussed a certain match during a reason episode of Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM.

That match was a non-title contest between WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at the Survivor Series pay-per-view event in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center on the WWE Network. Rousey beat Flair by DQ.

The finish of the match saw Flair hit Rousey with a kendo stick to cause the DQ. She would then beat down Rousey after the match with the stick. After the match, fans were cheering for Flair while booing Rousey.

Ray brought up how the reason he thinks they were cheering Flair over Rousey while due to Becky Lynch and how it had more to do with Lynch than the other two stars. Lynch was originally supposed to face Flair but was pulled due to injuries.

The WWE Hall of Famer stated that WWE tried to make you forget about Lynch going into this match but Lynch went out of her way to make sure that they didn’t and that’s why the fans were living through Flair in that match. He thinks that everyone thought Flair was Lynch’s girl due to the angle on SmackDown Live leading into Survivor Series.

“The hug and the endorsement is what got those people behind Charlotte because if Becky says it’s okay to love Charlotte. Then we’ll love Charlotte all over again.” Ray continued, “What Charlotte did last night should have got her booed out of the building. It was the exact opposite, and it was because of Becky Lynch.”

Impressive AJ Styles Streak Was Snapped At WWE Survivor Series

0

Former WWE Champion AJ Styles had an impressive ongoing streak before Sunday’s (November 18, 2018) Survivor Series pay-per-view event in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center on the WWE Network. However, it’s now no longer in place as it has been snapped.

Originally, Styles was supposed to face WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a champion vs. champion match. This changed once Styles lost the title to Daniel Bryan in the main event of last week’s episode of SmackDown Live in St. Louis, MO at the Enterprise Center.

Cageside Seats has been tracking an interesting stat. That was Styles wrestling at the most consecutive PPV events on the WWE roster. The rules of this stat were for a star to wrestle on the main card of PPV events while Evolution and the events in Saudi Arabia were not counted if the talent didn’t compete. Thus, Styles had wrestled at 34 straight PPV events that he has been eligible for. Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins currently sits at 18 straight events which is second among the roster.

WWE has yet to announce when Styles will get his rematch for the WWE Title against Bryan. It could come as early as the next pay-per-view event for the company. WWE presents the TLC pay-per-view event on  Sunday, December 16th, 2018 in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center that will air on the WWE Network.

WWE Interested In Signing ACH

1

WWE is said to have interest in Albert C. Hardle, better known to wrestling fans as ACH. According to a report from PW Insider, the 31-year-old is someone WWE is looking at bringing in when the company announces more signings in January.

The soon to be 31-year-old currently competes in MLW and in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He recently teamed with Ryusuke Taguchi in NJPW’s Super Junior Tag League. Their team finished up the tournament with a 3-4 record.

He left Ring of Honor after a 4-year run with the company in 2016.

ACH and WWE’s Rumored January Signings

ACH is one of several names being thrown around for a rumored batch of WWE signings to take place in January. Last year’s class of January signings included War Machine and Ricochet.

Shane Strickland is another name rumored to be WWE bound in early 2019. The former MLW Champion is reported to be finishing up with his former promotion at the 2-night Fusion tapings in Miami next month.

ACH also competed on the recent Lion’s Break shows in Anaheim. ACH defeated NJPW California young lion Karl Fredricks on the tour before being defeated by Hirooki Goto the next night. He was on MLW’s Fury Road event in October but did not compete at Fightland: Chicago show this month.

Smackdown 11/20 Preview

0

For the 4th night in a row, WWE is back inside Staples Center tonight. Smackdown should be interesting tonight considering how poorly the brand did against the Raw brand at Survivor Series (minus the tag match).

Smackdown 11/20 Preview

WWE is not advertising a segment featuring Shane McMahon yet for tonight. The Smackdown Commissioner did put out the following Tweet after the PPV on Sunday, however, indicating there will be changes made to his brand starting on tonight’s show.

Charlotte Flair Segment

Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey won’t be on the show tonight but they’ll likely be watching this segment closely. Flair will likely explain her vicious assault of Rousey at Survivor Series tonight. Did Charlotte do what she did because she realized she couldn’t beat Rousey? To soften her up for Becky? Or has Flair’s recent frustrations from losing her title caused the old Charlotte Flair to surface? We’ll come closer to finding out answers to these questions tonight.

Daniel Bryan’s Explanation

Daniel Bryan has still refused to answer questions regarding his sudden change in temperament. Bryan uncharacteristically hit AJ low during their WWE Championship match last week and used the advantage to get the pin and win the title. Tonight, Bryan will explain to the WWE Universe why he did what he did. Styles will likely be watching this segment closely if he doesn’t decide to join in.

Thanksgiving Feast Fight
New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, & Xavier Woods) vs the Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) & the Big Show

6-man action with a Thanksgiving gimmick theme to it will take place on Smackdown tonight. The Bar and the New Day will be on opposing sides of the first-ever Thanksgiving Feast Fight.

It might be an interesting time to be in the Smackdown tag-team division. After seeing his match was not included in the official Raw vs Smackdown score from Sunday, Xavier Woods was not pleased.

He also made sure to correct those who were saying Raw won 6-0.

The Usos were the sole survivors of the tag match at Survivor Series. It’ll be interesting to see if they are thrown in the tag title picture after also having defeated New Day in the build-up to the PPV.

Can Shinsuke Nakamura Bounce Back After Losing To Seth Rollins?

Nakamura lost to Seth Rollins at Survivor Series. WWE is advertising that the United States Champion is interested in bouncing back from his PPV loss tonight on Smackdown.

David Arquette Releases Statement On Deathmatch With Nick Gage

2

David Arquette participated in a deathmatch over the weekend. By the sounds of it, the 47-year-old actor turned wrestler won’t be taking part in any further such matches. Arquette released the following statement on the match recently.

https://twitter.com/DavidArquette/status/1064667622560559104

Arquette suffered several cuts, including to his neck, though it does not appear any of his injuries are serious. He was taken to the hospital after the match, however.

“As some of you might have seen, last week I was injured in a wrestling death match. I wanted to make sure to address the photos and videos that have surfaced from the event, as this is not the type of wrestling you watch on TV,” Arquette Tweeted. “I knew it was violent and potentially bloody, but I truly did not know the extent of what I was participating in.”

David Arquette DeathMatch

Images of a bloodied David Arquette made its way onto mainstream media outlets, prompting the response from Arquette. He was filling in for the injured Joey Ryan on the Game Changer Wrestling event.

Last week, TMZ reporters caught up with Arquette, who insisted his pro-wrestling return is not an attempt to get into WWE.

“WWE’s not the goal,” Arquette said to TMZ. “I mean, I love WWE. I would love to do anything with them ever, but my main goal is getting some respect. That really was what it’s about.”

Independent wrestling up-and-comer, Marko Stunt, was also injured at the event. Stunt broke his fibula while wrestling Eli Everfly and underwent surgery for the injury yesterday.

Shawn Michaels Opens Up On Decision To Shave His Head

13

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels discussed the new look that he showed off in the lead up to his latest match under the WWE banner during an appearance on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness. He decided to shave his head and that got a lot of WWE fans talking as a result of it.

He teamed up with Triple H to beat The Undertaker and Kane in a tag team match at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2, 2018, at King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This match ended up being the main event of this show.

Michaels stated that before this storyline began, he was doing this independent movie in Texas where he had to make some changes to his look. “I played a younger version with my hair and then I played an older version of me that got sick and everything else” Thus, the reason why he ended up shaving his head, it was purely for the movie. Then, he got called by WWE to do this match and thought that since Triple H has his head bald, he’ll just keep the look.

“And It was thinning up there anyway, man, and so it was better to just chop it all off.” Michaels stated. The WWE Legend added that his wife likes it and having short hair is much easier to manage.

This match marked the first time that Michaels had wrestled a match since losing a retirement match to Taker at WrestleMania 26 in 2010. It will be interesting to see if Michaels works another match again.

Just last month, WWE announced that Cena would be featured in the World Cup tournament at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event on November 2nd, 2018 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Saud University Stadium and didn’t have to qualify to be part in this tournament.

Instead, he would be featured in the bracket of matches that takes place at this event. That all changed once it was revealed that he would not be competing at this event and instead, replaced by Bobby Lashley.

Cena was most recently active under the WWE banner when he wrestled at WWE Super Show-Down pay-per-view event.

Before this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE announced that Staples Center has decided to donate $10,000 to Children’s Health of Dallas.

The company released a press release and announced that they are making the donation on behalf of the former Universal Champion at his request:

“The STAPLES Center in Los Angeles has made a generous donation of $10,000 in Roman Reigns’ name to Children’s Health Dallas at The Big Dog’s request. The venue, which is hosting the third of four consecutive nights of WWE action with tonight’s Raw, showed its appreciation for WWE by making the donation to the charity of Reigns’ choice.”
