1

205 Live last night took place inside Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit Michigan. Three matches took place on the show and several challengers made a play to get a crack at Cedric Alexander’s Cruiserweight Championship.

205 Live 9/4 Results

Gran Metalik defeated Tony Nese

Metalik defeated Nese with an elbow off the top rope. A needed win for the Lucha House Party after Kalisto dropped last week’s main event to Nese’s training partner, Buddy Murphy.

The rest of the Lucha House Party members came out to celebrate after Metalik’s win.

Backstage:

  • Mustafa Ali and Drake Maverick had a talk in the back. Ali made fun of Maverick’s AOP gear from Monday night. Maverick told Ali he’s not ready to return from injury yet but Ali disagreed.

Noam Dar defeated Brian Kelly

Before this match could get started, Lio Rush’s music hit and he sauntered his way down to the ring area. Dar still won the squash match with little trouble. He finished him off with a running leg lariat.

Rush got up on the commentary booth after the match and clapped for Dar. The Scottish Supernova invited the 23-year-old piece of gold into the ring but Rush declined.

Cedric Alexander defeated TJP

Even though Cedric Alexander’s next title defense is scheduled to be against Buddy Murphy at Super Show-down on October 6th, he’s still got unfinished business with several on the roster.

Alexander attempted to call-out Gulak for his frequent attacks but TJP came out instead. TJP said he wasn’t very good at waiting in line. They agreed to a non-title match, which Alexander won via Lumbar-Check.

After the match, Drew Gulak finally came out to answer Alexander’s call-out. While Alexander was paying attention to him, however, Jack Gallagher attacked him from behind. Gulak locked in the Gu-Lock. Maverick came out and forced Gulak and Gallagher to leave the ring area as the show came to a close.

Titus O’Neil Collecting Boycotted Nike Shoes For Charity

6

There are some sports fans currently upset with shoe-manufacturer Nike right now. The brand announced a partnership with former San Fransico 49er Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. Evidently, this has led to some Nike customers boycotting the company and getting rid of their current Nike products.

Titus O’Neil is able to get those Nike shoes and clothes to people who could use them. He’s asking anyone who no longer want their Nike products to donate them to him.

Titus O’Neil Charitable Work

O’Neil does a lot of charity work in the Tampa Bay area. He’s helped 245 student-athletes in the area get into college. Titus has also been involved in the United Way’s program to walk kids from high-risk areas to school every day. The program strives to make sure at-risk youth attend school and gain access to a healthy breakfast.

In 2015, he was given the MEGA Dad Award for “Celebrity Dad of the Year”.

Dana Brooke Gone From Titus Worldwide

Titus Worldwide lost a member this week. After she was distracted by her own teammates at ringside on Raw, Dana Brooke was rolled up and pinned by Sasha Banks.

Brooke has since decided it is time for her and Titus Worldwide to part ways. Following her loss on Raw, Brooke posted the following:

It looks as though Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews are now on their own Monday nights.

Did WWE Officials Know About Chris Jericho’s All In Appearance?

4

While Chris Jericho was originally only expected to make one appearance for NJPW at their Wrestle Kingdom 12 event, things have escalated quickly.

After winning the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, Jericho is not only expected to make a few more appearances for the Japan-based promotion, but there are also talks of him possibly making his Impact debut in near future.

And if that’s not enough; the former World Champion surprised everyone by making an appearance at the All In event where he attacked Kenny Omega and set up the Alpha vs. Omega II for his upcoming cruise.

During the latest episode of his Pwinsider Elite Audio, Mike Johnson talked about Jericho’s All In appearance and speculated that the WWE officials were not aware of it.

According to him, as soon as Chris appeared on the screen, people from the company started messaging him, asking if it was really Y2J making an appearance at the show.

Continuing on the topic, Johnson speculated that since his NJPW appearance didn’t phase the company, Chris Jericho will try sometime else to see if it affects the Officials.

Though it’s worth mentioning here that Chris has talked about his relationship with Vince McMahon and how he will not risk it for anything in the past multiple times.

So it’s entirely possible that Jericho made McMahon aware of his plans but asked him to keep it secret from other officials, and only after seeing Vince’s reaction, he agreed to make an appearance at the indie event.

SmackDown Sees Poor Attendance, WWE To Tape New Year Episode Of Raw?

SmackDown Sees Poor Attendance

WWE has not only seen a decline in the Television viewership of their shows in the past year but the company has also been struggling to draw a live audience to their events.

In the last twelve months, both Raw and SmackDown have seen poor live audience a number of times, and it appears the same was the case for this week’s episode of the Blue Branded Show as well.

A fan in attendance posted the following photo of this week’s SmackDown Live, where the hard camera side is visibly empty and he noted that almost 40% of the seats in the arena were tarped off:

WWE To Tape New Year Episode Of Raw?

This year was the first time WWE decided to do Live shows for both the Christmas and New Year’s edition of Monday Night Raw and it was noted that a lot of stars were not happy with this arrangement.

Though it appears that the company will return to its regular schedule and at least tape the New Year edition of the Red Branded Show beforehand.

Little Caesars Arena recently made a tweet, inviting fans to attend a special edition of Raw on December 28th. This most likely is the date for the tapings of the December 31th edition of the show:

Odd Hell In A Cell Poster, Triple Threat Championship Match After SmackDown

WWE Releases Odd Hell In A Cell Poster

The Monster Among Men Braun Strowman is set to cash in his Money In The Bank contract against Roman Reigns at the upcoming Hell In A Cell PPV, and it was one of the first matches to be announced for the show.

However interestingly, WWE recently released a poster for the upcoming PPV featuring both these men in an odd manner and as seen below, the poster portrays both of them as demons:

39926945 263391274289912 1702677812416086016 n

No word yet on why the company chose to portray these two in such a bizarre way. Hell In A Cell will take place on September 16, 2018, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Triple Threat Championship Match After SmackDown

It appears that there was only one dark match on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and it saw the SmackDown Women’s Championship being defended after the Blue Branded Show and 205 Live went off air.

The match saw the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending her title against both Becky Lynch and Carmella in a triple threat dark main event.

Flair was able to retain her title in the match. It was noted that the former Champion Carmella spent most of the bout outside of the ring, eating popcorns.

2 New Matches Announced For Super Showdown

0

After announcing the Cruiserweight title bout for the Super Showdown last month, WWE has now revealed two new matches for the show, including one for the SmackDown tag team championship.

The first match which has been announced for the show is between the teams of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, collectively known as The IIconics vs. Asuka and Naomi.

This bout was set up during the latest episode of SmackDown Live where IIconics unleashed a 2-on-1 attack on Naomi and making her return to the Blue Branded Show, Asuka made the save.

The second match which has been announced for the event will see the Bar Sheamus and Cesaro challenging the New Day for the trio’s SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

It’s worth mentioning here that The Bar won a triple threat match last week on SmackDown and they are set to face Rusev day next week in a #1 contender match for the SmackDown tag team titles.

So it wouldn’t be a surprise if the former Raw Tag Champs win this bout and end up challenging the New Day for the titles at the upcoming Hell In A Cell PPV as well.

After the announcement, here is the updated WWE Super Showdown match card:

Ric Flair On Who Is The Greatest Babyface Of Pro Wrestling History

0

While many would choose stars like Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold Steve Austin as their top babyfaces in the history of pro wrestling, Ric Flair has a different approach.

The WWE Hall Of Famer, alongside his daughter and the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was recently a guest on the WWE Network series Photo Shoot.

During the episode both the stars were shown a number of photos. While talking about the pictures, Ric went down the memory lane and discussed things like his angle with Randy Savage over Elizabeth and more.

Ric Flair On Who Is The Greatest Babyface Of All Time

When shown a picture of himself and Ricky Steamboat, Flair called Steamboat the greatest babyface of all time. He said that he doesn’t think anyone has had better matches in the history of pro wrestling than Ricky and him.

Recalling his WrestleMania 18 match with the Undertaker, the former World Champion claimed that he had confidence issues over wrestling at the age of 55 and revealed that the Dead Man helped him in restoring his confidence.

Apart from this, Ric Flair also called Dusty Rhodes the most creative mind in Pro Wrestling and Roddy Piper the greatest bad guy in the business.

The full episode of Photo Shoot can be seen at WWE network. You can check out a promo for it featuring both Ric and Charlotte in the video below:

Renee Young kicked off this week’s episode of SmackDown in the ring. She introduced Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella and they joined her for an interview. Footage of last week’s attack by The Miz & Maryse was shown and Renee asked for their reaction.

Bryan stated that they are here and ready for a fight. Brie then challenged The Miz and Maryse to come down to the ring and fight them right now. Renee Young told Bryan & Brie that The Miz and Maryse have already left the arena for the night. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega interrupted and Vega said that Bryan will once again face Almas tonight.

The match started out back and forth. Bryan quickly applied the Yes Lock but Almas made his way to the ropes to break up the hold. Almas went for a running knee but Bryan dove out of the way and Andrade tumbled to the floor outside.

Bryan tried to capitalize with a Crossbody of the ring apron but Almas countered with a Dropkick while Daniel was in midair. The action returned to the ring and Almas once again took control with a Moonsault for a near fall. Daniel battled back with a series of Yes Kicks but Almas ducked under one and bounced Bryan’s face off the top turnbuckle.

Andrade followed that up with Double Knees and then went for the Hammerlock DDT but Bryan escaped. Bryan then quickly hit the running knee for the pinfall victory. After the match, Brie hit Zelina Vega with a running knee and celebrated with Bryan. The Miz and Maryse appeared on the jumbotron from “the best restaurant in Detroit”.

They informed Daniel and Brie that they will have to wait until Hell in a Cell to fight them. Bryan and Brie then headed backstage and said they were going to get dinner at the same restaurant as The Miz & Maryse.

Becky Lynch Vowed To Take The Title From Charlotte At WWE Hell In A Cell

Screen Shot 2018 09 04 at 11.07.34 PM

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were interviewed in separate locations tonight on WWE SmackDown. Flair started off the interviewing by saying that she knows Becky deserved the SmackDown Women’s Championship but she wasn’t just going to lay down for her at SummerSlam.

Becky started talking but Charlotte quickly interrupted and told her that if anyone knows what it is like to live in someone’s shadow, it is her. Flair said that Becky could have come to her and asked for a title match and Becky responded by saying “screw you”.

Becky boasted about standing above Charlotte last week and raising the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Charlotte said that Becky attacked her from behind and dared her to come at her face to face because it would be a different story. Lynch promised Charlotte that she will and added that she is done playing around.

Lynch said that from now on she is taking what she wants and doesn’t care how that affects Charlotte. Lynch claimed that it was a full-time job being Flair’s friend and managing her insecurities. Becky stated that the only thing she cares about now is taking her spot back at the top of the SmackDown women’s division where she belongs. Lynch then vowed that Charlotte will never see the SmackDown Women’s Championship after they face each other at WWE Hell in a Cell.

Asuka Saved Naomi

Naomi battled Peyton Royce tonight on SmackDown. The IIconics cut a promo before the match and poked fun at Naomi. Peyton Royce tried to stall once the match started but couldn’t avoid a massive elbow to the face courtesy of Naomi.

Billie Kay bashed Naomi with a cheap shot while the referee wasn’t paying attention. Royce tried to capitalize with a boot to the face but Naomi dodged it and knocked Peyton to the canvas with an Enziguri.

Naomi took out Billie Kay at ringside and then got back into the ring and attacked Royce. Naomi then flipped onto Peyton with a Sunset Flip from the apron for the quick pinfall victory.

After the match, the IIconics went after Naomi and attacked her. Asuka sprinted for the ring and beat the hell out of Royce and Kay.

AJ Styles Attacked Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe came down to the ring and grabbed the microphone. Joe claimed that WWE Champion AJ Styles wasn’t here tonight because AJ’s family is taking his threats very seriously.

Joe wondered if AJ and his family were in lockdown out of fear of a home invasion. Joe added that he would never do something like that because he is not a monster. He claimed that he did AJ’s family a favor by forcing Styles to stay home tonight.

Joe vowed to Styles’ WWE Championship from him at Hell in a Cell and to also put him to sleep for good. Styles appeared on the jumbotron and blasted Joe for making threats to his family. Styles’ entrance music hit and Joe looked like he had just seen a ghost.

AJ emerged onto the entrance ramp and stared at Joe. Styles then sprinted to the ring and traded shots with Joe. Styles knocked Joe to the corner of the ring and beat the hell out of him. The action spilled out of the ring and Joe launched AJ into the steel steps.

Joe went for a chair but turned around into a Phenomenal Forearm off the steps from Styles. AJ tried to strike Joe with the chair but Joe got out of the way at the last moment. WWE officials rushed to the ring to try to break up the brawl but AJ was able to hit Joe with a Suicide Dive before he was taken backstage.

Rusev Day Is One Step Closer To A Title Shot

Rusev Day SmackDown 9 4

Rusev Day (Aiden English & Rusev) battled SAnitY and The Usos tonight on SmackDown in a Triple Threat match. The winner of the match will face The Bar next week to determine who will get a shot at the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at WWE Hell in a Cell.

The Usos and Rusev Day started off the match by trading shots. SAnitY tagged in and took turns beating down Jey Uso. Dain connected with a massive Dropkick that sent Jey flying out of the ring. Eric Young tagged in and followed it up with an elbow off the ring apron to Jey’s face.

Back in the ring, Jimmy Uso was able to tag in and beatdown Eric Young. Rusev tagged in and tried to apply the Accolade to Young but was distracted by Alexander Wolfe. Young capitalized on the distraction and planted Rusev with a Neckbreaker.

Jimmy Uso got back in the action and connected with a Splash. All hell broke loose and Jey Uso took out Dain and Wolfe with a Suicide Dive. English then planted Jey with a DDT on the ring apron. Rusev then hit Young with a big boot for the pinfall victory. The Bar came down to the ramp after the match and stared at Rusev Day.

Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella Sent A Message To The Miz & Maryse

The Miz and Maryse returned to the arena after Bryan and Brie left. They pretended to be shocked that Bryan and Brie weren’t there and SmackDown GM Paige told The Miz that he had to find someone to compete against tonight or he would be fired. R-Truth was being his usual insane self throughout tonight’s SmackDown and was still searching for Carmella. He bumped into Maryse backstage and asked if she was Carmella. Maryse was offended that R-Truth mistook her for that “Staten Island trash”.

The Miz interrupted and wondered what the hell was going on. R-Truth was confused because he still thought Maryse was Carmella and The Miz responded by calling R-Truth a joke. Later on SmackDown, R-Truth finally found the real Carmella and told her that Maryse called her “Staten Island trash”. R-Truth called for a truce with Carmella and asked her to accompany him to the ring later tonight for his match against The Miz.

The Miz and R-Truth then battled in this week’s main event with Carmella and Maryse ringside for the match. R-Truth started off the match in control and connected with a Leg Drop for a near fall. The Miz battled back and planted R-Truth with a Neckbreaker for a two count.

Miz mocked Bryan’s Yes Kicks but R-Truth ducked under one and rolled up Miz for another two count. The Miz battled back and went for the Figure Four but once again R-Truth countered into a roll-up for a near fall. The Miz quickly took back control and was about to hit the Skull Crushing Finale when Daniel Bryan’s music hit. R-Truth capitalized on the distraction and rolled up The Miz for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella rushed down to the ring. Bryan attacked The Miz as Brie beatdown Maryse. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega then joined the party but wound up getting beaten down as well. Bryan and Brie locked in the Yes Lock on Almas and Vega as Miz & Maryse retreated up the entrance ramp. The Miz cowardly made his way towards the ring but retreated once Bryan turned his attention towards him. SmackDown went off the air with Bryan and Brie leading a “yes!” chant from the crowd.

Match Announced For Next Week’s WWE SmackDown Live

1

WWE has announced the first match for next week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Rusev and Aiden English will take on The Bar as part of the mini-tournament to determine the new #1 contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Detroit, MI at the Little Caesars Arena on the USA Network, Rusev Day beat The Usos and Sanity to advance while last week, The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) beat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Colons.

The winners of next week’s match will challenge The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event that goes down on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center and will air on the WWE Network.

WWE holds next week’s show in Lafayette, LA at the Cajundome. As of this writing, no other matches for SmackDown has been announced.

The New Day won the titles from The Bludgeon Brothers (Luke Harper & Erick Rowan) on an August episode of SmackDown Live in Brooklyn, NY. The reason for the title change is due to Rowan suffering an injury at SummerSlam and having to undergo surgery to fix it.

The fight spills outside where Almas turns things around. Back in the ring, Almas looks for a running knee strike in the corner, but Bryan dodges it and Almas falls out to ringside again. Miz says they’re taking the night off to go on a date at the best restaurant in Detroit, but they shut it down so they don’t have to eat with anyone from Detroit. Miz says they were there earlier, but since Daniel and Brie weren’t, they’ll have to wait until Hell In A Cell to get their shot at them. Miz and Maryse sign off, and Bryan and Bella head to the back.

– Back from the break, Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella are shown exiting the arena with their bags. They say they’re going to get dinner now at the same restaurant as Miz and Maryse.

– Charlotte and Becky Lynch now join the broadcast team via camera for an interview, from separate locations in the building. Becky gets the loudest reaction from the crowd. Charlotte says she knows Becky thinks she deserved the Women’s Title, but Charlotte wasn’t going to just lay down for her, and Becky lost. They exchange words and Charlotte says Becky has been blindsiding her, and she wants Becky to try coming after her face to face. Becky says she’s done asking and she’s starting taking. Becky trashes Charlotte, and Charlotte says at Hell In A Cell she’s going to prove Becky is second best. Miz trashes Truth and says he hasn’t been relevant since they teamed together 7 years ago, and says he’s a joke. Truth says he doesn’t know what Carmella sees in Miz, and he walks off.

– Samoa Joe’s music hits, and the broadcast team seems confused by his presence as he makes his way out to the ring. Joe gets on the mic and says that AJ isn’t here tonight, so that means the Styles family is taking his threats seriously. Joe says last week he said he would go to AJ’s house, so they’re probably locked down fearing of a home invasion. Joe says that’s not going to happen because Joe is not a monster, and he says he did AJ’s wife a favor by making AJ stay home on a Tuesday night. Joe says his actions have forced AJ to care about his family. Joe says at Hell In A Cell he’s coming to take AJ’s Championship and put him to sleep. Jimmy kicks Eric Young down and then hits the running hip attack in the corner. Rusev tags in now and he’s next to beat on EY. Rusev drops Young with a spinning heel kick, then looks for the Accolade. Alexander Wolf distracts Rusev from the apron, which leads to Eric Young hitting a neckbreaker on Rusev. Truth pummels on Miz in the corner and then hits a spinning heel kick. The Miz comes back with a knee to the midsection, then he takes a moment to recover while Truth is down. The Miz stomps on truth and pins for a two count. The Miz follows up with a neckbreaker and backbreaker for another two count. Miz hits the “yes kicks” until Truth grabs his leg to stop them and rolls up Miz for a two count. Truth fires up with some clotheslines and a spinning forearm shot. Truth hits a splash in the corner and then he looks for the axe kick, but Miz dodges it. Miz hits a DDT for a two count. The Miz wastes some time imitating Daniel Bryan and then looks for the running knee strike, but Truth dodges it and hits a spinning heel kick. Truth looks for a back suplex, but Miz lands on his feet and takes out Truth’s knee. Miz looks for a Figure Four but Truth reverses into a pin. Miz immediately gets up and boots Truth in the face. As The Miz sets up for the Skull Crushing Finale, Daniel Bryan’s music hits for the distraction. This leads to R-Truth rolling up The Miz in a pin for the three count.

Winner: R-Truth

– Immediately after the match, Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella hit the ring. Bryan beats down Miz and Brie attacks Maryse. Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega come out next and attack Bryan and Bella. Bryan and Bella turn things around and they each put Almas and Vega in the Yes Lock. The Miz and Maryse watch on from the stage. The Miz looks like he’s about to hit the ring, but Bryan gets to his feet and Miz stops in his tracks and backs off. Daniel Bryan leads the crowd in a “yes” chant as SmackDown goes off the air.

Shawn Michaels: One More Match? (Editorial)

11

No one stays retired. It’s one of the running gags that is prevalent throughout wrestling history. Ric Flair, Terry Funk, Mick Foley…they all returned. One man who has kept his word? Shawn Michaels.

HBK is arguably the greatest superstar to ever step into a WWE ring. The legendary career of Michaels and his show-stopping performances at WrestleMania events throughout history can only be matched by one man: The Undertaker. This past week on RAW featured the return of both HBK and ‘Taker to our screens, the former to cement his opinion that Triple H would defeat his longtime rival, or “cerebrally assassinate” to steal a phrase. This brought out The Deadman who brought up the WrestleMania history of all three men, confirming his dominance at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Why Tease With No Payoff?

The way that the segment ran played out like a very elaborate tease. It has been reported in the past that Vince McMahon loathes segments that tease impossible scenarios. Such as the Steve Austin podcast incident where he was goaded by Paul Heyman into seemingly challenging Brock Lesnar to a Texas Deathmatch…so would a scripted show like RAW have this ‘tease’ without merit? It’s possible, but why would you try something like this if it leads to nothing? WWE does have history in this department so it IS possible.

The question is, should HBK return to the ring? Yes and no. Yes because he is one of the greatest ever. No because it would need to be against The Undertaker. We really don’t need to see that match again do we? After two of the greatest WrestleMania matches ever do we need to retread that well worn path?

Rumors were floating that Michaels and AJ Styles could have a match for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble in 2017. It caused a huge buzz and there at least a slim chance that it could happen. The hype for this potential match was unreal and it could’ve been a real crowning moment in Styles’ career. However as Michaels stated in his RAW promo, he is a man of his word and he would not come out of retirement.

What’s The Likelihood?

Triple H and Undertaker will battle for the final time at the Showdown event in Australia in October. Michaels will probably be involved in some way but will it lead to one final HBK vs Taker match? If Undertaker truly decides that he wants to hang up his boots at next year’s WrestleMania (how many times have you seen that phrase over the years?) then could Michaels be the man to retire him? It would make for a fantastic moment to see HBK back in the ring but would this best be served for a new up and coming Superstar to give Undertaker his last hurrah?

Whatever happens, if we get one more Shawn Michaels match then it would be a spectacle we never expected. Seeing one of the greatest ever go at it one final time can’t be considered a bad thing. If Undertaker wants to retire against Shawn Michaels then they can both ride off into the sunset.

Here’s to WrestleMania 35, a decade after the greatest match in Mania history…one final time.

Billy Corgan Says More NWA Titles Are Coming

5

NWA President Billy Corgan says the promotion is planning to re-introduce several more championship titles.

This past weekend, Cody made made history by capturing the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at All In. At next month’s NWA 70th Anniversary event from Nashville, the organization will re-introduce a “re-christened” National Heavyweight Championship.

The NWA National title was first introduced in 1980. It was held by legendends such as Jack Brisco, Tomy Rich, Paul Orndorff, Dusty Rhodes, Larry Zbyszko, Ted DiBiase, Tully Blanchard and Nikita Koloff. The National title was vacated back in February.

The NWA has yet to announce who will challenge for the NWA National title on 10/21, but they are not stopping there. According to Billy Corgan (via Instagram), the next focus will be the Tag Team and Women’s Championships. NWA executive Dave Lagana clarified on Twitter earlier today that the NWA tag titles are currently vacant.

Following the success of All In and Cody being the current NWA World Heavyweight champion, it should be interesting to see how The Elite factors into the future of the National Wrestling Alliance. Will the Bullet Club remain with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling? Will they start their own promotion? Will they be part of a full NWA reboot? These questions remain unanswered, for now.

The NWA 70th Anniversary show takes place on Sunday, October 21st from the Nashville Fairgrounds. The show will be available to purchase for live streaming through the FITE mobile app

Bret Hart Pens Touching Tribute To Jim Neidhart

3

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has released a statement regarding the passing of his longtime friend and tag team partner, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, who passed away on August 13th.

Bret tweeted on the 13th, “Stunned and saddened. I just don’t have the words right now.” With almost a month to mourn and gather his thoughts, the Hitman published the following on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon:

“I’ve lost a lot of friends over the past few years. One of the things you realize about getting older is that not everybody is going to get older with you.” – Cormac McCarthy

I’m sorry for taking so long in making a statement about the recent passing of my longtime friend and companion Jim “Anvil” Neidhart. No loss has ever dimmed the light in my heart as this one. I loved Jim as more than a brother. He was a one-of-kind character. The most beautiful thing about Jim was how on the longest days and in the most miserable times, he could always make you laugh. He’ll always be the “Anvil”, the big rhino, the tank. He was the best friend I ever had and I owe him for everything good that ever came my way as a pro wrestler. Jim didn’t need me so much as I needed him. We had always been close friends from the first time we met in Stampede Wrestling. We never fought or argued about anything and we were always in agreement. Aside from being my loyal friend, tag team partner, and brother-in-law, I can say Jim helped me keep my sanity during our numerous dark and lonely times. He was such a hilarious friend. Thank you Jim for a lifetime of happy and great memories.

Pro wrestling is a profession where trust and loyalty are everything. We were such a fun, fast, exciting, and formidable combination highlighting each other while always making our opponents. When it came to wrestling teams like Andre the Giant and Haku, the British Bulldogs, the Nasty Boys, Demolition, and The Rockers, the Hart Foundation could work with any team and have the best match on the card. We were both always very proud of all of our accomplishments as the Hart Foundation but we we were always most proud of our friendship.

Someday but far enough away , I hope to have a joyous meeting with the many friends and loved ones gone before and, when I make that crossover, I pray God will lead me straight to the Anvil. Thank you Anvil, for I owe you everything.

“I’ve met men I could trust in the mouth of hell. I would trust them to breathe for me, to pump my blood with their hearts.” – Sebastian Faulks

Love,
Bret

Former WWE Star Backstage At Tonight’s WWE SmackDown Live

5

Former WWE star James Ellsworth is backstage at tonight’s SmackDown Live TV event, according to Pwinsider.com. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if he’ll appear on the show or is just visiting.

Ellsworth was last seen on WWE television during the July 24th episode of SmackDown Live when SmackDown General Manager Paige “fired” Ellsworth from the WWE. The belief at the time was that the reasoning for this firing angle was due to WWE being done using him on television as he was not under a full-time contract with the company when he returned earlier this year and was only used on a per date basis.

Ellsworth’s second stint with the company started at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event where made his return to WWE by helping Carmella retain the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Asuka. They were paired together until his departure.

WWE holds tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live Detroit, MI at the Little Caesars Arena As noted, The Usos vs. Sanity vs. Rusev and Aiden English in a three-way match has been confirmed for the show.

The winners of this match will take on The Bar next week to find out who will challenge The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

Batista Explains What Could Lead To Him Making WWE Return

3

Although he hasn’t worked a match in a few years, pro wrestling is still near and dear to the heart of former WWE Champion Batista.

While doing an interview with WhatCulture Wrestling to promote his upcoming film, Final Score, he gave some insight into what could lead him to him making a WWE return after being a few years removed from his latest run that came back in 2014 where he headlined WrestleMania 30 alongside Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan.

He stated that he thinks and misses pro wrestling on a daily basis because he has a passion for it as he feels at his core, that’s who he is [pro wrestler]. In order for him to make a WWE return, it comes down to two things that need to happen.

Those things are the right time and the right opponent. It needs to make sense for him to return and that’s it.

When reflecting on his latest run, he noted that he went back with the right intentions and felt like he didn’t deliver on what he’d promised and that was just creatively.

“Not only do I have to be free, but I also have to factor in there is a risk that I would be injured,” Batista stated as he pointed out that if he got hurt then he would need time off and that could impact his acting career.

What are your thoughts on Batista’s comments? Sound off in the comment section.

All In Live Attendance Tops 11,000

5

This past Saturday night’s ALL IN pay-per-view from Hoffman Estates, Illinois was a huge success. Tickets for the show sold out in less than 30 minutes. The buzz leading into the show was unlike anything we’ve ever seen. The entire card delivered and it seems we might be on the cusp of a revolution in pro wrestling. On Tuesday, the show’s organizers revealed the live attendance for All In. By any measure, All In was a smashing success.

The initial ‘challenge’ by wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer was to draw 10,000 fans. According to Cody and the Young Bucks, All In had a live attendance of 11,263. Wrestling promoters do have a history of exaggerating live attendance. Even Cody joked that the 11,263 figure is kayfabed. We will provide an update on this story when more attendance data is released, but this is a very impressive number.

https://twitter.com/ALL_IN_2018/status/1037028282229841920

As the dust settles from the historic weekend, it seems that NWA World Heavyweight Champion Cody is wondering the same thing we are.

Update: Young Bucks Merch is now selling a t-shirt touting the attendance figure. If there is a next time, can they top this crowd ?

Reason Why Renee Young Filled In For Jonathan Coachman On WWE RAW

14

To the surprise and joy of many WWE fans, Renee Young was back on commentary for the this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Columbus, OH at the Schottenstein Center on the USA Network.

She joined Corey Graves and Michael Cole on the commentary team where she filled in for Jonathan Coachman, who is usually part of the team. It was noted on the broadcast of the show that the reason for Coachman’s absence was due to him not being there was because he was “on assignment”.

For those who are wondering why he wasn’t there, it’s due to him filming content for the Golf Channel at the WinStar World Casino and Resort. Prior to the show, Coachman took to his official Instagram account to note that Young is only replacing him for the show this week. He wrote the following:

“Done with our night shoot at the @winstar_world as we get set for our 2 night event starting Tuesday and Wednesday 9et on @golf channel. Going to be fun.”

This isn’t the first time that Coachman has missed the show due to other commitments as Young and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has done commentary in the past to fill in.

Seth Rollins Suffers Potential Arm Injury On WWE RAW

16

There is some concern from fans about WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Columbus, OH at the Schottenstein Center on the USA Network, the final segment saw The Shield make their way back to the arena in a police van after being arrested earlier the show after getting into a brawl with Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre in the opening segment. This led to the majority of the roster coming out to break up the brawl.

Once they returned, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Rollins, and Dean Ambrose were ready to brawl with the heels once again but the heel roster came out to aid Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre then beat them down.

During the attack, there were some superstars who sent Rollins flying off the stage into the side of the police van where he smashed into a side window and broke it.

This led to it appearing that Rollins had a good sized cut on his arm from the collision. Although the injury is not likely serious, he probably needed some stitches to close the wound.

https://twitter.com/tBrCast/status/1036815271393153031

The Shield is slated to take on Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre at the WWE Super Show-Down on October 6 in Melbourne, Australia. Although it has yet to be confirmed, it appears that Ambrose and Rollins taking on Ziggler and McIntyre in a tag team match is the direction for the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

WWE has already confirmed that Reigns will defend the Universal Title against Strowman at this show.
