Adam Copeland says AEW is fun.
The Rated R Superstar recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show. During the talk, he was asked about a promo he cut in AEW in April 2024. The promo was seen as a way to rally the troops by many after CM Punk had made negative comments about the AEW locker room a few days earlier.
The former World Champion claimed that he knew he would have to try and dial in the locker room at some point in his AEW career. He assumed that being a leader was one of the reasons the officials had brought him in when he first joined the company.
Adam Copeland then discussed how the promotion has really turned a corner in the last year and now it feels like everyone in the roster is pulling in the same direction:
What’s amazing about AEW too is just the freedom to explore and to try things. It’s much more like the Attitude Era in that regard. Because a lot of times when we were out there during Attitude Era, it’s like there might be a plan, but might not be too. Or you might be figuring it out as you go.
My experience by the end of WWE was over-produced, over-rehearsed, over-everything. It kept handcuffs on you to where you couldn’t really explore too much. That’s not the case with AEW. And that again, it’s fun.

Adam Copeland also said that he would have most likely had a year with WWE after his in-ring return and retired from active competition afterward if AEW did not exist.
The 52-year-old made his surprise WWE return at the 2020 Royal Rumble. He had a three-year run with the company before he left the promotion in August 2023 and joined AEW in October that year.
