Andrade El Idolo’s latest AEW National Championship defense left fans talking for a reason that had little to do with the champion himself.
During his September 19 Collision match against Daniel Garcia, Garcia caught Andrade in a roll-up, and the referee appeared to count three. Yet there was no bell, no celebration, and no sign that the match had ended.
Instead, Andrade immediately reversed the position and pinned Garcia. The referee counted another three, this time officially awarding Andrade the victory.
The confusing sequence quickly spread online, with fans questioning the officiating and the finish.

And the timing made the situation even more noticeable. Just days earlier, WWE’s SmackDown main event also featured a referee botch involving a three-count.
Different matches and different promotions, but the same problem: the referees became the story instead of the wrestlers.
