WWE officials were left scrambling after unplanned finish to an NXT title match.
The latest episode of the development show featured Thea Hail challenging Blake Monroe for the Women's North American Championship. The title match ended on an awkward note as Monroe failed to get her shoulder up in time during a pin spot.
Hail herself looked very surprised when the referee called for the bell. It took a while before her music played in the arena after her victory and there was heavy speculation that the match was not supposed to end this way.
Fightful Select provided an update on the situation, confirming that Blake Monroe was scheduled to retain her title before the botched finish to the bout. They report that creative plans were set for the title for the next couple of weeks.

The new champion Thea Hail, was featured in an interview segment later in the show with Jordynne Grace. Grace mentioned that Hail found a path to the championship quicker than herself. Blake Monroe then made an appearance, blaming the referee for the finish and demanding a rematch.
