Trick Williams went into SummerSlam with the United States Championship, but walked out without it.
Baron Corbin beat Williams on Night 2 of SummerSlam at U.S. Bank Stadium to win the title, his first premium live event match since returning to WWE.
Williams jumped him before the bell, took him down with a flapjack and cleared him to the floor, then pulled out the table and set it up at ringside. Corbin answered with Deep Six on the outside and took over from there, grinding Williams down while Lil Yachty watched from the floor.
Williams found his way back with a run of heel kicks and a Book End for two. Yachty got involved twice, first threatening Corbin with a kendo stick, then cracking him with it while the referee was distracted. Williams followed with a driver for another near fall.
Corbin caught him with a big boot. Williams answered with a heel kick for two.
The table came back into it at the worst possible moment. Williams knocked Yachty off the apron and through it by accident, and while he was watching his manager land, Corbin hit End of Days for the win.
Williams had held the title since taking it from Sami Zayn earlier this year, defending against Zayn, Ricky Saints, Laredo Kid and Carmelo Hayes. Yachty gave him a custom fur-trimmed version of the belt on the July 10 SmackDown. It was his first SummerSlam match.
Corbin returned in July by wrecking Williams and Hayes during a title match, then attacked Williams again after the July 24 SmackDown to make this one.
