After nearly two years away from WWE, Baron Corbin marked his official return to the company by laying out Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams on the July 10 edition of WWE SmackDown. According to the former United States Champion himself, he now plans to stay in WWE for at least a few more years.
In a new interview with The Sportster, Corbin revealed that his current WWE contract spans multiple years, and during its duration, he aims to capture one of WWE’s two world championships. Once the deal is over, though, Corbin isn’t sure if he’d re-sign with WWE. The reason? He considers this potentially the last contract of his pro wrestling career.
Like I said, I signed a good contract, and my thought process is this is probably the last one I sign,” Corbin said. “Realistically, how much time do I have left to do this before I’m a step slower or I’m not able to bring my A game and the physicality I want? I never want to be a guy that hangs on too long. I want to be at 110% when I walk through those curtains. That’s the entrance, that’s the in-ring, that’s after, that’s the promo, all of those things. I want it to be 100, 110%.
Corbin, 41, captured the WWE United States Championship by defeating Trick Williams at SummerSlam, just weeks after his return. His reign went on to stretch 35 days before he dropped the title back to Williams at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
