Baron Corbin was originally supposed to return on Raw.
The Lone Wolf recently spoke to Adam Barnard for an interview with TheSportster. He talked about things such as details of his new WWE contract, goals in his second run with WWE and more.
The former US Champion was also asked what made this the right time to return to the company. Baron Corbin explained that enough time had passed for him to leave the funky booking of the past behind and reset his character. He then revealed that the company actually switched dates for his return multiple times:
It was funny because you kind of go through the hoops of, ‘I think we’re going to bring you to Raw. This is where we’re headed.’ And then it was like, ‘Never mind. We’re switching. You’re going to go to SmackDown. This is what we’re doing. You know, it’s going to be in Atlantic City. Oh, never mind. It’s a tape show. We’re going to switch it to Oklahoma to get the live reaction.’
After plans for his return during the July 3 SmackDown from Atlantic City were nixed, Baron Corbin finally made his appearance during the July 10 SmackDown from Oklahoma City. He attacked Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes, causing their match to end in no contest.
While Corbin did not reveal the plans WWE had for him on Raw, the former champion had been heavily rumored to be revealed as Danhausen’s friend at the July 18 Saturday Night’s Main Event. New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns showed up to help the very evil star beat JD McDonagh instead.
