Brock Lesnar said on Tuesday that he is finished. Not everyone at WWE is treating that as final.
WrestleVotes Radio spoke with a source again after the announcement and reports that high-ranking officials within the company still believe Lesnar will be involved with WrestleMania 43 in some capacity.
The specific alternative floated is not a match. One source told the outlet that if another bout is not in the cards, Lesnar headlining the WWE Hall of Fame in Saudi Arabia would be on the table. The same source went further.
Can’t envision Lesnar walking away before one final payday in Saudi Arabia.
That is one person’s read on another man’s intentions, and Lesnar has said the opposite in his own words. He announced the retirement on the August 4 edition of The Pat McAfee Show, four days after losing to Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.
I’m here today to do this interview to let the world and everybody know that I am retired, and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody. Saturday was a very emotional day for me.
He also explained why the WrestleMania 42 exit did not hold, when he left his gloves and boots in the ring and came back weeks later anyway.
When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, I can’t do this again. So I was like, I think I’m done, but the business and I still had some fuel in the tank, but Saturday for Brock Lesnar, that’s it. That’s it for me in the squared circle and for everything else, too.
Lesnar is 49. He wrestled for WWE across four spells beginning in 2000, held the world title ten times, won the Royal Rumble twice, King of the Ring and Money in the Bank, and was UFC Heavyweight Champion in between. His last match was in the state where he won an NCAA title with Minnesota.
WrestleMania 43 takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in April 2027. WWE has announced nothing about Lesnar’s involvement, and the Hall of Fame class has not been named.
