Bronson Reed isn’t dodging questions about that viral moment on the September 7 episode of Raw, and he’s confirming exactly what most fans already assumed.
The moment came after The Vision laid waste to Oba Femi. Reed planted his foot on Femi while he was down, and Femi immediately swatted it away rather than let Reed pose over him. The exchange lasted only a second, but it was enough to spark real backstage buzz, and it’s since been confirmed the foot-swat wasn’t scripted.
Speaking to West Sport, Reed explained the moment in simple terms: he considers himself the top dog in WWE and was actively asserting that dominance, and he sees Femi as carrying the exact same mentality, which is why Femi wasn’t willing to let it slide.
Reed also revealed that Femi has been a target of his since well before the Raw angle. During his six months on the sidelines, Reed said he watched Raw every week and specifically took note of Femi establishing himself as one of the company’s rising mainstays.
Rather than being happy for him, Reed decided that rise was exactly the reason to go after him once healthy. He followed through immediately upon returning, attacking Femi at Sunday Night’s Main Event before doing it again on Raw.
I think you got to remember I am the top dog. I’m always going to assert dominance, and that’s what I would try to do. And he’s very much the same. That’s why he obviously hit my foot off.
So if people have speculation about these things, then go for it. Speculate, but of course both of us want to be number one, and we’re going to do whatever it takes to be number one.
With both men clearly positioning themselves as WWE’s top dog, this doesn’t look like a one-off confrontation, and it looks like the start of a genuine power struggle.
