CJ Perry recently opened up on a deeply personal struggle that’s been ongoing for years, well outside the wrestling ring.

The former WWE star, who performed as Lana during her time in WWE, shared an update on Instagram about her fertility journey with husband Miro (now known as Rusev).

Alongside photos from a recent scuba trip, Perry detailed her latest round of IVF treatment and the toll the process has taken on her both physically and emotionally.

Perry revealed she and Miro have been trying to conceive since 2019, calling it the hardest journey she’s ever been on. She explained that throughout the process, her wrestling career and travel schedule became something she held onto tightly, giving her an outlet to distract herself while continuing to try and wait.

IVF has also been such a journey; so much weight gain and holding on to so much hope is very challenging. I am so grateful for all of you being a part of my journey and supporting ?

Since 2019 I have been trying to get pregnant ? it’s been the hardest journey I have ever been on.

Wrestling, my career and traveling was always the thing I held on so tightly while I kept actively trying to conceive and was an outlet for me to distract myself while I keep trying and waiting.

She was candid about the physical side effects as well, saying the hormone treatments have made her feel overwhelmed at times and have contributed to significant weight gain over the past year and a half. Perry noted she began formal fertility treatments in 2025, and said she continues to hope that the emotional and financial investment in IVF ultimately pays off.

The hormones make me feel insane often and probably have put on 20 pounds in the past year and half from IVF hormones

In 2025 I started fertility treatments

I keep praying that it will all work out and all the hormones pumping into my body over the past year and money towards IVF won’t be in vain ??

Perry closed her post with a message aimed at others who may be facing similar struggles, encouraging anyone who hasn’t been able to conceive within six months to get checked promptly, regardless of age — specifically pointing to AMH levels for women and sperm count for men as key things to have evaluated early.

Don’t wait ! No matter what age you are if you can’t get pregnant within 6 months go immediately and have your partner and yourself checked. Women go check your AMH levels which is your egg reserve and men go check your sperm count.
