WWE And TKO Building Major Danhausen Deal With Champion Knicks

ByMike ReichlinProfessional Wrestling Journalist

The New York Knicks are NBA champions, and Danhausen’s “uncursing” of the franchise is quickly turning into a much larger WWE and TKO business play.

New York closed out the San Antonio Spurs in five games on Saturday to capture the team’s first title in 53 years, with Jalen Brunson taking Finals MVP honors. Danhausen had attached himself to the run earlier in the playoffs by claiming to lift his curse on the team, and WWE wasted no time turning that into content and merchandise.

According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, the company and its parent are already lining up several projects together.

The Danhausen/Knicks deal is being put together by TKO,” Alvarez said. “WWE cameras will be at the parade, and they will likely be putting together a Knicks/Danhausen documentary for YouTube.

Danhausen’s Own Parade and Statue?

Danhausen marked the title himself, congratulating the team and angling for his own celebration.

We did it, and now the mayor has to give Danhausen a parade of his own, and a statue, or whatever I said.

The Knicks championship parade is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, and Danhausen is reportedly expected to attend.

Knicks Players Targeted For Saturday Night’s Main Event

The crossover is also expected to feed into WWE’s next New York City show. Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place at Madison Square Garden on July 18, and Danhausen has been promoting the event heavily.

“At least one Knick is confirmed for SNME. They’re trying to get several more, plus their coach,” Alvarez continued. “WWE has already launched the Knicks/Danhausen championship merch on WWEShop. Danhausen is also going to be on ESPN Sunday or Monday at the earliest.”

There is recent precedent for Knicks crossover at MSG. Brunson, a noted WWE fan, appeared in a SmackDown segment at the Garden in June 2024, helping LA Knight confront Logan Paul and Tyrese Haliburton.

Fightful Select reported earlier in the day that a Knicks title would make Danhausen a prominent part of advertising across the New York City market going forward, with one source describing him as a future “fixture.” Fittingly, Danhausen sat courtside for Game 3 of the Finals at MSG, the only game New York lost after he uncursed them.
