Dax Harwood believes AEW is the best place in the world for tag team wrestling right now.
The FTR star made his case in a new interview with SB Nation. He pointed to a division that has added The New Level and the Motor City Machine Guns in recent months.
It’s more exciting in AEW now than it’s ever been in our whole time here, and that’s the honest-to-God truth.
Harwood said younger teams are pushing FTR from below.
We’ve got some young teams like the Gunn Club, Austin and Colten, we’ve got young teams like the Rascalz that are coming in and trying to take over the spot from FTR.
At the top of the card, he sees a group of all-time greats.
On top of that, you also have some of the greatest tag teams of all time. Obviously FTR, The Young Bucks, and Cope and Cage, but now with the Austin Creed and Kofi, you’ve got The New Level, one of the greatest tag teams of all time. You’ve got Motor City Machine Guns, another set of guys who can lay claim as the greatest tag team of all time.
He closed with a bold claim.
So if you got five of the top tag teams in the last 30 years in one company under one roof, with some of the greatest young talent in the world, I think it’s almost undeniable to say that AEW is the home for tag team wrestling.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin announced they had signed with AEW when they appeared on the July 30 edition of Collision in Detroit. Kofi and Austin Creed debuted as The New Level at All In: London on August 30. They won the AEW World Trios Championship with Swerve Strickland that night.
FTR now gets its shot at the top of that division. Harwood and Cash Wheeler face The Young Bucks and champions Cage and Cope in a three-way ladder match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The match takes place at AEW All Out on Saturday at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
